How did God die for our sins, if God cannot die?

Yes. He says 'I'. He does not say Jesus. It is not possible that Jesus always existed, as the first man was ADAM.
Jesus did always exist as a man. Before he became a man Scripture states clearly that he was the Word.
John 1

When I first read that I thought it said without 'skin'.
Well, that's weird... I thought. That whole sentence is weird. I was thinking at first, who is the First divine person, Adam? No, you must mean of the three 'persons' the Lord Jesus is the 2nd divine person...
I don't know why we have to agree with anyone's first principle. Did God die? Yes, on the cross. Then He resurrected to show He was God...
People try so hard to separate the Lords humanity from His Godhood but I don't think we understand enough to make guesses about it.
Then Adam was not the first man
Sure he was. The Word didn't become flesh until 4,000 years after Adam.

Who created Adam? Who did Adam walk with? We are told no one has seen the father. Yet Adam walked with God. Who was it? Who did Moses speak to
In the burning bush. Who said his name is I am. (Literally always existed). Which is the same words Jesus used when he said before Abraham was I have always existed (literally I I am) and why they wanted to stone him because he claimed to be God?
God. This answers all your questions. When 'Jesus' said he had always existed, he does not specify whether he is referring to Jesus or God.
