I disagree, there is a case for being informed, so that we can use that information to refute a belief system, our faith and knowledge of our own faith and belief system shouldn’t quail at the thought of investigation a false one, of course you can refute others on the strength of Gods scripture, yet there are times we should use the inadequacies of their text to illustrate error so that we are able provide them with a suitable and accurate alternative.
Having a valid opinion can only be strengthened by having read the material you attempting to discuss. There is no difference between investigation another doctrinal position before testing that belief against God word.

There is no need to study some false religion to try to come up with a way to refute it with scripture or defend the scripture.
The Word of God...it is a double edged sword and can easily defend itself against any false religion. All you have to know is the word of God, and you can easily refute any false religion by speaking the Word of God.
Getting tangled up in studying some false religion...especially if you are not first trained in the Word of God and competent enough to use the Sword of the Spirit correctly could prove dangerous.

This is the problem i have andy, is i can not accept God allows suffering for so long befor he puts an end to it especially from the hands of those suffering at the hands of demons. I really cant accept this, it really is like rubbing salt into my wounds. My biggest reason i cant accept this, is because ive seen demons at work with my on eyes, causing deliberate shame on a person, causing trouble, tempting a person into harms way (ive seen them wisper in a persons ear. tempting a person to harm them selfs or tempting a person to do something dangerous. plus ive seen them seperate friendships. ive seen there mental abuse close with my own eyes. and the misery they can bring to a person, not to mention the look of pure evil in there eyes.
So when i read peter and it says many christians are suffering at the hands satan. and then peter says after you have suffered a while God will restore you, i take that to mean satan will cause a christian to suffer a while, not God will only allow satan to do so much.
So in a nutshell you don't believe the Bible because you have your own ideas about what God should and should not do, that He should be like you, think like you think, and when you are surprised by scripture you reject it instead of trying to humbly understand it through prayer and study?

Well my answer to you would be that God is in heaven and does as He pleases, and you are on earth and should fear Him: its the height of arrogance for you to presume your ideas about morality are greater than His truth.
Your latter point is correct, well I will concede to all your points to a point, “there is no need” and how do you know that without knowing the individual your addressing? When a atheist argues with you about your definition of the validity of scripture, do you counter this with more scripture or do you use his argument against him? In order to use let’s say objective morality as your proof for a Supernatural being wouldn’t you need to actually know the definition and phycology behind objective v’s subjective morality and it’s effects in relation to logic and society?.
So it’s beneficial, is it not to have an understanding of science when refuting arguments built upon it’s supposed truth, like I said there’s nothing wrong with being well read into a subject you intend to debate, you say that the Quran, is dangerous then is better to know our adversary is it not?

That all fine and dandy if you actually give the Bible any credence, remember it’s not the choir your preaching to, using a text you! happen to have faith in, isn’t going to effect change in their mind, when they don’t relate or belief as you do, you undermine belief when you can show it’s wrong, because it’s indefensible by their truth. God can and does intercede directly through conviction, yet we also are expected to act in accordance with His will, I just happen to think that knowledge is powerful and that power grows through our exposer to its source.
Many muslims have read the quran and become christian. jacky chan is a great example. i love his sermons. he even preaches live on the streets in the middle east to muslims. he can get through to them better because he knows the quran.
I was told to fully get to know my enemy By God and God told me to read the quran so i did.
