Does a Christian in the USA have an obligation to surrender weapons to an oppressive government?

When men and families risk their lives to come here, why would they do that????
They leave gun free countries that are murderous and shooting citizens ( liberal utopias) to come here where thousands WITH GUNS had to die So the ones from gun free zones ( countries) could die trying to get here or die at the hands of those with guns IN GUN PROHIBITED countries.

Mine is handy and loaded.
I saved my little dog a few years ago from a javelina boar. It was chasing my dog then came after me. I hit it with one shot ,2 missed. It walked off real slowly and most likely died. But me and the dog lived.

Get a gun and learn how to use it.
Period.

Get as much ammo as you can.

If nothing else get a .22.

It is extremely lethal in a small easy to use package.

Would have worked wonders on saving jazz.

Pit bulls are not dogs.

This post assumes that there will be a unanimous government wide at all levels consensus. However that's not true. Many states have already made resolutions to protect the second amendment, local governments as well. Tennessee Governor just signed into law constitutional carry statewide, it goes into effect in July. The point is that a gun confiscation attempt is not going to be that cut and dry.

Maybe an actually Biblically relevant question is whether a Christian is obligated to shoot at governing authorities if they didn't vote for them.

Do we need bullets to preach the gospel? Did the apostles try to overthrow Rome when they were being persecuted even to death or did they praise God all the way to their executions, joyous and thankful that they were counted worthy to suffer for the sake of His name?

Seems to me that Peter was told to put away his sword and Christ healed Malchus. Don't you ever wonder why God saw fit to record that man's name in scripture?

That being said every world war the United States was in HAD Christians fighting in them. Jesus said there WILL BE wars and rumors of war. For those who are preaching the gospel no, you should not take a gun, but those who are defending their nation require a sword and spear.

God is a God of war and sin produced the attack on people. God told his people to take the land FYI it was not done with only BBQ & reasoning.

The taking of your ability to defend yourself has nothing to do with the gospel message and everything to do with what has already been done before, Control and removal of those with who one disagrees. Also One too must remember Peter still had a sword even IF Jesus told Him to put it away that NIGHT!

it is foolish to stand and breathe the air of freedom that was achieved by God and those who gave their lives for it and think it is ungodly to fight for one's land that God has given. Please show me in the word of God where the People did not have to always fight the enemy? The People of God only were overtaken when they had SIN in the camp. When there were in right relationship with God THEY killed their enemy.

Sure. But the people who start threads like this are talking about overthrowing their own governments, not about being conscripted soldiers. Their rationale is that they expect and desire to be involved in a civil war.

There's no movement to disarm the populace. There are movements to enforce background checks so that maybe fewer psychopaths will have such easy access to weapons, and to restrict weapons that have zero purpose outside of wholesale human slaughter. You don't need an AK47 with a 100 round drum to defend yourself from a coyote or a burglar or to hunt a deer for food. Why do people have these? Because they expect to kill 30 people with them, no other reason.

We're being strung along by the NRA and people who sell bullets are making millions on our fear.
