What I do:

I focus on one thing at a time when I'm praying for direction. Alone, in sincere and earnest prayer seeking His guidance via the Holy Spirit. The guidance does not always come at once. Patience is sometimes required, and, as is shown in Scripture, it may be necessary to pray/ask again and again.

Gods time is not our time, but God is always on time.

That "still, soft voice" is sometimes hard to hear when we are caught up in our helter skelter lives.........

Ditto what our friends said above. Read a few Scriptures in the NT, where the Holy Spirit is introduced, and ask for wisdom. And yes wait, prayerfully not ages lol, but wait for the Holt Spirit to make clear the Truth:).
