Acts 10:42-48
42 And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.
43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
The Holy Spirit Falls on the Gentiles
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.
45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Then Peter answered,
47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.
Note v43. Those who believe in him will receive remission of sins.
Why?
Because sins were forgiven on the cross and appropriated to us as a result of faith.
Then we see in verse 47 they had already received the Holy Spirit before baptism.
Then they were baptised.

38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The word for is "eis"
Wrong translation.
The intended meaning is
this context is either “because of” or “in regard to” and not “in order to get.

You said verse 43 states those who believe in him will received remission of sins. The scripture actually states "To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” Now notice what occurs in verses 47-48: Peter commands them to be water baptized in the name of the Lord.
There is a distinct difference in the scripture's meaning from what you think it says and what it actually says.
“Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”

Well, im here 2.5 weeks obo, and all he talks about is works and water.
What makes this type of situation Galatians 1:8 is that there are not several Redemptions or different Gospels.
There is just one.
Catholics and Jehovah Witness, have the same theology regarding water, as the JW's took a bit of theology from a few different groups, and their "water cult" theology, came from the "Cult of Mary'...(Catholic Church)

The scripture actually states "To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” Now notice what occurs in verses 47-48: Peter commands them to be water baptized in the name of the Lord.
Peter said everyone was to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus for the remission of sin on the Day of Pentecost. And Ananias told Paul to be baptized and wash away his sin calling on the name of the Lord.

Peter said everyone was to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus for the remission of sin on the Day of Pentecost. And Ananias told Paul to be baptized and wash away his sin calling on the name of the Lord.
That's possibly true, if the Thief is a JEW.
The bible does not tell us....so, maybe he'a a Greek.
Maybe he was a Roman soldier who stole some meat because he was hungry and tired of "rations".
What we know is that He's in Heaven, and he was not water baptize as you find it today.
So, any water baptism that he tried, was John the Baptist's, and that one isn't connected to the Cross, or Christ, as Jesus had not died on the Cross yet.
