I was thinking on this topic, why are there wars?

When people decide to fight a war, and they win, what exactly do they win? Are they actually any better off after they win?
what happens to the people who lose?
wouldnt they just feel bad that they lost and decide to gear up to fight ANOTHER war after another couple of years to win back what they lost? So every couple of decades there will be another war on a bigger scale than before and even more devastation?

Who sets up these war games anyway? Isnt war-mongering just another one of Satans tools to keep people fighting and killing each other and dying?

In war, there is no win-win, so even if one side wins, the one that loses has to keep fighting to win the next war anyway. Its not like they are going to get along with each other is it since after fighting against each other they are sworn enemies.

This question was answered long ago, by a career soldier. His book is called War Is A Racket, and his name is Major General Smedley Butler. I quote the first paragraph.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one
international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small "inside" group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes."

wow, this guy tells like it is...what are people training for, they are not being trained to be dancers lol

each year thères a memorial to dead soldiers at ANZAC and theres war memorial museums and libraries, and sometimes I wonder, why would people WANT to remember a horrible thing like war.

its not like we won anything thousands of men died, women lost husbands, sons, potential fathers, we had to work twice as hard to recover from it, entire families traumatised, and a few people in power got very rich rebuilding, and everyone has to pay huge taxes to start all over again.

and oh, now people are dying from cancers released by chemical weaponry thanks to the war. Yea war.

I think of poor people that had been colonised roped into stupid wars, giving their lives to some forwign arguments because some rich crazy guys wanted MORE territory.

And also remember the old saying, divided they fall. While everyone is fighting against each other, hatred raises its ugly head. Exactly what satan wants.

isnt it in the Bible A house divided cannot stand.

Reading the end of 'war is a racket' it was saying scientists were the next anniahlators developing poison gases to wage war. Well, Ernest Rutherford did split the atom which meant that nuclear power could be harnessed, basically blowing everything apart. He did forsee it could be used for evil purposes.

Now I wonder why the current school curriculum is now emphasising STEM topics...do they want children to start learning how to kill one another through science and technology. Nobody ever suggests children learn parenting skills as part of the curriculum, or gardening (all of these essential life skills are purely voluntary taught) but somehow if we learn how to build a really tall building or missile or complex video game where people shoot each other all day thats all good.

Albert Einstein, quotable quote, "If I knew what I created would cause such mass destruction, I would have become a plumber"...

hmm dont know about the weapons of mass destruction part, but it seems Einstein was labelled a communist sympathiser by people who didnt think he was american enough. So he couldnt teach or practise science the way he wanted to.

I thought mcarthyism was one of those bigoted witchhunt things that died out in the 1700s but no. Its still around today, thanks to silly 'cold war' which meant billions of dollars spent on space junk to see who can rule the universe. But you know what, so what if you can send things into space. It doesnt make that much of a difference to the majority of people on living on earth.

if you wanna have a war in space, well fine, send people up there to battle it out on the moon but dont bother having your wars here on earth.

are you meaning armageddon.

some christians believe that we wont be here when that happens. I dont think we will be actively participating in it but then things happened in Megiddo BC and its already in ruins so maybe its just symbolic of what would happen.

when cities fall into ruin often people living there just build them up again I havent really seen many cities completely abandoned its hard to imagine. Even when the world trade towers were smashed in 9/11 that didnt put New Yorkers off from continuing to live there.

The OP is actually quite clever and effective.

An open mind automatically answers each question as they read them. Yes, it has opinions throughout the post, but doesn’t force the reader to agree or disagree at that moment. It pushes the person to think, if not for a moment about the subject covered.

I think we all can agree that nothing is worse than a baited Thread name where a question is asked only to setup the “Real purpose of the OP” and where the creator of the thread later swoops in and splashes their doctrine in a cleverly disguised ramble of what “it really means, and how you should think like they do” reply.

(...also, the creator usually never takes the time to be respectful and reply to all of the people who took their time and effort to respond to their original question)

...safe to say l think those type of threads bug everyone on here?

(Sorry, l accidentally replied to Scribes post above too somehow?...still learning this layout)

If we are going to have war, lets do it the old way.
Let the king or president lead the army on the field of battle.
If the king or president will not lead, than no one should follow.

Einstein, sadly, made a contract with the devil. He came up with amazing scientific theories which were given to him in return of his soul. Now he is reaping his rewards in hell.

you could lobby to send the US president to the moon, that would be a welcome relief. The US has the techonology to get some people off this planet. Why arent they using it?

hmm I dont think Im being clever. Just raising a topic, everyone is free to put their thoughts in.
Im not sure why Star Wars is such a popular movie though.
I guess you have to make the enemy as non-human as possible which is possibly better than having humans fight and destroy each other. (or other animal and plants on this planet, which is another story...I mean, what have weeds and lions ever done to you personally??)

Just to many Liberal Democrats in the US. Would bankrupt the country to make 1000's of moon trips to send all of them there.

No, I believe that she was just talking about Trump. Get Him as far away as not to do any more damage to this Country...
