You see, often it isn't the intelligence that is lacking, rather the intuition--there are a number of people on the forums that are shall we say 'not all together there'--we need the ability to discern this. Of course we are always to speak the truth in love and sometimes we step on others toes--so be it. But when somebody is 'off the rails'--differentiating between this and an opposing doctrine-grace is needed here.

I suppose the possibility is worth taking into consideration, Laura. But in the end, if they present themselves as teachers of the word, until proof can be established that they actually are mentally challenged in some way, they have to be taken at face value and addressed as such. There is a grave responsibility attached to assuming the role of teacher in the Lord, as James said they will be judged more strictly (James 3:1). And once it has been established that they are, I think this should be regularly brought to people's attention, including the mentally challenged themselves in subtle ways, so as to remind them that they are dealing in matters where they would be better off just asking questions than assuming a stance of teacher over others.

P.S. Didn't mean to "serious up" the conversation, Lol.

Well, for instance there is one member at another forum who is pretty clearly off his cracker. He posts all the time, and is a big thread starter, but some of it is just nuts. I can't remember specific things atm, but a few mild examples would be starting threads like.

- "Chickens are powerful animals." (nothing more said)
- "I'm sensing everyone else is crazy." (nothing else said).

It's like his mind is receiving "messages," which show up on a forum indiscriminately.

I guess I'm saying that if someone habitually posts threads like "I used to be a hamster, but now I'm Spiderman," you don't really need a doctor's note to know there might be a problem.

And the trouble is that people will engage him like he is all there sometimes. It makes me wanna make them aware of what they are getting themselves into.

Well, again, if you read what I wrote--you only need read the one thing he said that he wrote God's words--the intuitive RED flag should go up--multiple postings are unnecessary. And my point being that people are indeed lacking intuition in these things and so my point, it needs to be exercised before making fun of people in responses.

Yes and that is exactly what I mean--not just in this forum, but I see it in other forums--these are 'believers' who are seemingly intelligent and post all kinds of scripture verses--sometimes their responses are downright cruel--like a child pulling the legs off a spider.

Well, I mean they engage him thoughtfully, as if they are taking him seriously.

I'll give you another example. There is this one guy who shows up semi-regularly at another forum, and we are talking a troll's troll. One time he went by the title "Lord of the Seven Spirits," and DARED everyone to prove he wasn't God. This guy isn't crazy at all. He's a head-gamer, and takes real joy in goading Christians into discussion and makes them look like fools. And the amazing thing is that they take the bait, like they are somehow going to teach this guy a lesson. So he toys with them mentally for about 2 or 3 pages til they finally realize they are being had.

I just take a post or two to poke fun at him and then exit. I don't take him seriously in the least, and try to send the message to others to do likewise.

Well, I think it's okay if there are people that are 'seekers', but when it gets to that point, they should be reported--rudeness and craziness are why people leave the forums. It's called Christian Chat for a reason. I requested my account to be deleted the first week I was on it because of this--fortunately they didn't, as I am learning from others on the site, it has me studying scripture to formulate an argument and praying for God to reveal more truth as I go thru the process.

PS One guy posted a video taking his shirt off and said some other strange things too. We can't let this place become a 'free for all'.
