Is flesh "essence"?
Dictionary just says essence = basic nature.
Is flesh "essence"?
"Essence" usually denotes something immaterial. We are born of the flesh. Flesh is not immaterial.Dictionary just says essence = basic nature.
Essence is what we are. Consciousness is our perceiving.

were you born into a sect, or something like that ?Essence is what we are. Consciousness is our perceiving.

if you were to lose the ability to perceive things but still be able to think about what you have perceived in the past, wouldn't consciousness still exist ???
Sure, lots of people lose things like taste and smell when they get sick. Doesn't mean they have lost consciousness.
would that mean that the person is a dummy ?I meant in that post, the complete loss of all sensory perception not just merely the loss of some sensory perception
It seems you didn't read the whole post, The bible doesn't contradict itself, and the meaning of Spirit Soul and Body in Greek, is Air breath and body which confirms what i was saying. We are spirit, soul and body.....
1 Thessalonians 5:23 King James Version (KJV)
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 10:38-39 King James Version (KJV)
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
Not in the context of this statement:Might 'essence' be a short way of sayin' "essencial component"?
Essence is what we are.
would that mean that the person is a dummy ?
yes, I've been following the thread.yes
I directed the post to VickyK because she said that "consciousness is our perceiving" and I disagree with that claim because we know that even without perception, consciousness would still exist if thinking occurs
