In the Scriptures I read that faith is a gift, not something we drum up on our own otherwise we see certain people boasting about 'THEIR' faith...
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Eph 2:8)
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17)
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. (Rom 3:27)
And as a reminder...
1 Corinthians 13:2 (KJV) And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
2 cor 10
Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your
faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,
1 thes 3 10
Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your
faith?
2 thes 1:3
We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your
faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
2 Tim 1 19
Holding
faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning
faith have made shipwreck:
There is more.
What I am showing you is that after faith is imparted it is a starting place.
Then I either grow in faith and am seeing God move proportionately or am stagnant standing still.
Or am growing fearful and LOSING faith.
