One very good thing that has come out of this is that many of the false prophets have been exposed and the sheep that were gullible have a chance to make a decision to hold them accountable. These men and women were claiming Spirit authority for their prophesy and they were not speaking from God at all. What will their flocks learn from it? Hopefully that many are too quick to claim God has shown them something when God has in fact hidden it, or not revealed it and does not plan to.
Whey would they say that God showed them when He didn't? It could be a foundational error in how to hear the voice of God. It could be that they are under the impression that certain feelings, or "confirmations" that are coincidences are proof that God is sending them a message. Or it could be that they are hearing supernatural voices from lying spirits because they have sinned against the Lord in secret so many times when they had the chance to repent that God gave them over to their lusts. I believe this happens a lot and that is why the story is in the Bible in the context of prophets who believed they were hearing from God and were not.
I know it is the kind and christian heart that wants to believe that most of these men and women are well meaning believers in the gift of prophecy but they just made some innocent mistakes because it is not a perfect science, this operating in the gifts of the Spirit and people are allowed to make mistakes. Sounds good, but I already knew that these people were off and why do I know that and they don't? Why do they say things from the pulpit that makes me want to repent on their behalf, (if that were possible) Because they are hardened and given over to their error. There is an underlying wickedness that has been trafficked over time that has brought them to this place of being able to sin in the pulpit without shame.
I thank God these false prophets were exposed. Here is a hint. If they call themselves a prophet they aren't. Especially if they use it as a title. But most of you in CC know that.
Does the Holy Spirit speak to us about things to come? Of course, much of it is in the bible. It will be what He wants to reveal not what we want Him to reveal to us.
God did not tell any of these self proclaimed prophets who was going to win the election and I am glad about that. Maybe their flocks will wise up now.
And if they knew the voice of the Spirit they would have said.. "God has not told me who is going to win, and I am not asking Him to do so, get out and vote, and vote your conscience and don't let anyone tell you you are not a Christian based on your vote" that is what they should have said.
I am stepping of my soap box now. I am glad I got that off my chest.
