There are those who identify themselves as Catholic, and some as Protestant but God know His own born again believers who often identify with neither.

You're seriously mistaken. No one prays to Jews. No one asks a Jew to intercede to the Father for them. Hail Mary's are simply wrong. There is no one, man nor woman, between us and Jesus. We can go directly to the throne because of the cross. No pope, no Mary, no priest, no preacher.
Meh... Ya, I think the Hail Mary's are weird. Whatever. I also happen to think that pentecostal speaking in tongues is weird. And I think that churchian infatuation with all things jew is super weird. They practically worship Israel.

If it wasn't for the Catholics, all of Europe would be Islamic today. They saved Christendom. They fought for us. We owe them some respect for that alone.

I think Catholics are Christian.
Do some people consider Catholics not to be Christian... WoW... I didn't know that.
I thought the definition of a Christian was a person who believes in Christ
I can't even image the argument one could make for that claim...

So if the RCC isn't Christian than wouldn't that mean that every church that came from it are also not Christian?

@PC123, I think it's very interesting that you posted this subject about how people hate Catholics in light of your signature:
"The further people stray from the truth
the more they will hate those who speak it"

Perhaps part of the reason that some people hate Catholics so much is because the Catholics are speaking some truth???
Oh geez i didn't notice how provocative that looked with this thread...
I didn't mean to make it look that way... Its a quote by George Orwell in reference to society

Reading Church History and the horrors and atrocities perpetrated by the Roman Catholic Church will cause many to view all RCC as that evil empire. That is why. They are painting with a broad brush not understanding that millions of individuals do not know about the history or do not have the same world view and are simply trying to find God. They have forgotten the admonition in the scriptures...

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Also remember that there are all sorts of people on an internet chat site and some are mature, and kind, some are immature and troll like in their behavior, they will vent hatefulness on almost every topic.

That venting of immature hatefulness is a lust of the flesh and they are indulging in wickedness each time they do it, for the negative pleasure it brings them. They have not been surrendering everything to Jesus and repenting of all known sins so they are hard in their heart and seared in their conscience, venting and being mean and rude to others without feeling shame and conviction. Fortunately we have an ignore option so we do not have to be provoked by their vitriol.

but the things they are wrong about will have eternal consequences
All of the many that do not teach to solely trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of God in the flesh, in the form of His Son,Jesus Christ
Can u guys please be more specific. I asked which doctrines would send Catholics to hell.
So far i've only had one which is intercession with Mary. What else?

Do some people consider Catholics not to be Christian... WoW... I didn't know that.
Don't you get that feeling based on most of the responses to this thread? It's called purity spiraling. If you don't believe exactly like me, then you must not be Christian at all! I think that these people are honest and sincere. But I also think that purity spiraling is a tool used by our enemies to destroy unity within Christianity.

IMO, perhaps the saddest point in the history of mankind was Martin Luther's schism from the church. He had some valid points. The church should have said "Yup, you're right! Selling indulgences is wrong! We'll stop!" But instead, they let pride take over and and attacked the messenger. Then Luther, feeling attacked, went too far and divided Christianity. Others followed and now we've got thousands of protestant denominations. This division led to one brother war after another. I think it's clearly the work of satan.

IMO, if you put your faith and trust in Jesus, then you're a Christian. Most everyone has some sort of weirdness going on along with that, but I think they're still Christian.

Dang it, I needed to do a little editing on that post, but didn't get done in 5 minutes limitation. "clearly the work of satan" is not how I ought to have said that.

Well I'm not familiar with all Catholic theologies but once a person is dead, they are gone. You cannot buy or pray them into heaven. A priest cannot forgive your sins, only Jesus can. No one can answer your prayers, not Mary, not saints, only Jesus can do that. The rosary has no power. Just a few of the most serious doctrines of the church that are wrong. I don't hate Catholics, I have friends and family that go to that church. But they know how I feel and they have free will. I hope they change their minds, but I leave that with God.

All men must bow the knee to Christ or remain condemned. I feel as though Finney was the guy that introduced and promoted the false notion that a mental belief is sufficient for salvation in Christ. This is the most egregious error of modern Christendom.

True belief in Christ, true repentance and resulting rebirth is only accomplished when the Holy Spirit brings the conviction Jesus taught in John 16:8-11.

Many today talk about Christ but they do not evidence that they truly know Christ. They do not evidence that they have believed into Christ and have placed themselves wholly and without reservation into the grace of God.

Mat 7:21 These have a profession without possession. Religion is not regeneration unto eternal life.

For the cause of Christ

Firstly in the Catholic encyclopedia it say that if you are not a Catholic you are doomed to go to hell
I don't know who writes this Catholic encyclopedia but the RCC doesn't teach that now.

The same applies for the Catholic church. There is no such a thing as separate or different thinking Catholic who doesn't abide strictly by the rules, regulations and doctrinal beliefs dictated by the Catholic leadership. If you do think differently then you are not a true Catholic and if you claim to be a Catholic but think differently and do not abide by the doctrinal beliefs of the Catholic church you are rejected from both sides of the fence because the Catholic church is full of paganism.
Thats a question I was asking myself a while back. Am I a Catholic? Some people like yourself say no and i understand why. But the RCC doesn't demand that I pray to Mary.

How many doctrines and dogmas are there... Your saying if i question one of them im not Catholic... By that logic anyone who questions something in the bible isn't Christian and the best way to learn about something is to ask questions about it... That's why my priest laughed at me why I asked him if I was a Catholic

My advise to you is get yourself away from the Catholic church and the Catholic bible
The Catholic Bible? Do u mean those extra 6 books?
LoL. Why, whats so dire about reading those books?

turn to a NKJ bible and strictly adhere to what the Word of God says
If it's anything like the KLV then forget about it. I struggle to keep up with ye old English. I often use multiple sources if im trying to get a better understanding of a certain passage.

get yourself hooked up with a nondenominational church
Mate, looking for another church, learning about all these other beliefs and doctrines was just too confusing... Why do u recommend that church? Non-denomination sounds like non-Christian... If its not a denomination of Christianity then what exactly is it a denomination of?

Sorry, but you sound like a Catholic apologist masquerading as 'neutral'.
Indulgences was only the spark which led to the core issue of justification by faith ALONE.
It was Rome that first left the faith and began introducing the traditions of man...like chumming up to Rome and introducing Priestcraft/Sacerdotalism into the Church.

I believe God is far greater than anything I can understand
True. I think some people have the tendency to try and have an answer for everything.
I love the humility that comes with just saying "God, i don't know, only you do" when it comes to much of theology...

I was taught it is faith and works and I know Protestants say you cant work your way into Heaven ... I agree. but the thing is it is also said that when you are born again you change and you just naturally become a better person.
So is there really an argument there ... kind of like which came first, the chicken or the egg. (not that simple). the point is that whether you think that being Saved is an ongoing thing dependent on what you do OR that you are saved on a particular day in a particular moment? Call it not sinning and call that works to not sin?
I dont know. Do the differences really matter? It would be nice we catholics and protestants could just unite and accept one another.
thats all.
Ah that was so well written, the chicken and the egg, thats gold. Its a pointless conversation isn't it. I wish i could put it as eloquently as u just did... LoL

Both of us are baptized and both of us believe in Christ so we're both born again which ever way u look at it... And no one wants to approach God with bad deeds do they...

So i see very little difference between the two views, only chicken and egg stuff.
I see bigger disagreements between other churches like OSAS and becoming sinless

Well I'm not familiar with all Catholic theologies but once a person is dead, they are gone.
Not exactly. All the saints -- OT and NT -- are presently alive in Heaven with Christ, in the New Jerusalem (Hebrews 12:22-24). That is, their souls and spirit, which are awaiting the resurrection of the saints. Their bodies are dust but will be glorified.
You cannot buy or pray them into heaven.
If they are truly born again children of God, they go to Heaven immediately upon their deaths. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

However, the Catholic idea of intercession to Mary and the saints is false. There is only ONE MEDIATOR between God and men -- the Man Christ Jesus.

the biggest sin in the doctrine that is leading people to hell is the doctrine of the catholic church known as "Transubstantiation"

they believe the wine & bread turn into the actual blood and body of Jesus. Therefore How could you not go to heaven having received the literal body and blood of the Lord Jesus? Every Mass performance this. In fact, you can't partake if you are not a catholic. They don't ask you if you are one to receive it but they will tell you before you do.

Ok so these are some of the most serious teachings that will send a Catholic to hell...

Hail Mary's is the obvious one to me. But...
Do you go to hell if you pray for a dead soul? Biblical citation please
Do you go to hell if you confess to a priest? Biblical citation please.
The priest doesn't forgive our sins, God does.

Is that all? I was expecting something more dire than those two, their not things that i could imagine being thrown into the lake of fire for

I promise you I am not Catholic. I've gone to a couple of traditional latin masses and basically liked what I saw there. But I haven't been to their catechism. I can't begin to follow their missals. There is a lot of Catholic stuff that I don't personally agree with. I think Francis could well be satanic.

But I will tell you that I think that we have gotten a LOT of anti-Catholic propaganda over the years. And that makes me suspect that there is something there that someone is trying to hide from us. I went to Rome a few years ago. It really opened my eyes to the possibility that maybe I hadn't gotten the whole story on church history and Catholicism.

If the priest doesn't forgive sin why do you say "bless me Father, for I have sinned"? Why are you confessing to a man at all instead of to Jesus, who forgives sin? The Bible is clear that once you have died you go to heaven or hell, there is no in between, there is no holding place till your family pays your way into heaven. If you read the Bible for yourself, and many Catholics don't, you'd know this. I assume you do read the Bible for yourself. The pope is not Christ on earth, in or out of the "chair" he doesn't speak for anyone but himself. He has no power, he's no closer to God than anyone else. Now, I'm not saying there aren't sincere people in the church, God knows the heart but these are very serious heretical teachings that are leading people astray. Now you asked the question. It's not fair of you to get angry at people who answer your question.

those things will not send you to hell but they do not get you into heaven either. And that is what they are taught.

I have Catholic friends that absolutely believe the priest forgives their sin. They believe the Pope is Christ on earth and his word is law. They believe they can pray and pay a loved one into heaven. All this is heresy and I'm not certain it's a matter of salvation but I wouldn't want to wait to find out.
