Why do Christians believe in a place of torment called Hell?

God is not weak He just made spirits and angels that cannot die.

Some are resurrected to life some are resurrected to damnation (means judgment) which is not life.

John 5:29
29And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

No scripture ever describes an angel "becoming" human looking. They are already in a humanoid form which why they look like a mortal human. I've seen one when I was younger.

Yes I agree. Damnation or eternal torment is not life at all. God also called it second death.

You have to be alive to experience eternal torment. Can't have eternal life in heaven or eternal life in hell.

That's why it's called the second death. Death is exactly as the Bible says: death, not eternal life, and not eternal torment.

It's a bad life, but it is life and having an eternal life. The bible says the unsaved will not have life after judgment day so I will go with that.

John_3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life ; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

"shall not see life" means will not be alive.



Universalism -all people (saved and unsaved) will see life in the New Heaven and new Earth for all eternity--FALSE DOCTRINE

Eternal torment -all unsaved people will see life in torment (lake of fire) for all eternity--FALSE DOCTRINE

Annihilationism - all unsaved people will not see life as Christ said.--TRUE DOCTRINE


Only Annihilation matches what Christ taught in John_3:36.

Eternal life doesn't mean to exist forever. That is where annihilationism and eternal torment dont meet.

This above is the reason for your error!

Life and death are both states of existence determined by an individuals state of being with God. The believer in Christ will have eternal life, which is eternal existence in the Joy of the Lord in the kingdom of God. The reference that the unbeliever "shall not see life" is the opposite of life, which means that the the individual will exist eternally in separation from God and condemned in the lake of fire.

You err because you interpret death as meaning to cease to exist. The truth is that life and death are two states of conscious existence.

Life = eternal conscious existence in the presence of the Lord in the kingdom of God

Death = eternal conscious existence in separation from God in the lake of fire

If Death meant that the individual ceases to exist, then they would have ceased to exist after the first death. Yet, there is a second death which is the lake of fire. How can they die once only to die a second time? As revealed in Revelation 20:11-15, the spirits of the unrighteous dead will be released from Hades receiving resurrected bodies and will stand before God at the GWTJ and will then be cast into the lake of fire where the they will endure their torment in those resurrected bodies.

This is how I have reasoned it as well, but we got verses like Revelation 14:11 to contend with.

Who do you think the verse is referring to regarding those who are being tormented? It certainly wouldn't be the righteous. It is the wicked who will be tormented forever. You can't be tormented unless you are existing. Please use your reasoning regarding these things.

As I said to you in an earlier post, your definition of death as meaning nonexistence is your error.

Death for one is referring to the death of the body. And the second death is referring to the eternal conscious state of the unrighteous.

Once you get an understanding of the meaning of death by studying it, then you will come to the understanding that it does not mean nonexistence.

Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Eternal torment is not found here. Smoke rises forever, and the people who take mark of beast will not rest day or night...that is a reference to great tribulation while they are alive, not the lake of fire.

That is false! Eternal torment is exactly what the scripture is talking about. It mentions that the smoke of their torment rises up [forever and ever], which cannot be referring to the great tribulation which is only 3 1/2 years in length. It is speaking about their state of being in the lake of fire.

One would have to be existing in order for the smoke of their torment to rise up forever and ever, as well as to not have any rest day or night. Both of these are speaking of eternal conscious torment.

You know that you will be held accountable for these blatant false teachings, don't you?
