@ResidentAlien ,

Do you trust God?
Do you believe his word is our Manuel?
Do you have up most Faith in your walk to be true?
Do you have fear?
Are you willing to just let go?

I have read your comments regarding the Holy Ghost, and I see a curiosity there.

Do all speak in tongues?
Do all have the GIFTS operational in their lives?

You fear the fake from the genuine. Look instead at that person you are beholding, does their walk line up with the word? Are they claiming God yet living for the devil?

Your experiences with God are your own, unique to only you and how you allow God to use you through his word!

Do not be concerned with this movement or that movement. Jesus breathed POWER upon his disciples and told them to receive the Holy Ghost. This began on the day of Pentecost some 2000 years ago and will be complete when God says " it's enough,I can do no more".

You know, Church People, the Legalists, they have ruined True Worship!

Today, we are afraid of what to preach when it comes to going against Society and Government rule, we are afraid to Worship because we have allowed the infiltration within church Walls to control our every move.

It took me several years to get to a place where I thanked God for walking into a store and being looked at funny. Been told, You have attitude [when you are walking head down and just going point A to B to shop for items], or judged as being a funny funny [not a comedian] kind of person. Finally, I broke down and sought God why is this happening? He said to me, Because you are getting Closer to Me. Ever since then, I walk into stores like a Bull through a China glass store. Still get judged the same, but I know why because I am getting Closer and Closer to God like He Desires me to be.

I've began Worshiping the Same Way like who cares what Society, the Government, the Church People think!

If getting shunned, lied about, made fun of means I am Right with God, then let the WHOLE WORLD HATE ME!!

Absolutely amen!

There's only Catholicism, Protestantism, and New Age.

So, what are you speaking about because these Movements were here well before the 1900's?
Well, then you dont know about Mennonites, Baptist, Calvinists? And you cant tell me that Baptists before 1900 accepted homosexuality.
(Today baptists accept many unbiblical teachings)
Why the gifts are not genuine given in churches which are based on the word?

Why they have to invite people which were in touch with the azusa revival for to get these gifts? Which came over norway in 1906 to germany.
Also to australia this teaching came in 1906 through people which were in Touch with the azusa revival. (Sarah Jane Lancaster).

Robert Jeffress claims we should not preach against Homosexuals, he is Baptist, and they have many Gay/Lesbian Leaders throughout their entire Denomination.

Same with Wesleyan, Methodist, Presbyterian, Reformed Movements.

Catholics have always had LBG&T Priests.

New Age has LBG&T Leaders spreading Universal Love.

Only the Pentecostal Movement, at less than 1% in far far far away removed movements, condone such. But Pentecostals, are the biggest believers in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit for Today.

Ironic huh?
Pentecostals believe in Modern Day Gifts and have no LBG&T Leadership.

The Others, Cessationalists, have a ton of LBG&T Leadership.

It really speaks for itself!

No LBG&T want Modern Day Tongues/Gifts of the Holy Spirit because it will cast the DEMONS right out of them.

So, which Church Denomination do YOU belong to Aidan1?
I first attend menonite bretheren, then I Visited an interdenominal bible Mission school, present I am in an russian german Baptist church. But from beginning of be an child of God I count me as an Christian . And not as Mennonite or Baptist. In heaven we will not have such denominations.

I am from the American Midwest and know very well about the [Mennonite Bretheren, German Baptist, Amish], They reside in several Midwest states from Pennsylvania to parts of Iowa. In the USA, they refuse to drive Vehicles, travel by Horse and Buggy, no electricity, very 1800's, farm with horse and plow, laundry on clothes lines, no televisions, married men with beards no stache, women covered all over but faces. And their beliefs are quite unique. Interesting that You are a part of them and on a Computer, plus a Nurse in a Hospital.

Well, Pentecostalism is the one denomination mainly associated with modern tongues. I'm not concerned with any so-called manifestations of tongues in the distant past because they can't tell us anything about the modern manifestation. The modern phenomenon is what I'm concerned with.

Pointing out things that may or may not have happened in the distant past seems to me like a red herring.
The definitive teaching on the gift of tongues is found in 1 Corinthians 14. Any teaching or comment connected with tongues not found in that chapter is personal opinion and not Scriptural teaching. 1 Corinthians 14 teaches us what the gift of tongues is, and where, when, and how tongues is to be spoken. The same principles apply whether tongues was spoken in the 1st Century, or from the beginning of the 20th Century.

"For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God." (1 cor. 1:26-29)

@Lafftur

There are so many 'wise' (logical/wordly) voices responding to this post. I hear the same irrational, oft' repeated explanations by people who have already formed an opinion, but, apparently, have never actually studied the relevant passages. I may, at some point start a more detailed post on this subject, but this is my view, relatively briefly stated. ;)

"Speaking in tongues" is mentioned various times as most of us know. Many seem to miss the fact that the word "tongues" does not necessarily mean a known language (as is generally assumed):

[*StrongsGreek*]
01100 γλῶσσα glōssa, gloce-sah'of uncertain affinity;the tongue; by implication, a language (specially, one naturally unacquired):--tongue.
Notice how it says: "by implication", a language. The "tongues of fire" in Acts 2:3 is the same Greek word. The Bible doesn't use the word "language" for the speakers. Only "tongues". Many people need the word tongues to mean "languages" because the idea of meaningless speech is "foolishness". (see ref above) Did you notice, the hearers were "Jews, dwelling in Jerusalem" (Acts 2:5). They may have come from, or represented surrounding nations, but they were "dwelling" in Jerusalem. No reason to think they could not understand the common language.

[*StrongsGreek*]
02730 κατοικέω katoikéō, kat-oy-keh'-ofrom 2596 and 3611;to house permanently, i.e. reside (literally or figuratively):--dwell(-er), inhabitant(-ter).
Interestingly, most of the time, the "hearers" were hearing the Word of God preached in their own "languages":

[*StrongsGreek*]
01258 διάλεκτος diálektos, dee-al'-ek-tosfrom 1256;a (mode of) discourse, i.e. "dialect":--language, tongue.
Please, go back and carefully read the passage in Acts Chapter 2. Notice how the emphasis is on 'hearing' in their own "dialect". And (for the logical thinkers here), there were 120 in the upper room. 3000 men were added to their number, that day (each hearing his own language). Imagine the chaos. No wonder some thought they were drunk. If, on the other hand, "each one was hearing his own language" (by the Holy Spirit), then the message would always be heard 'clearly' by those ready to hear it:

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." (Rev. 2:7)
Paul talks about tongues and interpretation (1st Corinthians) but never gives an example and seems to assume everyone understood what he meant by interpretation: ("do all interpret"? 1 Cor. 12:10)

[*StrongsGreek*]
01329 διερμηνεύω diermēneúō, dee-er-main-yoo'-ofrom 1223 and 2059;to explain thoroughly, by implication, to translate:--expound, interpret(-ation).
Again, notice "interpret" means to "explain thoroughly", to 'expound'. It's not a word for word translation.

The hearers in Acts 2 were "Jews, devout men". Is it not conceivable that God 'gave' the gift of interpretation to the hearers (as well as the gift of tongues to the speakers). Think about it. God can even speak through a donkey if He wants to get our attention.

Tongues is very closely connected to prophecy, but that is a subject for another thread.

Personal experience: i had a life changing moment when the Lord 'spoke' to me while reading my Bible back in 1989. The words I heard (in my Spirit) where not the words I was reading, but they were related. I heard the 'interpretation' in my spirit.

I later received the gift of tongues after being "baptised in the Holy Spirit" (ongoing process).

A lot more could be said on this..... but I have said enough, for now. :)

Sorry, maby I should use the name , name christianity (Namenschristen)
The most Christians in germany are Christians, because of childbaptism (evangelisch/katholisch.)They have no relationship to Christ. So, maby only 2-3% of german population are born again
Christians.

Speaking in tongues has continued throughout history and will continue until Jesus returns. Because upon His return there will be no need for tongues; talking to Him will be done face to face.
So you suggest that speaking to Christ today is only possible through tongues? In the mind that you dont know what you talk or pray in tongues?

Brother, perhaps you should consider that you faithfully rise early and prepare for the Ward in service of your patients so you may use that time to speak to the Father in your understanding mind and in silence - wherein your patent may receive through your hands a blessing that speaks to their spiritual needs when they see your face without a word being spoken. So then what better time than that to ask the Father about spiritual gifts that exceed the mind and have their origination in the Spirit of God. So brother, what then if you find yourself speaking without your mind and by your mouth to your patient in an unknown tongue?

It will be costly because you know that you will be rejected by many.

Ahh, but it's not definitive. For every verse you give me that supports tongues for today, I can match it with one that doesn't support it. The scriptures can be manipulated to say anything a person wants.

If you believe the scriptures support tongues, that's fine, that's your belief. However, my focus is on a particular denomination and whether or not what they teach and practice is legit.

My point was that speaking in tongues will not be necessary when Jesus returns. I accept, and operate in, what the bible states as truth. There is nothing that compares to the connection between one's spirit and the Spirit of God. Those who refuse to accept God's truth concerning tongues are losing out on a very special blessing.

"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries." 1 Cor 14:2

"For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also." 1 Cor 14:14-15

the thread is simple. This is a gift of the Holy Spirit. And this gift as all is to be desired as instructed by the Lord Jesus and addressed by PAUL IN 1COR CHAPTER 12. Nothing in the word of God tells us the gifts of the Holy Spirit have stopped at the completion of the canon of the bible. Nothing done in foolishness by some Pentecostals & Charismatics make the gifts of the Holy Spirit to no effect.

Those who say they have not seen anything to validate these gifts are real or even happening today are with those person(s) and not reflective of all who are Christians. They need to get out more I guess. They have no biblical refutation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit that have ceased. None. They talk about personal experiences with Pentacostel denominations or past affiliation with them or how many years they were A/G COG, COGIC, Four Square, etc..

Just would like to see BIBLE where says they are not for today? Just two verses? They only have 1cor 13:8-10. Yet the verses say no such thing BUT they know better. When called on it they bring up human reasoning or interject Secular humanistic linguists to speak on the Supernatural working of the Holy Spirit, BUT not the word of God. Funny Youtube videos of people being foolish, yep many of them too. But no authoritative word of God saying they have stopped or not for today.

No, no, no, I have studied the pentacostel movement, (from the bias they have) and Occult practices and pagan ones too from India.

Just nothing Biblical. Looking outside the word of to disprove what those who saw in the word of God dared to believe in faith they gifts are for all today and never stopped. Please have at it.
Pentacostel churches have been given great and powerful success and praiseworthy works for the Lord Jesus Christ, that will be ignored by haters, who do nothing for the kingdom of God, sitting in dead churches speaking to the frozen chosen. And name-calling. calling us devils because of a few abusers who we have all called out many times.
We by the grace of God and faith in HIS word have done exploits for the Lord as HE enables us to do so.

Here are a few that have come to be in Pentecostal churches To God Be the glory.

  • World mission
  • Teen Challenge with a 70% rehabilitation success rate NO governmental program has ever come close Christ-Centered. Out of that program came Second Chance, and Celebrate Recovery all Christ-centered.
  • Convoy of Hope
  • We are still seeing growth today unlike those who attack us.
  • Bible schools & seminaries we train the nations in the word of God.
  • Power women ministries and evangelism
All that came out of a few many here attack at Azua Street where Pentacostel were more inclusive with our Black brothers and sister than those of our dear Baptist and others. Our churches are very diverse and reach people for God even during World wars , and the Great Depression. During a pandemic ALL GLORY TO GOD!. Some here talk about 1908 here is a picture of Pentecostals 10 years later during the time separation and segregation in this nation Pentacostels was standing alone and as today they were attacked then By other So-called Christians "don't go there you will get what they got." What did they get?

inclusion, breaking racial barriers, and most important encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit

AG church in Cleveland, Ohio? This is part of a large photo of the Pentecostal Young People's Rally, Upper Shaker Lakes, July 4, 1918. The rally was sponsored by the Pentecostal Church of Cleveland, Ohio, pastored by Assemblies of God pioneer D. W. Kerr.

I thank God for this Movement of God that has helped break down the hate of our brother and the WAY of Cain, that many still hold to. You will see in the Picture as Living Proof black are not on one side and white on the other. As many other churches have pictures of that were not A/G.

"Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot or blemish; and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them about these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the unlearned and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures."—2 Peter 3:14-16

Anyone can twist the scriptures. Just because someone says something has to be so because the scriptures say this or that, doesn't necessarily make it so.
