“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭KJV

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

....And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:36-38, 41, 47‬ ‭KJV‬‬

To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

....Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:43-48‬ ‭

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭19:5‬ ‭

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:9-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.

And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭72:17-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

‭‭John‬ ‭1:1-4, 9-10, 12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

...For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:2, 5-7, 9, 26-29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Faith has to come from his word so this becomes an example of the hearing of faith

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJ

“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”

@Pilgrimshope is this just a collection of verses on baptism or are you suggesting something?

I myself find how people can call into question baptisms done according to the end of Matthew because they didn't specifically include Jesus name disconcerting.

Like how some people are so burdened in the Lord it seems like to make sure that people are baptized specifically in Jesus name or if you didn't understand it as a DBR then you need to be baptized again...Causes confusion for me personally because of the contrary opinions that are sincerely held.

I'm pretty sure that the heart we come to baptism with is the most important. If it's with ritualism or what I call "incantational theology" then I think there's a serious problem.

Is there a point of discussion here ?
Perhaps his point is that baptism should be solely in the name of "Jesus". There are some who wish to disregard Matthew 28:19, but Church history confirms that Christian baptism has always been in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. That is the commandment of Christ, and supersedes everything else.

One again, were people to understand Isaiah 9:6 there would be no need of discussion on this point of the name of our Maker.

One again, were people to understand Isaiah 9:6 there would be no need of discussion on this point of the name of our Maker.
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭

manifest in the flesh

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:6-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭124:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:1-2, 4, 14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And Received up into glory in order to give us the spirit

“So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬

“This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:32-33, 36‬ ‭

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:9-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭45:22-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I think he is saying that if you Baptize in water in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, because Jesus sent you to do so, then you are in effect Baptizing in the name of Jesus since "in the name of" means by the authority of.

Which I agree with. I will baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus. That way no one can get concerned about it.

And I also make sure that their knees go under the water. We can't have unbaptized knees, that just will not do.

Church history unfortunately is a mixed bag . Some useful some not so useful stuff . And a commandment of Jesus is superceded if he gives a new directive to a different audience at a later time . Like through Paul.

Un baptized knees ? I’m not sure what your saying in that part are you saying complete submersion is a requirement ?

yes no this post began to share scripture showing the name of God is the name of Jesus Christ the name of the father , son , Holy Ghost is one name Jesus Christ

I’m not sure it is meant to talk about strict rules for baptism at all , that wasn’t the point. The point was Jesus , is the name that matters and the reason I think it’s important is because of scripture revolving around it whether baptism as someone noticed in the op

Or whether remission of sins

“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

...(Peter uses this in his testimony about Jesus after this happens )

...And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:6-8, 16‬ ‭

his name is what spread into the gentile people’s and created their faith

“And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:

Even demons know and fear the name of Jesus and shutter and plead

“And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8:29, 31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I was never trying to insist on details of manner of a baptism , I also don’t understand why anyone who studies scripture would not accept the name of Jesus fully and let it be the name above all Names because for me that’s what scripture like the op creates in my faith and why I shared the scriptures to begin with

to hopefully create a focus on him . Because I believe that’s Gods intent with the gospel to turn all eyes to the lord Jesus so they can be saved

the op was nothing but scripture to those ends that a believer might ponder the scriptures what they actually say and let that form a bit of their thinking regarding his name

And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭12:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

even prayer is affected in scriptural thought

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭16:24-27‬ ‭

Because all things are being brought under his command that name is Tom me at least important . I’m not sure about how important the details of how exactly we are baptized or of someone specifically says “ in Jesus name “ when baptizing you that is not really
In my thinking either way

but more to share some scripture and let believers wiegh thier value in faith

20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

I'm wondering if this is an issue if we have the wrong audience at the wrong time .
20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:

which would mean footwashing, healing the sick, cleansing lepers, raising the dead, not taking up an offering, going to Israel only, and keeping the Sabbath, plus pork-abstaining, , and the Sermon on the Mount (see Lev. 11; Matt. 5–7; John 13; and Matt. 10)."

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJ

“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬

God bless you try simple belief in Gods word

I think he is saying that if you Baptize in water in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, because Jesus sent you to do so, then you are in effect Baptizing in the name of Jesus since "in the name of" means by the authority of.

Which I agree with. I will baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus. That way no one can get concerned about it.

And I also make sure that their knees go under the water. We can't have unbaptized knees, that just will not do.

I am not trying to debate which Version we should accept, I just want to bring out something to [light].

If you were to [GOOGLE] Church Fathers/Ancient Historians the [Original Gospel of Matthew was written in Hebrew], you would get literally 10 solid names like Tertulian, Iraneaus, literally a bunch of solid Names VERIFYING that Matthew was actually first written in Hebrew.

But, have you ever read the [Most authentic Hebrew Version of Matthew 28?

Here is the Ending to that Version for Matthew 28"
17 When they saw him they worshipped him, but there were some of them who doubted him.
18 Jesus drew near to them and said to them: To me has been given all power in heaven and earth.
19 Go
20 and (teach) them to carry out all the things which I have commanded you forever.

So, let's say all those Church Fathers are correct about Matthew being written in Hebrew. What if the Hebrew version is how it really happened and then the Greek translator added the Titles of God?

Just something to ponder.
