I don't condone looking like the world, especially the worst of the worst. It makes no sense looking like the world, acting like the world, & especially running with the world and call yourself a christian. Such are babes at best & hypocrites at worst.

Imaging Jesus condemning the pharisees while dressing like one. Or the scribes. Or the priests.

A lot about being a person is about appearances (in case you haven't noticed). This applies to everyone (Christian or non-Christian). If an individual cannot even take proper care of himself or his appearance, how can he be expected to take proper care of the business of other people?

There was a saying which was true in former times, but it is still true today: "Clothes make the man" (or woman). And when we go to the Bible, we see that God was very particular about how his priests dressed and looked. Now Christians are a royal priesthood, which means that the same principles apply. A word to the wise is sufficient.
So that's how you feel about the poor.
Huh I wonder what scripture says?
As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
Matthew 11:7‭-‬9 ESV

I guess John the Baptist was a bum useless and had nothing to offer. Because he didn't keep up appearances. Oh wait Jesus had otheimgs to say as well about appearances. He called the pharisees white washed tombs. Because they dressed the part and put on the show but were rotten to the core.

My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court? Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called?
James 2:1‭-‬7 ESV

"The clothes make the man" is such a worldly statement and sinful to the core. Such an evil statement.

Well your pastor in the video looks just like every worldly lawyer and politician out there. Suit and tie is just as worldly as spandex and spikey hair.
The fact is clothes are an idol if you make it so, which this "pastor" did in his speech. Condemning young folks who desire to notook like the world but not having any real direction or teaching.

Not about the poor. Only about the slovenly.
You can believe that a person who takes time to spike their hair isn't "sloven". That takes work.
I guess you would call me slovenly, because I'm a mechanic and my nails and cuticles often have black diesel freeze, and my hands are stained and scared from it, and I don't have money for fine clothes so I wear jeans often worn and faded, and shirts of the same. You know what? Don't bother talking toe anymore. Judgemental jerk.

One year when I was at youth camp. A rejected boy was outside talking to me about how he was so damaged, and hurt by all the things of his life. When suddenly a mob of well dressed kids lead by their youth leader came out and surround that kid and accused him of stealing some pants, while he frantically tried to explain that he didn't steal them. Just as they were about to punch this guy I stepped in and said if you attack this guy you will fighte as well. This mob went back to their cabin, and I sat and talked with this guy. He gave his life to Jesus the next day. He cried say no one had ever took a stand for him in his life, but this raggedy man did, and one soul got saved for it.

Fake Christians are about clothes and other such idols. Real Christians are about Jesus and his word, and his body and his blood.

You mean stuff like if you have purple, or spikey hair, or tight pants, or spandex you're a fake Christian. Because being a Christian is about appearances.

I noticed a lot of Pentecostal-ism is like that. Women with their hair in buns, and those long denim dresses, and the guys with their screwed down hair dos and clean shaven face.
It's not complicated.

No one really cares about the clothes and hair now days. Even David Wilkerson changed toward the end. I heard him talk about how in the 60s he told young men to cut their hair and then in the 90s when skinheads were popular he said, "what am I going to do tell them to grow their hair" and he preached about the heart. There are different ways youth show rebellion and try to shock. The real issue is why they feel the need to do that.

Right, it's idolatry of human cultural appearances expectations. As said by someone here, "the clothes make the man". Which is a very worldly view. I'm Goddly because I dress right and have the right hair cut, not because I profess Christ. If fact according to this codswallop of a message, professing Christ has no meaning because of not conforming to outward appearances standards. But look at what isaiah said about Jesus,
For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him.
Isaiah 53:2 ESV

He also criticized people, saying the give mental accent, but aren't real Christians. When scripture says, what a man thinks so he is.
This is the real problem, faith in works is faith in self. To which Christ has issued a warning.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Matthew 7:21‭-‬23 ESV

You quoted, "what a man thinks so he is", and then quote a scripture about such people who thought they were saved while Jesus "I never knew you".

Perhaps you should rethink this post. :)

I don't think you are understanding what that verse meant. In the context where it appears in scripture it is talking about not trusting the motives of a man who is acting nice to your but inside is thinking ill toward you because as a man thinks so is he, that is who he really is,
Prov 23
6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:

7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

8 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words

They thought they would be saved by their works. Which is contrary to Christ.
They weren't trusting in Christ,
The people that this guy was criticizing were saying they believe in Jesus but he could not see what he called works.
The point is if you think you are trusting Christ then you are.

If I think I'm trusting Christ, but show no true trusting actions towards Him, I'm not trusting. It's just vain thinking. Faith without works is dead being alone.

He was known to be harsh in the 80s, but changed and became a bit more balanced in the late 90s and 2000s, but he is not a Calvinist and did believe in the possibility of apostasy. He was not a OSAS preacher.

I don't know why you are bothering to stoop to talk to this lowly peasant anyway, I don't dress well enough for y'all. In my old boots, jeans, shirt and suspenders, and hat. With my old scared up stained hands and weather worn face.
So I'm gonna sit here and listen to a real preacher read passages from the Bible and expound and exegete. Not some puffed up peacock.

I'm not calvanist either nor am I osas.

I can't know from your clothes or hair do. I can only know if I bother to get to know you and hear your heart.
