The sun never appears directly overhead at any point South of the Tropic of Capricorn, about 23 degrees South. That's true regardless of the shape of the Earth.

Sydney, Australia, is at about 33.9 degrees South, ten degrees farther than the Tropic. The sun NEVER is South of Sydney. Yet there are pictures clearly showing it casting shadows Northward.

This can only happen on a ball-shaped Earth.

No amount of flat-Earth rhetoric will suffice while this situation remains unexplained.

Good post Dino.

Let's see; rhe-to-ric: expressed in terms intended to persuade or impress.
Yes!
That's it, right?

The water/smoke/etc. content in the atmosphere blocks the sun when it is far enough away.
@Dino246 - let me see if I understand this correctly --- you believe that enough moisture in the air will block headlights on a car and lighthouses on the ocean shoreline - but, no amount of moisture in the air will block the light of the sun...???

Ever experience a cloudy day - thick enough to block the light of the sun?

You have?

Yet, you do not believe enough moisture in the air - in a horizontal direction - can block the light of the sun?

Why?

Sure, and so very funny. You do not know if the earth is flat, oval or whatever. You take it on faith, you have been indocterinated the oval thing. You have never ever contemplated it. And regardless of shape, what would it matter? You still walk around as today, flat some places, hilly other places, water runs as it does. The sun shines, there are sometimes cloudy, sometimes it rains, and the idiotwind keeps on blowing our hats of our heads. Puck or egg is irrelevant.
I have been around the earth many times, there is no falling off point anywhere. Also, I have viewed images from outer space too.

Good luck with the logic on that one. Wind is the same no matter what the shape is, and windmills are not economically feasible. If we wanna talk about upsides to a flatplanet regarding the weatherbandit, it would be technologically simple to funnel all the supposed melted water into space, just having some long hoses at the ends of the earth and some powerful dieselpumps. Or perhaps jetpumps, windturbins to do the job.
If the earth is flat what keeps the dead from crawling up over the edges?
How did Noah's Flood keep the water on top?

I don't believe either.

What I do believe is that the idea that the sun is consistently blocked by moisture, etc. sufficient to explain sunrise/sunset is nonsensical and counterfactual.

Watch these short videos...

I finally just gave up and googled "how do flat earth people explain eclipses" and got my text based explanations.

Well... sort of. All I could find was basically "we don't really know. We think there might be other balls tracking around under this dome that get in the way of the sun sometimes." If you already believe the sun is a small, very bright ball tracking around under an earth dome, I can see how that would make sense.

Gravity Fails

"People who believe in a flat Earth assume that gravity would pull straight down, but there’s no evidence to suggest it would work that way. What we know about gravity suggests it would pull toward the center of the disk. That means it would only pull straight down at one point on the center of the disk. As you got increasingly far from the center, gravity would tug more and more horizontally.

....

Solar Problems
Then there’s the sun. In the scientifically supported model of the solar system, the Earth revolves around the sun because the latter is much more massive and has more gravity. However, the Earth doesn’t fall into the sun because it is traveling in an orbit. In other words, the sun’s gravity isn’t acting alone. The planet is also traveling in a direction perpendicular to the star’s gravitational tug; if it were possible to switch off that gravity, the Earth would shoot away in a straight line and hightail it out of the solar system.

...

Deep below ground, the solid core of the Earth generates the planet’s magnetic field. But in a flat planet, that would have to be replaced by something else. Perhaps a flat sheet of liquid metal. That, however, wouldn’t rotate in a way that creates a magnetic field.

...

Tectonic plate movement and seismicity depend on a round Earth, because only on a sphere do all the plates fit together in a sensible way,

...

“With extraordinary few exceptions, no educated person in the history of Western Civilization from the third century B.C. onward believed that the Earth was flat,”

Class 1: verses that have nothing to do with the flat-earth argument. In classical terms, these are called non sequiturs, or “does not follow”.

Class 2: verses that are ambiguous in relation to the shape of the earth, i.e. using equivocal language. A proper analysis would require a decent knowledge of ancient languages and the context, or at least a careful reading of scholarly sources that discuss the passage in question.

Class 3: verses that involve a misreading of non-modern English terminology in some older versions, often cherry-picked. In classical terms, this is called lying.

Two things I can't figure out:

1 - Why has nobody set up an expedition to explore to the edge? A plane with a long range? A mountain hiking expedition? SOMEBODY should have been to the edge by now.

2 - What benefit is there in this great conspiracy to fool everybody into believing the earth is round? Who profits from this and how?

Anybody? Any flat earthers want to address either of these?

The first thing you need to understand is that "the edge" is hundreds-if-not-thousands of miles beyond the ice ring.

(And, thousands is highly more likely.)

Moreover, you would run into the dome wall before reaching the edge.

To learn about what has been done, research Admiral Richard Byrd.

Who profits?

~ Satan, and the 'evil' of the earth - the whole 'ball earth' thing exists to "hide God"

~ NASA - along with everyone who benefits from their existence

~ all who benefit from ball-earth "science"

~ politicians/government - who use it against the people through psychological means of control

I am sure there is more I could say if I thought about it long enough.

To answer your own question, consider what would happen and who it would affect (and, in what ways) if the whole world suddenly discovered with absolute certainty that we live in a giant terrarium.

I'll get back to you day after tomorrow when the videos load.

It's tough being a nerd in the age of data caps.
Did you ever get an opportunity to watch those videos?

No. I gave up long ago on getting a simple text answer so I googled my question.

Mind you, I had to sort through a lot of troll answers in the google results. I wish someone here could have just given me a simple answer.
