Is Baptism necessary for Salvation?

I’ve seen many try to make the water be something else in John 3:5. All claims to the contrary don’t hold water, no pun intended.

There’s a teaching in the modern “church “ that one must do nothing to be saved. Even believing isn’t a work, but water baptism is viewed as a work because doing something is confused with saving ourselves. God has requirements that must be met in order to do the saving. This messaged will fall on many deaf ears in my experience, but we must keep pumping the message out there into the masses.

The left wishes we give up and they win. Can't happen if one is a true Christian.
They even want to assign prayer as ...a works and totally reject ...scripture...."faith without works is dead".....;

Born of water does not mean water baptism. It means natural birth like when a pregnant woman's water breaks just before giving birth. In other words, in order to enter the kingdom , you have to have two births, one natural and the other spiritual. I've already posted in post 454 and 455 that being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ has nothing to do with water baptism.

It seems clear that you are simply all wet and that baptism you are counting on does not provide salvation at all.

Taking a verse out of context is nothing new and certainly nothing new for those that try to make light of Jesus sacrifce and state works and baptism take away sins. That would be you.

You are so right. Scripture says it all. Sadly, people reject it and opt for traditions of men. And according to God, those traditions make the word of God of none effect. Those who refuse to believe God's stated purpose for being water baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus will not receive the reality associated with it. Remission of one's sin becomes a reality for those who believe and obey God's command to be buried with Jesus into His death. (Romans 6:3-6) Also proven by Paul's statement in 1 Corinthians 1:13, baptism is to be done in the name of the one who was crucified for mankind.

This is one of the most off base posts in here yet. The fact is that scripture does say it all but you do not believe it all.

How is Jesus dying on the cross for our sins a tradition of anyone? If possible, you are making even less sense than usual.

Consider that the sin of the world was laid upon Jesus while He was on the cross. However, not all people receive what Jesus died to provide.

The exchange between Jesus and John points out being born of water and of Spirit will be necessary for those living after Jesus' death, burial and resurrection.

John knows he needs to be baptized with the Holy Ghost by Jesus. And Jesus specifically states that water baptism is to be done to fulfill all righteousness. The rebirth as stated by Jesus includes both water baptism for remission of sin and receiving the Holy Ghost. This truth is scattered throughout scripture.

What sin or sins did Jesus commit in order to require John's or anyone's baptism? Jesus was already righteous. You do not understand the fact that Jesus never sinned or you would not continue your campaign for error.

In Mark 1:4, we see, “John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance FOR the remission of sins.”

In Luke 3:3, we see, “And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance FOR the remission of sins.”

The above scriptures state John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. The repentance came first. The baptism in water did not create repentance.

It's clear if you read it as is and do not twist it and massage it to agree with the error of water regeneration.

John the Baptist introduced water baptism for remission of sin.

In Matthew 3:11, John the Baptist mentions the purpose of his baptisms: “I baptize you with water for repentance.”

Paul affirms this in Acts 19:4: “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” John’s baptism had to do with repentance—it was a symbolic representation of changing one’s mind and going a new direction. “Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River” (Matthew 3:6). I don't think these people realize the gravity of the consequences involved when they frivolously deny scripture because they do not take the time to reflect on what other people post because they are too busy trying to argue. I've asked them to read and reflect on posts #454 and 455 which pretty much answers a lot of the questions involved. They say that they have but there is no evidence that anything has sunk in. With people like that, all that we can do as Christians is pray to God that the Holy Spirit will open their eyes and understanding. The simple question is why did all the Jews around the Jordan all come to get baptized by water by John? They never heard of salvation through Jesus Christ, being born again, being filled with the Holy Spirit, etc.
None of them were Christians. John himself stated that he was told by God to baptize with water because the identity of the One who was going to baptize with the Holy Spirit was going to be revealed during his baptizing with water when the Holy Spirit comes down from heaven and hovers over Him. All this is explained in post # 454 and 455. That is why Jesus got baptized with water. He didn't have any sins to repent for but had to be identified by John. THe custom of baptizing with water and repenting was a Jewish thing and that is why Jews , even Christian Jews kept baptizing with water to show their repentance.

Gentiles do not have to adhere to Jewish customs such as circumcision of the penis, Jewish holidays, animal sacrifices, water baptism, etc. Jesus came to save the Jews, but when they rejected Him, the door was opened for Gentiles.
