Here we are everyone, at last!

After all those questions about matchmaking, it finally comes down to this (and to think, JustEli thought the zombie question was just at random :alien:.) Believe it or not, that question actually had a purpose. ;)

And now you can see the entire scope of what I had planned for a "3-Thread Series" -- 1. brainstorming/discussion 2. setup/introductions 3. application! If this is something people like, maybe we can have other multi-thread series about different topics again in the future (just not anytime soon, seeing as I'm a little worn out -- though anyone else is welcome to give it a try!) We'll see how it goes and if people enjoy it, we'll tuck this idea away for the future. :)

The entire goal for the 2nd thread was for us to get to know enough about each other so that we can hopefully have fun matching ourselves up together in humorous situations!

Ready to have some fun? Ok, here we go. :) The idea for this thread is to create a situation, then tell us who you think would be a good match to help you in that situation and why. This might require going back and reading about some of the awesome people in the last thread, though you can mention anyone you like -- it doesn't have to be just the people from the last thread, and it doesn't have to be anyone from CC.

If you'll bear with me, I'm going to write a second post of situations separately so that they will be easy to copy and paste.

Are you up for the challenge? Here we go! :)

Here are combinations for 4 different situations. If you don't like these basic templates, feel free to use your own ideas! The sky's the limit -- I just wrote these ideas for people who might be too shy to think of something on their own.

Have fun and use your imagination! And if you'll give me a few more minutes, I'll write my own answers as an example in another post. :)

1. "Natural Disaster" (Choose from: Zombie apocalypse; Hurricane; Earthquake; or fill in the blank.)

* Personal Goal (Choose from: Survival; Going in style; Avoidance) and Why?

* Best Pick(s) for Your Team and Why?

2. You're Going on Vacation and Leaving Your ( Choose from: Your Beloved Pet Iguana, whom you've raised from an egg; A Rare Exotic Plant that's taken 5 years to grow; Something Top Secret, that must never be opened; or, fill in the blank) Behind.

* Who would you trust to watch it for you, and why?

3. You're Going On (Choose: A lovely summer picnic; A movie you've wanted to see forever; A Worlds of WhompCraft gaming championship; or fill in the blank):

* Who would you choose to go with you, and why?

4. Dang Nab It, You're Having Problems (Choose: Opening a pickle jar; Tying a necktie; Finding your dentures; or fill in the blank):

* Who Ya Gonna Call, and Why?

OK lets define these zombies. Are we talking slow and shuffling undead or teenagers before noon? Also in the 80s there were a bunch of movies with zombies that were faster and tougher than the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team. Were they infected humans that went zombie or raised from the dead? I'm figuring if they were raised then we can pray them back down. If they were infected we are going to need a lot of hand sanitizer. I vote for the shufflers. With shufflers you aim for the brain. With teenagers you aim for the Nintendo Switch.
As for a team I would say all of you and really hoping that some of you are slower than me (no offense). If I have to narrow it down, definitely @Susanna and @Solemateleft and @Lynx . Sole said he is a sr Operations Research Analyst for USMC so I know that he can create strategies to deal with different contingencies, defensive and organizational. His analytical skills and Marine training would trump my, "Would you like to talk about it?" technique. Susanna is our kick butt, Linda Hamilton, Terminator fighting gal. She and Sole can figure out how to save us all. I'd be more like, "Hey, look over there!" and run away. I hear that you can use that one indefinitely with zombies. They are slow learners. Lynx has the flamethrower and seems anxious to use it. I'd also want @seoulsearch because she asks the kind of questions that you have to think about. She'd be getting to know them and have them sitting cross legged, examining their motivations. Zero would be good to have as he understand cars and could get us some transportation. (Can you hotwire a car/plane/boat @zeroturbulence?). He could also sketch us to memorial our victory. Anyone else want to join in? I've got a freezer full of food and I make a mean chicken a la king stuffed crepe. :) Did I mention cookies? Yes @Lynx the chipits are semi-sweet not milk chocolate.

Quick disclaimer: I'm sorry for all the typos and lack of consistency with capitalization. My mental battery is running pretty low right now, but I wanted to get this thread out while the idea was still there.

Please DO NOT feel you have to use all 4 examples -- Pick just one or as many as you like, or make one (or a few) up that sound more like "you." :) These threads are meant to be very easy-going -- it's all about getting to know others, and helping us get to know you!

1. "Natural Disaster" (Choose from: Zombie apocalypse; Hurricane; Earthquake; or fill in the blank.) Zombie Apocalypse, all the way!!!

* Personal Goal (Choose from: Survival; Going in style; Avoidance) and Why? Survival, baby, survival -- because I'm way too stubborn not to try!

* Best Pick(s) for Your Team and Why? Susanna -- I'm pretty sure she could fend of a herd of zombies just with her attitude alone (which is awesome); Eli -- because obviously, a weapons specialist is needed in zombie apocalypse; my friend Popclick -- because
we survived prepping for the holiday season in retail, and it doesn't get any more chaotic than that; Subhumanoidal -- because he had a dream about being a "sweet killing zombie machine", so it sounds like he has virtual experience!

Why, my beloved reptilian pal, George, of course!

* Who would you trust to watch it for you, and why? Love Comes Softly, Danja, Laughingheart, Solemateleft, or Blain -- because they all see to like furbabies -- so wouldn't they love my scale baby just as much? (I'm sorry if I missed any other pet owners -- this your chance to stand up in the forum and say, "Hey, what about ME?"

3. You're Going On (Choose: A lovely summer picnic; A movie you've wanted to see forever; A Worlds of WhompCraft gaming championship; or fill in the blank): Hmm. Let's see. I think I'm in a mood to go a Whomping. The only problem is, I'm terrible at gaming, so I'd have to pick teammates who can do the work for me. Hmm. I wonder whom they could be...

* Who would you choose to go with you, and why? Why, Woodsrun, ArtsieSteph, and Kojikun, of course! After all, he's our very own resident gaming enthusiast -- I'm already polishing up a spot in my trophy case. (Sorry if I missed any gamers -- I went mostly by what people wrote and not the poll.)

If you see something you're good at/interested but don't see your name listed, be sure to write a post and say, "Here I am! I like such-and-such, and I could help by..." :)

4. Dang Nab It, You're Having Problems (Choose: Opening a pickle jar; Tying a necktie; Finding your dentures; or fill in the blank): Those blasted dentures are always getting away from me.

* Who Ya Gonna Call, and Why? The Artist, because if he has the patience to put together hundreds of little rings, I'm sure he'd have the patience to look for a pair of teeth; Ruby, because she's into healing and I would need something (double strength) to help me calm my nerves!!!

Disclaimer: The above statement is only a joke. I do not wear dentures. Yet.

P.S. You are also more than welcome to play this game more than once with other choices and teammate picks. And, if the thought of answering several scenarios at once seems daunting (after doing this myself, I can see how much work it actually is!!! Whew!!!), feel free to only fill out one scenario at a time.

As always, feel free to joke, ask questions, converse, banter back and forth -- just have fun! :)

This is an excellent point... Come to think of it, @G00WZ had an excellent idea because he suggested hiding out on a ship, since zombies don't seem to fare well in water.

And then @laughingheart, you pointed out that zombies (and aliens) apparently have no idea where or what Canada is (talk about hitting two species with one stone,) so I vote that we all hide out on a luxury cruise ship somewhere in Ye Ol' Canada.

Guess I need to brush up on my language skills, because I'm currently not very fluent in Moose. :(

Lol...

I'm sorry peeps.

I've been working on a laptop all afternoon, and I just realized how cumbersome this thread idea might be for people typing on phones. Please, just do what you want to do, and whatever is easiest!

If you just want to pick one idea and answer in a few words or sentences, feel free. I'm sorry I didn't find a way to condense this more for people who access the site through their phones.

I'm already learning lessons for next time! :)

All I know from zombie movies/books/video games is, do NOT go to Arizona. For some reason that's where all the bad things happen, in Arizona or Nevada or some other mostly arid place. I don't know why it is so popular for zombie stories, but Arizona gets a lot of undead traffic.

I read the Zombie survival guide many years ago. Ironically a graveyard is fairly safe place to stay. A hospital on the other hand 😬not so much.

Actually I should ask what kind of Zombies are this? The viral Resident Evil/Walking Dead kind or the Return of the Living Dead chemical kind?

I'm afraid I've been caught.

I actually know very little about zombies, just that they seemed to be the craze for a while. I've never watched The Walking Dead, World War Z (?), or the zillion other shows/movies that have come up the past several years.

The closest thing I ever got to "learning" about zombies was through the Resident Evil movies, and I only watched those because I liked Milla Jovovich in Ultraviolet (Terminator 2 is one of my fave movies of all time and I'm always hoping for another Sarah Connor.)

And so, dear posters, it's up to you!!!

What kind of zombies would be the most challenging, and who would make the best minions for your army?

Viral kind are easy. There slow dumb cant talk and a shot to the head ends it. The chemical kind on the other hand are smart can talk and strategize and a shot to the head does nothing. There cells are individually animated. Even if theres a small piece of them left it will still come after you. Burning them makes the chemical airborne which effects the living and dead turning all into zombies. They also only hunger for brains not anything else. Simply put you can kiss humanity goodbye if it's the chemical kind. I say we face your average everyday viral kind simply because its possible many will survive.

Awesome!

Now that you have the type of zombies figured out, which people from the last thread do you think would be the best qualified to be on your team? :)

I understand that knowing your enemy is important -- but knowing your allies is crucial. :)

I have to smile at your answers, Koji -- keep going!

It's interesting to see how we all think.

I mean, if someone yelled, "ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE ON THE HORIZON!!!", my brain isn't pausing to think, "Ok, what kind of zombies, and what strategic locations are best?" (except for Canada and the suggestion of a ship in the middle of water.)

Me, I'm immediately think, "Ok, who on that list has the gulls, gall, and gumption to make it through???!!!

But for others, they need to know all the details and develop a careful strategy first (I guess that's why I think of teammates first -- I'm obviously not the strategic one! :cautious:)

Out of all the questions I expected to be asked in this thread, "But... The zombies. Tell us about the zombies. WHAT KIND OF ZOMBIES?" is one I didn't see coming!

Well like I said the Virus kind has a very good survival rate and has the possibility of ending fairly quickly. There is another kind the Evil Dead kind but that has magic and Necromancy and has to many variables. Although it would be a good vs Evil scenario.

Max Brooks, Mel Brooks son, wrote it as a humour book but people went crazy for it. Prepper groups started booking he to speak at conferences. They took his books as a serious guide.!

Oh, another question. Does our teammates have to be real people? Or can it be fictional people?

Oh, another question. Does our teammates have to be real people? Or can it be fictional people?

Good question!

The purpose of this thread is that it's meant to be a team-building exercise -- as in, we're putting the information people gave us about themselves to good use by including them in various scenarios, so yes, the people have to be real.

Alas, the point of this thread isn't actually about zombies, or disasters, or any of the actual "situations" that are listed here -- the whole point of this thread is that it's basically a "pop quiz" about everything we learned in the last thread.

You can use people who aren't listed in the last thread or even on CC, but yes, I do request that they be actual people.

I just don't want all that people were willing to share about themselves to go by in the blink of an eye. The main theme of this 3rd thread is to get you asking yourself, "Who Did I Meet? What do I Now Know/Remember About the People I Met from the Last Thread? How Can I Put What I Learned About Them into Action?"

The focus of the thread is all about taking the information we learned about everyone and lightheartedly guess how they'd react in certain situations, based on they shared, in an effort to get to know each other better. :)

For everyone out there, just take a deep breath, and let's all say it together: "It's All About the People, NOT the Zombies!" Or aliens. :alien:
