Humility...transparency...are, in my view, qualities that should be encouraged.

well we can ALL pray for healing
this diagnosis isnt NOT a label you need to wear forever. Its a curse needs to be broken by Jesus blood

Lets pray that all with learning disabilty diagnosis manage to shake those off because God gives wisdom to all who seek Him liberally and that they will be richly blessed. I dont want to say there is a limit to what God can do or the amount of wisdom He chooses to give.

Albert Einstein didn't do well in school. Some would say he had a learning disability. I believe the problem was with the school, not him.
Attention Deficit Disorder means that one has difficulty paying attention. I know for me, it was because if I was interested in it, they taught way too slow for me and I got bored. When it came time to focus on something I wasn't interested in, I was already frustrated.
It goes back to trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Just because most learn a certain way, doesn't mean that all can. They try to hammer you into it. That makes things worse. You are labelled as having behavior problems, and a learning disability. Then they treat it with amphetamines, some of the most powerful and habit-forming drugs known to mankind.
To me, saying I have A.D.D. is quicker than giving a long explanation. I'm different than most and I'm okay with that. God made me this way. Pharmaceutical companies have a way of inventing diseases and then producing a treatment.
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." - Proverbs 22:6
It may take a little effort to discern his way, but I think that's better than forcing him into a system largely developed by Napoleon.

I got nothing against praying about this stuff. I have prayed about it many times and got no answers. I don't know why God heals some people and not others. Take my Grandfather for an example. Before He got saved he was a chain smoker and heavy drinker. For a long time He tried to quit, but couldn't. After asking Christ into his heart, the smoking, and drinking desires just went away. He had no withdraws. But I know for a fact that God doesn't always take those things away from people. You got no farther to look then the Bible to notice that God didn't work in everyone's life the same way. We are not all the same! God doesn't work with all of us in the same way. The only thing He does the same, is save those that believe, and put their faith in him. Hey, I'm happy for you, if you asked Jesus to take away your learning disability and He did. Rejoice! But don't think just because He did it for you, that He will do it for everyone else! Imagine if God cured everyone's cancer. Soon everyone would become Christians just to get rid of cancer.

It's been years since I listened to my audio book called Driven to Distraction, but I think @joecoten is correct Albert Einstein had a learning disability. And i think they said it in that book. The two guys who wrote it both have a learning disability.

I'm in my 40's and when I was in school I was diagnosed with a learning disability. I realize that some people on these forums have already read me talk about it. But it came to me that I never asked if anyone else on this site was diagnosed with it. I'm interested in meeting other Christians who might be struggling with the same thing I am. They call mine ADD or ADHD. I tend to be more ADD then HD. I'm not a hyper person. I space out easily.

Currently I'm only a custodian or janitor or caretaker, depending on what you call people who clean a school, church, or other public building in your country. We don't make a lot of money. It's something I do because I have "problems" with my learning disability or whatever else is wrong with me... I struggle with thinking fast. I can't think fast. Therefor it takes me longer to learn things, and I tend to make more mistakes... This causes me to worry a lot. Sometimes due to my worries, and the moments when my mistakes bit me in the butt, I also fall into Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which also leads into Anxiety. If you readers, have ever wondered, how come I'm so hard or myself, or why I seem to get angry when someone tries to put extra force on me. Then this might be your answer. Because if you put force on someone that already feels like He's working hard to stay afloat as it is, those kind of people tend to snap easier. At least that's the way I find myself feeling... I am not saying that I snap at people all the time. I do my best not too. And I try to be easy going. But that always tends to change when I feel attacked.

I'm just wondering, is there anyone else on this site that has some of the same problems I'm dealing with. If so I would like to talk with you. :)
To increase your attention span, stop watching TV completely. Listen to books on CD while trying to read the same book.

I think its the ads on tv that are the culprit
but also might be video games for short attention spans. screens that have too much text in them that constantly changes is also distracting.

when reading youve got to do it lying in bed or curled up on a bean bag, not at a desk. Its meant to be relaxing. Thats why books are better than screens, no scrolling and tapping but just turning pages. Literally turning pages!!! Find a quiet spot and wear headphones if outside noises are too distracting. Listen to the book while you follow along with the words.

The thing with books is the pictures in them dont move by themselves, YOU move the pictures.

I wish my dyscalculia and possible dyspraxia had been diagnosed when I was still in primary school. Instead of being punished, threatened and ridiculed for it. Made to feel hopeless and told I would have it beaten out of me. And may parents saying it must be a sin or a demon or laziness.
