The same thing happened with Carly Simon, too, although a whole play list of
her songs showed up in my mind after you posted one of them a while back
I do not play guitar much any more, but I still have two of them
I used to have three, but down-sized
I sold my classical, and still have my acoustic from the 70s, and my electric + amp
PS ~ guitars are much more portable than drums

I have a classical guitar that was my dad's but he never had the time to learn it. I almost gave up after a couple weeks because I was trying to hold it like a regular acoustic and my arm and fingers were hurting. Then I googled how to hold a guitar and saw a video that mentioned the difference between an acoustic and a classical. I didn't even know there were two kinds. Good thing I didn't try to install a strap on it! -

It's hard to help you out on this one zero... their both acoustic guitars but sound different and feel different lol. The classical may be a bit easier on the fingers and finger tips to start with.
Personally I would go with the steel strung acoustic (the one on the left). Especially as you like to sing. But ultimately the choice is yours there's no right or wrong

I know that I joke around a lot on this particular thread, but the following thought truly popped into my head earlier today, so I thought that I'd just throw it out here to see what anybody else thinks about it.
Would anybody here be interested in committing to praying for one another for maybe a 7 day trial period?
If we could get even a small group of people to join in together, then maybe we could all give a brief list of things we need prayer for and set apart a little time each day (on our own) to pray for each other.
Anyhow, if anybody might be interested in doing the same, then please let me know.

One was first put in my hands as an 18 year old but I did not catch the bug at that time. Following a particularly bad heart break two years later, a guitar was once again put in my hands, and I was shown a simple chord (A minor) to play and move up and down the neck (to the third and fifth fret and back down to the third to return to the first) while my friends played and sang a song. I got hooked at that point, because the instrument seemed to allow me to tap into and express feelings that needed to be expressed and yet would have been difficult to find words for. For many years after that, a guitar was my constant companion, and those friends and I spent a lot of time jamming together, learning songs from each other, and teaching each other the things we learned on our own. My whole world revolved around making music and hanging out with others whose passion was music.
I became quite adept at following others movements on their instruments, even if they played left handed and upside down. The only piece I taught myself by reading music was Beethoven's Ode To Joy. I used to busk and played that one a lot for the public after I learned it. I have also attended open mic nights to sing and play, and recite poetry. Yikes. Haha, that was scary, and quite honestly, at first I had to concentrate so hard on what my fingers were doing that it was quite some time before I could sing at the same time, so mostly I played the instrument and did not attempt the stage until many years after beginning to play guitar. I also composed some music
Not much, but I was desirous of having my poetry put to music, so worked at that for a while also. I found that to be quite beyond my skill level.Seeing how expressive people were when they played, the grimaces and such they made (haha) when they were really making their instrument speak for them as it were, and conveying so much feeling, contributed to my desire to play. I was drawn by how expressive music was, and watching the guitarist, you could SEE a lot of emotion going into their playing, and relate on a level that totally transcended the need for any words.
I have hardly played a all for a very long time, but I did pick up one of my church elder's guitar
a few times recently, and also played Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" on skype for Bob
On a classical guitar, the fingering is a little more spaced out, which gives more room for finger placements on the fret board, though you also have to stretch a little further
Transferring what you might learn on a classical guitar to a steel string/acoustic or electric guitar is not onerous at all. Nylon strings are certainly easier on the finger tips than steel strings, but you will still build up callous -
