good morning 5:48 here. jad a great meet up with the new church I have been directed to attend. Really ontrack so far.
Only minor bumps in the out look the leaders.
Leadership of a church is a bit of a complicated thing. There are the named leaders and then those who really lead by example and lifestyle choices. Usually there is a bit of a conflict between the two but it's rather amicable.

Official church leadership is concerned with attendance, baptisms and altar call attendance. Then there's their many programs needing volunteers and resources.

The unofficial leaders in the church are concerned about any number of things...and that's where it can get dicey.

And TBH every church I've been to has a completely different culture. Some are more welcoming than others for sure. But I'm always interested in what is going on in the engine compartment. Nevermind the chrome bumpers and paint job....what's going on under the hood? Who are the people there really? What are they focused on with the church? It's not so much about if I can fit in but can I go along?
I love missions...love mission projects. And for me...I like a church that is committed to having a healthy missions program. Others are more locally minded. And there's nothing wrong with that either. But it's not so much for me. YMMV.

Yes there are different 'cultures" of church leadership.
This one is pretty close and the focus is on Bible, yet during the latter part of the meeting a person began asking the pastors thoughts on BLM and politics, which misses the mark and goes back to the temporal.

There was even a mention by the pastor of his belief that there is "systemic racism" in America which simply isn't true and is a product of wrong teaching we have had promulgated- David Barton has worked for years to have the truth brought out, the adversary wars against this.

Juneteenth. A well deserved day of Remembrance.

Juneteenth World Wide Celebration

https://juneteenth.com
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond.

gville dam.jpeg

This is the Guntersville Dam. It creates Guntersville Lake (on the far side of the Dam) where I spend a lot of time fishing. The other day, I decided to drive down to the Dam and do a little fishing there. For obvious reasons, they do not let people get too close to the Dam, but we can sit on this concrete pad and fish.

When they open the Gates/run the Turbines, the current is so strong we can't keep a line in the water. Have to wait for the "down times" to fish. Some people have very good luck here. I usually end up with a few Bream, and being hung up on the rocks and snags in the water. Still, it is a nice, shady place to enjoy the beauty of Gods Creations.
