Wikipedia: Pope Julius I was the bishop of Rome from 6 February 337 to his death on 12 April 352. He is notable for asserting the authority of the pope over the Arian Eastern bishops, as well as setting 25 December as the official birthdate of Jesus.

It is "official" only by convention and national declarations. It's the day on which most Christians celebrate the incarnation of Jesus Christ. Do you think there is a better day to do so?

There is no biblical instruction to remember the Lords birth, it's a man made celebration

The day chosen surrounds the Pagan Roman Saturnalia in the winter solstice

There is no biblical instruction to celebrate birthdays, Mother's Day, or any other national or civic holiday, but I suspect you do so.

It's a non-issue.

Not an expert on the topic but from what I’ve read the date is chosen from a pagan (satanic) holiday. Apparently most theologians estimate Jesus’s birth to be sometime in September.
I agree, Aug-Sep is the thought I have researched, assuredly not Dec 25th

The shepherds were in the fields with their flocks when the Angel appeared, Dec 25th they are put up for winter

Mothers day, birth days, arent associated with the name of Jesus Christ, the pagan days of Christmas and Easter are

Its very much an issue of following biblical instruction, and Christmas or Easter observance is found no place in scripture

Wikipedia is a joke. Why do you continually use that site as proof text.

Also why would sheep in the Bethlehem area be"put up" in December? The average winter temps are in the mid to low 50s, and sheep have thick wool that the of year? Sheep graze year round in much harsher climates.
While it's not likely that Jesus was born in December Shepard's being in fields with flocks proves nothing.

It appears the truth has struck its target, pretty hard to answer the claim I see, because it's factual :)

Christmas or Easter observance is found no place in scripture

Colossians 2:8KJV

8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

How can you follow "biblical instruction" that does not exist?

I read a lot of statements about paganism being tied to Christian events on here. Paganism (in all its forms) exited long before Christianity.

No matter what day you pick as Christmas or Easter, I’m positive you can find a Pagan event that coincided with it at some point in history. There are only so many days and seasons to choose from, all of which you can find some pagan celebrating something.

How does celebrating the incarnation of Christ "spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit"? How is it "after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ"?

The days of the week are named after nordic gods. Perhaps we should change their names. Why not remember the Lord's birth? It's one of the very few occasions when the world gets to hear at least something about the Lord Jesus. We now know that it was not 25th December. Does it matter? I think not. How about looking at the positives - there are some for sure.

Christmas and Easter glorify Christ, so your reasoning is specious.

Instruction to observe the pagan day of Easter, in the resurrection of Jesus Christ is found no place in the scripture.

Jesus Christ gave a clear directive to the Church

(This Do In Remembrance Of Me)

1 Corinthians 11:23-26KJV
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
