Actually, the woman who rides the beast is Roman Catholicism. i.e. Babylon the Great. Scripture supports this with the following clues:
* The woman you saw is that great city that rules over the kings of the earth - Rev.17:18
At the time that John was receiving this information from the angel, the city that ruled over the kings of the earth was Rome.
* The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.
So, the woman is a city and she sits on seven hills. Rome was literally built on and is famous for her seven hills.
* The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls.
Purple and scarlet are the exact colors worn by the bishops and cardinals:

Yes! Jesus is the One who gave John the information in the book of Revelation which is where I got the information that I provided in that post.
There are two women in Revelation, one in Rev.12 which symbolically representing the nation Israel, as revealed in Genesis 37:9-10. And the other woman is in Rev.17 who is mystery, Babylon the great, which is Roman Catholicism and which is a counterfeit church.

All the above says is that, that generation of Israel is going to be held accountable for the blood of the prophets. It has zero reference to the woman who rides the beast.
We have to look at the clues in the context where the woman is first mentioned, which I have already listed in the previous post.

At the time that John was receiving this information, Jerusalem was not ruling over the kings of the earth, nor has it ever. But Rome was.
* The seven heads are seven hills upon which the woman sits
Jerusalem was not built on seven hills, but Rome was and is famous for them.
* The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet and glittering with gold and precious gems
As previously posted and complete with photos, purple and scarlet are the exact colors worn by the bishops and cardinals of Roman Catholicism.
There is no need to go outside of Revelation to understand who the identity of the woman is, for it is contained right in the context.

Hello Ahwatukee, I think you are overlooking the key that identifies the woman. She is a real woman. She is married. She places herself over her husband. And all the blood ever shed on earth is on her hands. When the earth opened it's mouth to accept Abel's blood, that was all the blood ever shed on earth. He was the first prophet and martyr.
It's her blasphemies and guilt that substantiates her identity over her outward appearance. All the blood from the foundation of the world is on her hands.

You are correct! There are indeed believers in Christ within Roman Catholicism, of which God is calling them to come out of her i.e. to come away of her believes and practices. For regarding those who belong to Christ whom the woman has deceived, He says:
"Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes."
Prior to 1798, the popes of Roman Catholicism controlled kings and their armies, via the threat of excommunication from the church.

He goes into the history of this counterfeit church starting from Constantine who as Emperor became the first pope and goes up through the popes and their ungodly actions up through the generations.
The popes of today still believe in that Emperor/pope authority. In fact, it is stated in their dogma which says that the pope is ex cathedra, meaning 'from the chair,' i.e. with the full authority of office (especially of the Pope's infallibility.)
They believe that every person on the planet should come under the authority of the pope and belong to the RCC or suffer the consequences. However, they currently do not have the power to enforce that authority. But when that antichrist/beast is revealed, she, the woman, will ride him i.e. use his power and authority to reestablish her religious authority. At that time she will be able to enforce her authority over the inhabitants of the earth.
I personally believe that one of the future popes will play the part of the false prophet, who will be the one who will perform those miracles, signs and wonders, even causing fire to come down out of heaven in the sight of the inhabitants of the earth. He's also the one who will cause all to receive his mark and the one who will have the image of the beast made in his honor. This will all be done by the second beast who is later referred to the false prophet.

Anyone who was already devout, will be even more so and it will draw in the rest of the unbelieving world. Primacy of the Pope is their primary heresy. There are many other idolatries, saint worship being the most egregious. It's sad that most catholic folks just don't know what the Bible says.

How can a real woman be a city that sits on seven hills? We need to be able to discern between what is literal and what is symbolic and the information regarding here is definitely symbolic. Here are some examples:
"I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides"
If she was a literal woman, why would the angel need to explain her mystery. What he is saying to John is, 'I will reveal to you who the woman figuratively represents.'
"With her the kings of the earth committed adultery, and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries"
If you are believing that she is a literal woman, then you would be saying that all of the kings of the earth will have committed literal adultery with her and as well as all of the inhabitants.
"The woman you saw is that great city that rules over the kings of the earth"
How can a literal woman be a city?

"The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire."

I believe that is enough to prove my point, that the woman, also referred to as Babylon the Great and the great prostitute and as she and her, is not referring to a literal woman, but is figurate representing that city that sits on seven hills which is pointing to the headquarters of the religious system of Rome.
