Absolutely , rightly it should not go away. “Jesus further likened the timing of the separation of believers from unbelievers to the day when Lot exited the city of Sodom: . . . as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded: But the “SAME DAY" that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. EVEN THUS SHALL IT BE IN THE DAY WHEN THE SON OF MAN IS REVEALED ( Luke 17:28-30 ) According to the clarity of Christs statement, believers will be removed from the outpouring of God’s wrath on the “SAME DAY” that fiery destruction will fall upon an unregenerate humanity, even as righteous Lot was delivered on the same day in which the unbelievers of Sodom and Gomorrah were annihilated. The passage does not say that Lot was removed from Sodom seven years before the judgment comsumed the cities of the plain. It specifically that the separation was a simultaneous event transpiring on the “SAME DAY” As if the reinforce the reality of this truth, Jesus also compared His second coming to the judgement of the flood upon Noah’s generation.
And as it was in the days of Noe( Noah) , so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man. They did eat, they drank , they married wives, they were given in marriage, UNTIL THE DAY THAT NOE ENTERED INTO THE ARK, AND THE FLOOD CAME, AND DESTROYED THEM ALL ( Luke 17:26,27 see also Matt. 24:37-41). Jesus indicates the timing of separation between believers and unbelievers. Noah was spared and the unbelieving remnant was destroyed. The destruction produced a great separation, so shall it be at the Second Coming of Christ. In both comparisons, Jesus stresses the timing of the separation. Both isolate the timing to the “same day”. As Wilmot noted:
The simultaneous action of God in deliverance and judgment our Lord drew attention to when He spoke of His coming and like incidents in Biblical history are not wanting. “ ( The selfsame day: Gen.7:11-13 ) that Noah entire the ark, the flood came and destroyed them all “ ; “the same day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed the all. “ Even thus shall it be when the Son of man is revealed” ( Luke 17 ) William R.
