purpose of this thread is to address the actual facts of the voting process in the US

Biden is actually not the President elect, other than by declaration of the news media. the media does not create nor do they enact actual 'law'

the media's call for anyone, not just Biden, as the President Elect may hold public opinion, as in this case we know it does, but it is not law and the election is not over and I am not referring to any law suits

However, there are many lawsuits in effect; this thread is not to discuss those, but rather present the actual election process. I am learning about this process myself and I think it is far more beneficial to understand that, than it is to insult others and celebrate a premature decision when there is still so much more to go.

following posts will contain information on the actual election process.

Biden may become the next President, but it is still undecided even without reference to Trump

Federal law allows states more than month after the election to finalize the results. This year, the date for that finalization is Dec. 8.
From now until then, election officials can determine whether provisional ballots are valid. In many states, overseas military ballots are given a 'grace' period to arrive late. (not to be confused with the current practice of extending ballot counting by as much as a week.)

If states have finished the certification process, certification of the results in voting, Congress pledges not to dispute those results. Legal experts will state there is some legal ambiguity though. The trailing candidate can also play for time by requesting recounts and even paying for them if the margin isn't close enough.

A close result would be state-funded.

May I ask where you heard that?
Do you have Facebook? Any post or news story about the election has the Facebook “minders” put “see election results “. Click on that to see the map and results. And as we know, Facebook hates the true President, so they’re not crazy about doing it.

The President "elect" for the next four years, whether it be Trump or Biden, is decided by the Electoral College, not by the press (who called it for Biden yesterday).

Yes Joe Biden is officially the president-elect.
Trump is trying to take it to supreme Court but I imagine they will probably toss it out

Right now; the most important thing is what is going on in the Congressional races. IF the Republicans lose the Senate, I fear what our Nation will be subjected to with the Democrats in FULL control except for the Supreme Court. But then, they have already said if they get the power, they will "stack the Court" with Liberal Judges to take control of the Supreme Court as well. If they do this, they will probably have control of SCOTUS for decades.

Infringement on civil rights (Republican observers not being allowed in counting rooms) and various other issues raised on the integrity of the voting process (such as Pennsylvania making unconstitutional rules on ballots/voting) are pretty big so I expect the Supreme Court will review and make a judgement on these cases (even if they do not agree).

If this happens we best take our Founding Fathers advice in the Declaration of Independence.

yes we know about that

but this thread is trying to only post facts....the process of the election

the actual process and not the craziness going on

the main thing to note, is that the media has overstepped and declared Biden the winner and the electoral collage actually does that

next installment on the ACTUAL voting process

once the state by state lineup of electors is settled, (meaning voting in the electoral college), the most important date is Dec 14, which is when the electors from each state cast their ballots

on that day, the electors sign and seal 6 certificates listing their votes for the president and the vice president. One certificate is sent to congress, two are sent to the secretary of state in their state, two are sent to the National Archives and one is sent to the court of the district in which the electors have assembled.

If these certificates are not received by Dec 23, either the sitting VP or the archivist of the US 'SHALL SEND A SPECIAL MESSENGER TO THE DISTRICT JUDGE' who must hand over his original copy IN PERSON. Failure to do this, incurs a $1000.00 fine

As of now he has enough delegates to claim to be the president elect. He is not the official president elect until president Trump cedes the election, or after the electoral college declares him the winner.

FAITHLESS ELECTORS:

the number of electoral votes earned by each candidate could vary from what they seemed to have won if 'faithless' electors decide to vote for someone other than their candidate.

this has happened occasionally in small numbers in recent decades (including as recently as 2016, whe 2 Texas electors did not for Donald Trump and a Hawaii elector and 4 Washington state electors did not vote for Hillary Clinton) BUT it has never been enough to shift the result

This year, the Supreme Court allowed states greater leverage in requiring electors to cast their assigned votes.

not so.

there is a process of election that far too many are disregarding and rumors are flying

this thread is a factual account of the ACTUAL process

Biden is not the current president elect. Trump is still the actual president and we will not know more until all of the process is enacted. in fact, social media is spouting untruths and getting people worked up as they usually do

I know what it means. I started the op and I know what it means

HE IS NOT CURRENTLY THE PRESIDENT ELECT!!!!

read the process of election

if you insist on being right, and this is not a question of debate here, this is a question of LAW, then please do not let me stop you

but, you are wrong

the media does not hold 'force of law' no matter what anyone on the planet may think

the electoral college must vote before anyone becomes 'elect' and you can find the process for that above or you can look it up
