Pulie,may I ask how long have you been a Christian?..I was born again 28 yrs ago...I remember it,like it were yesterday.
Saying it is necessary to do works or you are not SAVED, IS EXACTLY THE SAME THING.
Salvation the moment when we were SAVED, and I believe in Predestination.
So we were it says HE KNOWS WHO ARE HIS, and HE wrote our NAMES IN BOOK OF LIFE BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF TIME.
HE worked out the precise EVENTS to lead us to the DECISION, we want to surrender Control of our LIFES to JESUS as LORD, meaning MASTER, giving HIM complete control of OUR LIVES, out of AGAPE LOVE. One of the First Changes that HE wanted me to do was to quit smoking cigarettes. Of course I argued against that idea. I even told him, "Why should I quit as long as I enjoy it?" So a few days later, I woke up, and my morning routine was to sit on edge of the bead, grab my lighter and pack of cigarettes, and sit there smoking until my morning cigarette was finished. So I lit that morning Cigarette, took a deep puff, AND IT TASTED HORRIBLE! THEN I HEARD A VOICE IN MY HEAD: "WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE KNOW DUMMY." That was the last cigarette that I ever had. My favorite Aunt died of lung Cancer at 29 years of ago, SO I BELIEVE HE SAVED MY LIFE.
That happened to me PRIOR to being BORN AGAIN, about 1975. I count that believing it was PROOF that I was Predestined, YET, I did not recognized that possibility at that time.
I knew from the very first NIGHT of my third attempt at Suicide, THAT HE CHANGED SOMETHING IN MY HEART {human spirit}, and that LOVE FOR HIM has GROWN more, and more intense ever since. There has NEVER been a day that my life that I DID NOT AGAPE LOVE HIM since that NIGHT.
That MOTIVE OF AGAPE LOVE HAS TO BE THEIR OR ALL OF YOUR WORKS ARE WORTHLESS TO HIM. IT IS NOT THAT YOU DO DEEDS, IT IS WHY YOU DO DEEDS, that COUNTS.

One thing I have noticed they change their minds every other hour.
When someone claims allegiance to another "worker for salvation" and yet a few days past argued with the same person that salvation was secure there is a big time problem.
