Mathew 19:28

The law of many laws
Jesus said that anyone who does good works in my name will inherit eternal life.

Good works 1

Mathew 19:28 Jesus says in this verse anyone who does good works in my name will inherit eternal life.

28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

Good works 2
Jesus said those who obey my commandments will have eternal life

mathew 16:17
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”
17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

Good works 3

Matthew 24:13
“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Mathew 19:28 Jesus says in this verse anyone who does good works in my name will inherit eternal life.
That verse says nothing of the sort. The context doesn't either.

You have the wrong passage cited here; that is not Matthew 16:16-17. As for your claim, Jesus did not say "Those who obey my commandments will have eternal life"; He said to one man in the midst of a longer conversation, "If you want to enter life, keep the commandments." He also added another condition, meaning that keeping the commandments is not enough. It's only one part of the requirement.

Matthew 24:13
“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Again, there is nothing about good works in this verse. It's about holding firm to faith in the face of persecution, temporal suffering, and cultural upheaval.

Whoops, did the wrong reaction to begin with :)

the above scripture says he who keeps his faith untill the end shall recieve eternal salvation. this is also a good person who does this. this is also good work.

how anyone can deny this is beyond me.

Mathew 19:28 Jesus says in this verse anyone who does good works in my name will inherit eternal life.
23 And Jesus said unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25 And when the disciples heard it, they were astonished exceedingly, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 And Jesus looking upon them said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee; what then shall we have? 28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And every one that hath left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, [m]or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive [n]a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life. 30 But many shall be last that are first; and first that are last.

context is everything

No, they don't. There is nothing in that passage at all about a person who leads another person to Christ. Further, the grammatical structure of your summary statement has "he ... is good works." People aren't "good works".

You would do well to stop injecting your ideas into the text and start getting your ideas out of it.

Sir, you are confused. Here is Matthew 16:16-17:

Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Jesus replied, "Blessed are you Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man but by my Father in heaven."

Please, check your references.

No sir im not confused the scriptures are from Jesus spoken directly from the lips of Jesus the mesiah. you need to spend more time dwelling on the scripture.

I will however explain in more detail for you. I do like to dicuss the law.

Mathew 19:28
28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

firstly please notice law number 1 you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel...

Now in the context of all the scripture we have ask the question what does it mean to follow. and where are the 12 thrones.

What does it mean to follow Jesus.

1 Well quite clearly the 12 thrones are in heaven because in the next verse it says And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

So in the whole context what does it mean to Follow Jesus.
Well it means eternal life. the first and most important thing is this Following Jesus means eternal life.

lets look at the next part 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or a father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

What does it mean to leave a field for my sake ?
Well since Jesus was talking here i think we can safely say it means to leave a field in the name of Jesus. This means to hand over a field to the church for free. To give to charity
To do a good deed. To work your whole life and leave everything to Jesus.

Now we have to look at the context of the whole passage which is the word everyone.

29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. So the scripture is for peter and everyone.

So now we have to look at what does it mean to leave a sister for my sake. ?
Well its the same as befor, to hand over a person to christ for free. to work your whole life to follow Jesus and lead your family to christ. To do all this in the name of Christ

We have to look at who Jesus was speaking to in the whole context Jesus was speaking to his deciples. Peter was being taught to minister and to lead people to christ.
Which is to follow Jesus which is to Good works for Jesus in the name of Jesus.

This means that ministers who lead people to christ do Good work for Jesus.
Secondly The passage says everyone who leaves a family member in my name is also a good minister and doing my work. Such people will inherit eternal life.

Of course we now have to look again at what its means to follow. well it doesnt Just mean to do Good works as you have said. Jesus said it also means to keep your faith your whole life. Which can mean dont reject me or dont reject my teachings.

This would also mean following Jesus and doing Good work your whole life.

This is why Jesus said to follow me is also to obey my commandments which is also doing Good work your whole life.

No sir im not confused the scriptures are from Jesus spoken directly from the lips of Jesus the mesiah. you need to spend more time dwelling on the scripture.
You need to spend more time dwelling on accuracy. You still haven't acknowledged your error regarding Matthew 16:16-17, despite my having addressed it twice.

I will however explain in more detail for you. I do like to dicuss the law.
You can explain your understanding of Scripture all you like, but note that I haven't requested it, and won't necessarily accept it as truth.

That is a statement of prophecy, not law.

Note that the verse says nothing about "heaven".

So in the whole context what does it mean to Follow Jesus.
Well it means eternal life. the first and most important thing is this Following Jesus means eternal life.
That is not what it means; that is the result. If I ask you what "garbage bin" means, the answer is not "clean city streets".

lets look at the next part 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or a father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

What does it mean to leave a field for my sake ?
Well since Jesus was talking here i think we can safely say it means to leave a field in the name of Jesus. This means to hand over a field to the church for free. To give to charity
To do a good deed. To work your whole life and leave everything to Jesus.
You engage far too freely in eisegesis.

No, the passage does not say that. You're adding concepts for which words are not there.

You cannot possibly end up with a sound conclusion when your method and the steps are rife with error. At a minimum, I strongly suggest that you look up the non sequitur fallacy.

Highly discouraging the way im seeing good works from Good people mocked.
Especially the most treasured works that Jesus loves us to do.

Cant really understand why i have prayed for diserment.

I know the law of love should not be conditional but i feal thats probably the main issue as to why this topic of works and the law is such a touchy subject for some.
Most people have the same idea that i have, that love should not be forced or conditional.

The reality in the bible tho is a man without law is a law unto them selves. Satan is described the same way as the man of lawlessness who decieves and denies and is very destructive and exalts him self higher than God and rejects all truth and plays God.
No doubt playing God in many peoples ears..
Satan curses Good works and curses the law.

The truth is salvation is a free gift and an expression of Gods love. We should not deny this free Gift of love by saying we must do works to earn it because this is going against the law of love. So the same rule should also apply to us people, that what ever Good works we do is an expresion of our love and the spirit working through us.

Now this is the reality to christians we are told to be gentle to others. but when this law of love belief is challenged in our heart i see many people not being gentle and cursing people to to death just like satan would.
This is hardly an expression of love is it. surely if your love is strong this shouldnt upset you.

The challenge of this law of love belief has many good reasons for challenging this law of love.

One of them is bible says you must obey my commandment to recieve eternal life.

17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

this verse puts doubt in peoples mind that Gods law of love is conditional.

Of corse the other big reason why people challenge this law of love is, the bible is quite clear that those who dont follow Jesus will suffer eternal punishiment, which suggests to some that Gods law of love is conditional. these are genuine concerns of people.

This is where the devil does his worst to peopled minds Because what Jesus is actually saying is if you dont behave you could face hell. obviously that is not going to happen if you follow Jesus.

I herd the devil say you wouldnt say to some one you love,, Love me or i will burn you in hell for the rest of eternity.
I feal the devil is saying this to many athiests around the world and then the devil will say your ok to carry on smoking drugs your ok just do as you please

1 rule number 1 salvation is a free Gift.
2 The law of love is unconditional
3 the law of behaviour is conditional to everyone.
4 Good works is a sign your saved

Basicaly what im saying is the law of love is unconditional, and the law of behaviour is conditional.
The law of love and salvation should not be tied in with the law of behaviour unless your doing Good works, but if your doing bad works then the law of behaviour has no part in the law of love,

I strongly suggest that we should first identify and come to a common ground on exactly what the law of love means. befor anymore wild accusations start flying

We are definitely taught to love even our enemies, but this does not mean to approve of all, and especially it does not mean to pray for what they do for doing that is participating in their sins.

Praqy for our enemies to come to the Light, and when we do, we are acting in love...I hope anways.

Good point jaumej, I feal encouraged by this post. Of course theres many ways we can act in love. Of course praying for each other is high up there because praying is something we can do in Gods name.

My prayer today is the hope we can love each other and remain friends while we discuss the law of love. and many other aspects of the law.

Im also praying that conspiracy does not harm our friendship today. In other words i start a nice chat with yourself. someone comes along and hijacks our converstaion with a conspiracy, buts in and then me and you are no longer friends, because you believe there conspiracy. I think your smarter than that.

It seems to be happening a lot to me. i ask someone a question and sombody else answers it for them and takes over the thread. Turning my honest questions in to a conspiracy.

This is why im praying that this doesnt hapen.

would you like to talk about the law with me JaumeJ

A great new starting point changing direction now

What’s the difference between a good lawyer and a great lawyer?

A good lawyer knows the law. A great lawyer knows the judge :)

I do not mind at all, however I am in and out all day long here, and gone early for the US since I live in Spain. Alos, unless I receive an alert, many times people think I am missing period.

I will say again though, the laws of love are made up of all the things God has already told us we should do or not do, except fot all those finished by our Lord and Savior.

What I mean is, it does not take an expert researcher to know the law telling us not to move our neighbor's land mark to favor our profit is just a tiny part of love.

Respecting others, beginning with our Maker, is only common sense. So we respect and honor those who are our parents and our God.

If Love is not there the law is no more, for it is not forming part of Love. Also, God is Love. I could go round and round, right? I prabably am.

God bless you always. I really cannot say much more about Love. People do tend to take this thinking and pervert it to being u8nder the law. I do not think it is, not in the sight of the One wWho showed us all what is good, and with our Jesus Yeshua, placed it inscrived on the tablets of our Herts.

me to jaumej i simply dont have the time to hang around. but theres no rush to respond. Youve raise some really Good points here to which i will mull over and reply tomorrow to.

Its good to mull over the word. I do feal that we can know God that much more by knowing his law. and also we can know are enemy by knowing the law.

The law of love should not be described and demeanerd to just being under the law i agree. i think thats the issue for why christians get upset. chow chow we can go round and round tomorrow

Please read the Bible.. there are many more verses if you search. Let the bible and the Spirit teach you.

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
Mat 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Mat 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Mat 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Jas 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
Jas 2:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
Jas 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Jas 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
Jas 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

2Jn 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

1Jn_5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn_5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Rev_12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev_14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
