The Democrats thought she was a slam dunk, having it come out of committee with a tie vote is already a major humiliation to them. They thought they could intimidate people into voting for her because she is a black woman, that failed. Her record as a judge is impossible to explain which is why they tried to hide it and got caught, another major defeat for them.
The reason most of those who voted against her got a spine was because of thousands of phone calls. Even if you don't get Democrats voting against her they may abstain or not show up. They see this nomination as a train crash. Anyone in a tight race who votes for her might as well retire.
This has totally exposed the hypocrisy of the Democrats who asked Kavanaugh if he liked beer and went over his high school calendar and yet complain about "tough questions" concerning Jackson's record as a judge.
It may be among the extreme leftists the arguments they are putting up have traction, but for 75% of Americans they don't. All they are doing is alienating the rest of the country, especially women (mothers of children) and blacks.
This vote has also highlighted Biden's hypocrisy in voting against previous black women who were nominated because they didn't want to give the Republicans the win.
This nomination is doing for Suburban mothers and inner city minorities what Afghanistan did for the military. It is waking them up to how evil and corrupt this regime is.
