Thank you for your reply. I agree with you wholeheartedly especially about disconnecting from the noise of the secular world. Its hard but I can only try. And I will.
There is no such thing as try.You either do or you don't.

That disconnect takes practice. Slow practice. Take your time. Build your confidence. Don't beat yourself up if you don't accomplish what you intended on any given day. Any steps you make is progress.
You'll make it. I know you will. ☺️💕✝️🙏

Thank you for your reply. I have tried to enjoy it but its hard to do that when I dont understand parts of it. There are times when I am like Eureka! I get it and other times I am very much the opposite and give up and dont touch my Bible for months.
Sometimes those Eureka! moments come but frequently they don't.

A big mistake I made when I first got saved was I felt like I had to understand everything as soon as possible. I thought once I had it all figured out my relationship with Christ would then flourish. But I had it backwards. The relationship with Him comes first, and this is primarily established by prayer. Once my relationship with Him was established through daily prayer, I was (and still am) very excited each day to open His word and here what He wants me to know.

God bless.

Quite simply I am seeking Christ. The outcome I am hoping to achieve is to be closer to him. I want to read the scriptures because that is His Word. I want to understand it so I can share this with others....
Read the Gospels. Read them several times if you desire, then branch out to other books of the Bible. Through it all, take notice of which Scriptures you like the most and think of them throughout each day. Blessings to you. 🙏

Wow that was a lot! Thank you for your reply. At first I thought its so overwhelming to read it but then I persevered and appreciated how you summarised the chapters at the end. So grateful for you help.
I'm sorry that it was so long. I simply didn't want you to receive any advice from me, but rather from the scriptures themselves.

My son does alot of multi tasking as he works from home and so on.
He has a app that takes any book and makes it auditable.
Faith comes by hearing...so he applied this method.
He is not one to sit idle for long doing anything.
God bless you in your search for the truth.

Thank you for your reply. There is so much to read and take in. From others suggestions yesterday, I am starting with Proverbs then Psalms then will circle back to the Gospels. Ive got my yellow highlighter out and already using it as there are verses that immediately jump out at me :)

Thank you for sharing that. It resonates with me. I stopped going to church because Id meet people that would talk about the Bible and I had no idea. And I was worried I wouldnt read the whole Bible in time. I worried about talking to people about Christ when I couldnt even quote a verse. I said a prayer this morning, it really was like no other prayer Ive said. The words just flowed and I was amazed at Him. I started Proverbs today and Im getting into it, highlighting verses here and there. I dont know why I was in such a hurry or why I was scared of opening it up. The Bible as a whole is overwhelming for me. Ive gotten lots of awesome advice to take it slow so Im trying to not make the same mistake in the past and rush it, like you and others said so importantly - the relationship with Him comes first, and this is primarily established by prayer.

Thanks for sharing that. At the moment Im listening to a Christian station in my car but training myself to sit with audio at home is a challenge as I get so distracted at home so I know I have to work on being present with Him. God bless.

maybe it has already been mentioned. but if you plan to continue in discussions on this site, google your favorite online Bible version and read a chapter while participating on these forums. it will also create more ideas for Topics to discuss as you begin to learn about the Word of God.

Ya know, I like this idea. Sometimes if I know I'm not going to have the time to read a given night, I'll play it while driving or showering. Either way, I get a dose of the word each day.

Narrow Path,
That's a very honorable question that I trust that the Lord will help you with.
Normally, I encourage Christians to start with the gospel of John. However, it was just last week that I reconsidered this very question. The interesting thing is that you just asked it and I had no idea that it might be of use to someone this soon. My new thought on this and advice is going to help you to accomplish your goal.
You have a desire that pleases God, so ask Him for help each day. I think He will answer your prayer.

Please start by reading the book of Proverbs.

Here are two online copies that you can see which is more legible for your eyes. If you have a paper KjV with large print, that is preferable, but not required by any means. Just keep in mind that I don't recommend the bright computer screen or phone just before bedtime.
Please bookmark for ease of daily use.

Start with Proverbs because:
1. It has 31 chapters, which make a monthly goal of 1 chapter per day to complete the book easy to achieve.
2. Most chapters are short.
3. Every chapter is interesting and most cover multiple topics.

If you get real motivated, then add a chapter from John's gospel. However, I would start with the easy to obtain goal of a chapter from Proverbs every morning. Then, if you want to read John in the evenings after the first month. Don't be hard on yourself if you miss a day or three. Just pick up where you left off. The brain and yes even the spirit has to be exercised like your muscles to gain strength. It will in time as it established this pattern for good spiritual health. I pair a couple glasses of water and my morning routine of coffee with my Bible time. This helps me to stay on track because I have already established the other positive habit. You might have a routine that helps you.

Here is a blessing to go along with your routine. Someone cared enough about me to share this message. There's a prayer at the end. I would listen twice when it's quiet and if you have any questions just ask me anytime. Have a great week!

I really enjoyed watching the video and thankful you passed it on to me and I can share this with my family!

Glad to hear that! I hope that it's a blessing to them too. If they have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Do you know 100% for certain that you have a home in heaven now?

On reading the bible on a daily. Its a real struggle and Im trying to declutter the house and the mind to have clear space for Him.
I try to set goals as I read. I start with 5 chapters a day until the end of the book, at which time I read what is left and go to the next book the next day. Exceptions are Psalms, which chapters are short, so I read until I feel I have spent the same time reading, and books that contain less than 5 chapters, which I will either just read the book and stop, or continue to the next book. If the day is hectic and I fail to read, I don't beat myself up, as I am constantly doing Bible research. Hope it helps.

It could take years or decades to really grasp the truths of the Bible. Do yourself a favor dig deep and build your house on the Rock.

Keep at it. Doggedly. Determinedly. Resolutely. Once you hit Bedrock you will know it.

The immature get caught up in the cults/sin all of the time. However the mature can spot false doctrine and bogus preachers a mile away.

And don't be afraid to study prophecy in depth. Then you will know why Israel is now in the land.....and that God fulfills His word to perfection, and can be trusted infallibly.

Proverbs is outstanding. I read some from it every day.
