the kind written by an individual who comes from a society wherein women are not valued as they should be

Appears to be so. Didn't look to see if he was married, hopefully not.

Thank you for not being offended “by his comment about a man's place being head over a woman.” I never used that statement, but it is 100% true.
Actually, it is not "100% true"! Biblically, and therefore for the Christian, it is only true of a husband and his own wife.

It's strange that no one seems to understand the seriousness of the subject!

This is something that I wrote 6 years ago on the subject. You will read it for your enlightenment (hopefully)!:)

"Why do spiritual Christians object to pictures of Christ, especially the popular long-haired effeminate picture of Christ? Because God’s Word forbids such idolatry. "You shall have no image or likeness of God". And Christ is God!

"How did such idolatry come in and corrupt the early Christian church? It began with the Roman Catholic Church – the false Church, the harlot Babylon depicted in the Book of Revelation. Roman Catholicism was spawned by the devil himself; this is the gross unnatural ‘mustard tree’ having the birds of the air (evil spirits) nesting in its branches (Matthew 13:31, 32). The Roman Catholic church with its images, statues, relics, superstitions, vain repetitious prayers (Rosary), its deification of ‘Mother Mary’, its worship of the ‘saints’; with its false doctrines and false practices of the Mass, celibacy of the priests and nuns, belief in purgatory, infallibility of the Pope, etc – is clearly the evil church, the harlot Babylon, that is condemned in Revelation. Yet tragically, millions, brainwashed by false religion, continue to hold on to Roman Catholic beliefs and practices – the most subtle delusion being that of keeping pictures of Jesus in their homes and even posting such pictures on social networking sites on the Internet.

"Jesus was not a white Caucasian; he was a Jew from Palestine, who spent over 30 years in Nazareth. He did not look different from other Jews, nor from His disciples, so much so Judas had to identify Him with a kiss. He was not a Nazarite; rather He was a Nazarene (one who came from Nazareth). A Nazarite wore long hair, and did not drink wine; but Jesus did not sport long hair, and He did drink wine. Paul the apostle declared that it was a shame for men to have long hair, 1 Cor 11.14. Paul was not referring to Jews; he said ‘men’ meaning all men everywhere!

"The Bible clearly declares that Jesus did not look ‘attractive’. Isaiah 53:2 says He had no form or comeliness that we should desire Him. All the pictures of Jesus hanging on the Cross cannot match what Isaiah 52:14 says: “His visage was so marred more than any man.” And yet you see His visage (face), and in many pictures with a halo around His head. The Cross was a grim, terrible business. His visage and form were marred in the most horrible fashion on the Cross. (Yet we are not to focus on the external and physical, but on the internal and spiritual (real) aspects of the Cross - which is exactly what the Bible does through the writings of the Apostle Paul.)

"It is evident that the Roman emperors of that time wore short hair, and the citizens of the Roman empire followed the practice of the Emperor. The Jews also had short hair. Coins and statues show the emperors with short hair. Further, Jesus was the son of a carpenter, and was involved in hard work from a very young age. He was sturdy and strong; He drove out the merchandisers from the Temple with a whip. No weak effeminate man could do that. No weak, effeminate man could endure the agony of the Cross as long as He did.

"So where did this long-haired effeminate picture of Jesus come from? Alexandre Dumas (Pere) talks about a conspiracy hatched in the Papal palace. The Pope at that time wanted all art depicting a Semitic Jesus to be destroyed, and he commissioned paintings of a Caucasian or Westernized Jesus. His son Cesare Borgia, the notorious murderer and debauchee, was the model for these paintings. (The evil Machiavelli admired this inhuman scoundrel!) The celebrated Leonardo da Vinci was involved in this conspiracy; because he was a close friend of Cesare Borgia. It is shocking that this long-haired effeminate Jesus is based on a mass murderer, debauchee and homosexual like Cesare Borgia, and millions the word over have been worshipping this image for centuries.

"The Bible condemns idolatry in no uncertain terms. The Second Commandment forbids it. Further, we are to know Christ no longer in the flesh, 2 Cor 5.16. We are to know Him in the Spirit, and we are to worship Him in the Spirit, John 4.23, 24. During the first centuries of the Church, there were no pictures of Jesus, no images, no idolatry! The present system of Christian worship which is based on man-made tradition, and various violations of the Bible, is nothing but an empty show, a vain religious ceremony – of no worth to God, and insulting to Christ. We are to worship according to the principles of the New Testament, according to the principles shown to us clearly in Acts of the Apostles, First Corinthians and Ephesians. But man, in his depravity and blindness, must corrupt God’s spiritual worship with superstitious practices, fleshly indulgence, carnal exhibitionism and vain self-glory.

"I have been telling people not to put up pictures of Jesus, as it amounts to idolatry – and God hates idolatry! He calls it an abomination. Can the awesome almighty transcendent glorious God be brought down to the level of a sickly effeminate human being? Nothing can be more shocking! I am born of the Spirit of God, and where the Spirit is there is Truth. I cannot but tell the truth – so help me God! Pictures of Jesus are only promoting idolatry, and those who continue in this practice are actually serving the devil!

"Some of you may take this article very lightly and dismiss it as cranky rantings of an over-spiritual man. But the question is: Do you want to obey God and His Word? Or do you want to follow evil tradition, knowing that such pictures of Jesus have been introduced into 'Christianity' by Satan himself?"

He won't tell you, he'll say he doesn't have one. I'll be shocked if he even attends a church. These self appointed preachers never do.

naa peace hippy lol.
well the hairdressers of Israel really want to know

they could have been doing it wrong for centuries.

Jesus could have had a mullet, where his hair was short AND long both at the same time.

MY RESPONSE TO A FALSE NEWSFLASH

I am responding to this post which has vilified a great man of God. The lady in question should not have spread slander against him in this way. Here is my point-by-point rebuttal:

1. A book that preaches sinless perfection.
Reply: The book in question is 'God's Dwelling Place', one of the simplest clearest expositions on the Tabernacle. Nowhere does the writer preach sinless perfection.
2. The passage quoted by the LIQ (lady in question) does NOT preach sinless perfection. It simply talks about the power of the Blood of Jesus.
3. Postman Hunter's paraphrase is a gross misrepresentation of the passage on the power of the precious Blood. He has vilified a great man of God. He has to apologize on this forum and also confess this grave sin before God. Postman has also upset the LIQ with his false paraphrase. She being of an emotional (and not spiritual) temperament has been so agitated that she has slandered me, saying that I believe in sinless perfection. What a joke! I stand strongly on 1 John 1.9, 10. Every day I ask the Lord to show me where I have failed, and I confess before Him.
4. The LIQ say that she recieved a prayer last week from the holy spirit telling me he (charish) has been corrupted by sinless perfection. I beg to submit that she should stop receiving such prayers (or visions or dreams or whatever) and start reading the Bible, preferably on her knees. God will judge all of us by HIS INFALLIBLE WORD.
5. I forgive the LIQ fully for her unseemly behaviour. I notice that whenever I speak the truth and stand by it, the devil gets very upset and he targets me with arrows of slander and vilification.
6. Postman, I forgive you too. You have misjudged the man of God, BS, and you need to read that book again. If it does not open your eyes to the truth about the tabernacle, then I say 'God help you!'.
7. The LIQ, instead of showing the picture of God's Dwelling Place has shown a wrong picture of another book The Temple & The Tabernacle by JDH. I don't want her to apologize to JDH, bec he will just laugh over this silly 'storm in a teacup'.
8. I find the men here in CC incapable of guiding the women in matters of truth. Therefore the men are responsible. Otherwise God will take them to task for misleading these silly high-strung ladies.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
MAY YOU COME INTO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.
(And P.S. Don't ever slander the dead (esp great men of God), because you will have to face the wrath of God (God who says, Touch not my anointed ones!)

smh. we all know Paul said that

Which is significant because Jesus lived under the old covenant which does not bar long hair for men in fact some priests at certain times/vows could not cut their hair. What Paul said was under the new covenant so this would apply to Christian men to not have long hair.

"Does not nature itself teach you...."

No, nature does not teach me that it is shameful for men to have long hair. In fact, there is some emerging research that Paul's comments about hair were rooted in some very much obsolete (mis)understandings about human biology and sexuality.

Hi CharishHaroon.. I am no expert here yet its clear you don't know your history. Yes as Paul was saying a man should look like a man and a woman like a woman. Yet we know it was not always that way in the word and hmm GOD said nothing. Its not SIN not evil not bad if some man has long hair. Are we really going down this path? Why not say the same thing about women with short hair? Not any different. Yet again not a sin not evil not bad.

As one said.. whats long hair? How do we know Christ didn't because of what Paul wrote here? Again not talking about woman then.. lets let this go.

I know men long hair women short hair that are used by God greatly. By that I mean they bring (because of the Father) SO MANY to the lord.. and you/we do what? Talk about hair. If I look at him I don't see woman I look at her I don't see a man. The love they have for the lord for the lost.. wow do they pray!

A picture.. please tell me we know that picture is NOT Christ. I have two and a don't talk to it don't pray to it.. its not evil its not bad its nothing. OH reminds me about Him.. His love why He came what He did. So keep your advice for your self no offense. For the word also says we don't answer to man thats you and me. No one does. If anyone wants a picture a cross and does not bow to it pray to it.. know its not Him. NO I do not believe some girl ever saw Him and panted Him. In that picture He has short hair so that should please some :)

Out of all the things we do not do that the word tell us to.. no one is in heaven is talking about anyones hair. Yeah I can't see every man in heaven having short hair. Poor samson huh. I heard this story .. cute how a someone died saw some little girl that on earth never had hair..she was always sick. They said when they saw her she had so much hair. THey said the lord said.. she always wanted that.. SO I gave it to her. True or not.. I like it. THATS what its like there. "what do you want"? He made it all for US! WHO has GOLD streets? Our Father does.. this is all my thinking.. ME ok?

What denomination are you?
Non-denominational.

For further discussion, we can talk in private.

(These idle, excitable, and one abusive, and one man? who sounds like a woman, and all of them Bible-ignorant — they need to stay out of a healthy private conversation, right?)

Posthuman can join in, provided he reads the whole GDP book slowly (takes 2-3 hours at the most), is convinced that it is Biblical & mainline, and he retracts all those aspersions made against Bakht S. I think he will read it!

“Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him?” (I Corinthians 11:14)

This scripture clearly tells us that if a man has long hair, it is shameful and disgraceful to him. The universal custom for men was to wear short hair, while women had long hair.

Lawrence Schiffman, an authority on Judaism, states: “The Jewish texts ridiculed long hair as something Roman or Greek.” The anthropologist Joseph E Zias, who was also Curator of Archaeology for the Israel Antiquities Authority, who has studied hundreds of skeletons found in archaeological digs in Jerusalem, states: “Jewish men back in antiquity did not have long hair.”

Let us understand, the Holy Spirit Himself, who is the Author of the Bible, inspired Paul to write this portion of his letter to the Corinthians. And therefore it is to be taken seriously as the Word of the Almighty God.

Since all Jewish males had short hair, Jesus could have been easily be spotted, if He had had long hair. But this wasn’t the case.
The Jewish leaders paid 30 pieces of silver to Judas to identify who Jesus was. Jesus looked just like His disciples and like any other normal Jewish male. Isaiah 53:2 says “He had no beauty to attract us to Him, and there was nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.”

In addition to this, Jesus easily escaped from arrest by blending into the crowd every time the Jews tried to seize Him. This happened on at least two occasions in Luke 4:30 and John 8:59.

If Christ had long hair, he would look effeminate. The popular paintings of Christ make Him effeminate, insulting His manhood and His deity.
Jesus was a strong rugged carpenter, a man well acquainted with construction of buildings and furniture, and involved in tasks involving hard labour. With great authority, He drove away the iniquitous merchants in the Temple and overthrow their tables of merchandise. Further only an extraordinarily strong person could have endured the terrible scourging that the Roman soldiers administered to Him, prior to His crucifixion. Even when He gave up His spirit to God, He cried out with a loud voice.

What a shame and affront and insult it is to depict Jesus with long hair! All those who endorse pictures of a long-haired effeminate Jesus will have to stand before a holy and righteous God and face His wrath!

Advice: Do not keep or promote the effeminate and distorted pictures or images of Jesus. Having an image of the Lord Jesus is a direct violation of God's commandment!
"You're all sinners and going to hell."

What Jesus would have done is give people the gospel and teach them about mercy and forgiveness. You totally missed the mark here and this kind of preaching does harm to the image of Christianity.
