Literal is a tricky word. The Scriptures includes hyperbole, anthropopathisms, and anthropomorphisms, which are forms of speech never meant to be taken literally. They are used to get your attention and/or explain a spiritual concept in human terms so we can begin to understand.

If you are asking whether Christians believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, the answer is yes, most do. We sometimes see discussions about fallible manifestations of scripture (e.g. transcription errors in some editions or poor translations) but generally it is considered an axiom.

It would be unusual to see a 100% literal interpretation of scripture especially when there are explicit instances of simile, parable and descriptions that are strongly metaphoric. Is it possible to have an internally consistent interpretation that the Bible is 100% literal? Maybe. That would require testing. E.g. in John 6:35 when Jesus says "I am the bread of life", perhaps there is some interpretation with Eucharist bread where this could be literally interpreted. It would likely be an unusual interpretation.

If we are just talking about scripture as the inerrant word of God, we are still left with possible differences in interpretation. First, logically we should establish which interpretations are consistent with scripture. When we discover multiple interpretations that work by themselves but contradict eachother, we then have to determine which interpretations we find to be the most compelling.

I believe that God is spirit and we are flesh. I believe the world of the spirit is very difficult to comprehend by men of the flesh. The world of God is eternal and different, the world of the flesh is temporary, but we must do our best to comprehend God's world for to live eternally means that we are to enter that world.

I believe every word of scripture has more truth than we are able to assimilate correctly, but I believe every word given in scripture is truth. I just don't completely trust my understanding of it. The holy spirit helps, and as I study and pray, it seems new vistas open up so my understanding changes over time.

wouldnt the literal interpretation of verses like this , be that scripture has a spiritual nature to it and needs to be spiritually understood and discerned ?

My own belief has nothing to do with any named denomination.
My Source of faith is the gift given me when the Holy Spirit entered into me.
I believe the Word knowing there may be a lot of not understood parts from my ability given also by the Holy Spirit.
Much of the Word, by faith, I do no understaand but I believe awaiting understanding.
Jesus Yeshua is my Savior and He teaches me my faith is that of Abraham, and I am adopted as a son of Abraham as are all who truly believe..
So, yes, I believe the Bible.
