I can see that you are having a very difficult time making the transition from the old covenant into the new covenant and you remain under the law. Israel had the same problem. Romans 10:1 - Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who BELIEVES.

1 Corinthians 1:21 - For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who BELIEVE.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and love your neighbour... Let's remember that Jesus promised to come again and he keeps his promises. You somehow seem to have this mental block that tells you COMMANDMENTS = TEN COMMANDMENTS and nothing else.

Well, you don't really, but that's what SDAs claim until their inconsistencies are pointed out.

By the way, did you know that Paul used commandments from the Book of the Covenant to prove that ministers of the gospel need to be paid? See 1 Cor 9....so this proves that your theology is all messed up.

And, realize that this guy is preaching annihilationism as well. I used to believe that, too....but it is obvious to me that it isn't credible..if someone really understands that physical destruction by fire is a weak type of the coming eternal punishment, the annihilationist view becomes very dubious.

And, realize that beyond that, he believes Satan will be brought to ashes..does that mean Satan has a physical body that can be reduced to ashes? That's pretty weird stuff there..but it is what SDAs apparently believe. At least the cult I belonged to thought Satan would suffer forever, even if they believed humans would be annihilated. This is getting stranger and stranger.

But, that's what you get when your theology is developed by a woman who can't handle a full strength God...he has to be feminized to meet the woman's expectations. That's what happened with the cult I belonged to, as well. The god of the cult was formed from the mind of the founder's wife, who really seemed to wear the pants in the family (and in the church) just like 'Sister White'.

JESUS Didn't even let Moses Write HIS Ten Commandments, JESUS wrote THEM with HIS own FINGER, I believe that if we keep GODs commandments And LOVE HIM we will MAKE IT in to HEAVEN, IF we don't keep HIS Commandments And obey, We will Be LOST, I believe the BIBLE, And I don't care HOW dumb YOU think I am, I am HERE to tell People What says the WORD OF GOD, And hear if it lines up with the BIBLE as a whole, And any BODY That tells people what the WORD of GOD really Says IS NEVER LIKED, by many people, They didn't Like JESUS AND killed HIM, All the prophets was NOT liked. I also find it interesting that Sabbathkeepers are like troglodytes who throw boulders down at people below, then run back in their caves and complain to their troglodyte friends how they are being persecuted.

That's how the cultists I belonged to lived...they constantly called Christians "Roman Catholics" and claimed they didn't care about obeying God, and then got all upset when the Christians addressed them firmly. It's pretty funny actually. The sabbath that the Christian keeps, once he believes in the gospel, is a spiritual one resulting in ceasing from our sinful works of the flesh. It is not observed on one day alone, but every moment of the believer's life. Consider the following:

If we look at Hebrews chapters three (3) and four (4) there is a rest mentioned there alluding to a sabbath of rest from our own works. In Hebrews 3:11 it states that God swore that they who provoked him in the wilderness in the day of temptation shall not enter into his rest because they always erred in their heart. And then a warning to the brethren regarding having an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God (Hebrews 3:12). Then we are told to exhort one another daily lest any of us would be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin (our own works, works of the flesh - Hebrews 3:13). And it is explicitly mentioned again in Hebrews 3:19 that they could not enter into God's rest because of unbelief.

And a sober warning in Hebrews 4:1 "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest [salvation], any of you should seem to come short of it". We believers enter into this rest [of salvation and remission of sins] as mentioned in Hebrews 4:3.

Ceasing from our own works will produce suffering in the flesh.

This makes us able to cease from sin as mentioned in 1 Peter 4:1 "...he that hath suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin; that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men [our works], but to the will of God.

Notice in Leviticus 16:29-34 how it connects affliction of the soul with a sabbath of rest when the priest made an atonement to cleanse the people before the LORD.

Jesus Christ is now the one who cleanses and makes an atonement for our sins and we keep this Sabbath by ceasing from our own works [of sin] every moment.

Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

What do you think it takes to:

Love your enemies?
if someone takes your belongings, let them take even more?
Bless them that curse you?
If someone smites you on one cheek offer the other?

It takes bringing your body into subjection and going through suffering for the sake of Christ who died for you.

"If ye do well, and suffer for it...this is acceptable to God" (1 Peter 2:20).

"For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow in his steps: who did no sin" (1 Peter 2:21-22).
 
"For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works" Hebrews 4:4.

IMO, SDA's missed the boat on this keeping a Sabbath day . I've worked weekends all my life and had as much church at work as at achurch .. I think except for that Christ michael thing and over devotion to ellen white they preach some pretty good stuff ..

They teach Jesus didn't enter into the presence of God until 1844, and that Satan is the sin bearer of mankind.

And, as I've said, they think non-life threatening abortion is permissible, and their health care facilities perform elective abortions. Some have apparently hinted non-Adventist doctors perform these abortions, but I doubt that is true, and even if it is, their organizations are providing the place for them to be performed.

Actually, the Jesus - Michael teaching originated at a point of time when they were Arian in their theology. Some still deny the biblical Trinity.

And, they believe they are the true church. They may acknowledge other Christians in other organizations, but they believe they are the true church.

There is a difference between CAN'T and WON'T.

For some reason, God wants to keep him around to torment him, and unrepentant mankind.

This is CLEAR from Revelation.

And, my point is that angelic beings are spirit, and spirit doesn't produce ashes. Spirit is not material.

But, I seem unable to penetrate his reasoning process. Somehow he thinks spirit is combustible, like matter. How can I reason with someone like him?

By the way, the SDAs confuse the types with the reality. Physical destruction by fire is only a type of the spiritual ruin that the lost will suffer.

They suffer ETERNAL PUNISHMENT, according to Jesus. It is likened to Sodom and Gomorrah, and the fiery destruction they suffered. But those are only weak TYPES, and not the reality.

In Revelation 21-22, which is about the New Heaven and the New Earth, we see them OUTSIDE THE CITY. They still exist, but they are OUTSIDE THE CITY. This denies the SDA claim that they won't exist anymore, because they are OUTSIDE THE CITY. They are not allowed to participate in God's new world.

The SDA cannot reconcile his annihilationist position. The mistake they are making is to take the TYPES of the OT, including Sodom and Gomorrah, and to claim they are the reality. Physical destruction is only a TYPE of the punishment of the wicked, which is eternal conscious torment.

By the way, I used to be an annihilationist, so I know where this guy is coming from. Cultists like the SDAs think that they have "the Truth" and no one else does. Ask them about this phrase if you don't believe me. Ask them if they call their understanding of the Bible "the Truth", and you will find out that this is what they call it.

In the cult I came from, it was common to talk about how glad you were that God showed you "the Truth"....and you were not talking about Christianity in general, you were talking about the kooky teachings of the Church, which you associated with the true faith. Christianity and the kooky teachings were exactly the same thing in your mind.

Right, but I wouldn't say it was Rome that banned Sabbath observance....it was the true church. It occurred about AD 367, and Rome was only one bishopric of the true church. You are right that it appears to us to be a mistake.

However, I suspect the reason that it occurred related to Judaizers who were trying to force everyone else to observe Judaizer teaching. It was not because a peaceful portion of the church continued to observe the Sabbath. I suspect they were causing massive trouble in the Church at that time.

Additionally, there is no evidence that they persecuted Sabbathkeepers. They anathematized them, marking them as troublemakers, and removed them from recognized Christianity.

There were far bigger threats they were concerned about at that point, such as the Arians. Arianism didn't end at the Council of Nicea, but continued on past Nicea. At one point, it almost overwhelmed the Church.

The whole story about Nimrod worship is related to Alexander Hislop's book, Two Babylons. Cultic groups have used this book to make claims about Christianity being the worship of Nimrod, Semiramis and Tammuz. The book uses very poor scholarship and misquotes its sources in order to prove that Roman Catholicism is related to this. One claim they make is that Nimrod and Semiramis were lovers, which produced the child Tammuz, but the problem with that is that they didn't even live in the same century. Hislop didn't mean to bash Protestants, but to bash Roman Catholics. Roman Catholicism is an apostate church, but not due to the things Hislop fabricated.

Regarding Sun worship, it is just as easy to claim Sabbathkeepers worship Saturn.

Right, but I wouldn't say it was Rome that banned Sabbath observance....it was the true church. It occurred about AD 365 at the Council of Laodicea, and Rome was only one bishopric of the true church. You are right that it appears to us to be a mistake.

The vast majority of Christians were not meeting on Sabbath at all by AD 135. This had nothing to do with the Pope. In fact, the SDA historian Samuele Bacchiocchi acknowledged this in his book on the Sabbath, despite Ellen G. White's visions that the Pope changed the Sabbath to Sunday. He continued to be an SDA but simply quietly stated that him and EGW disagreed on this point..he knew she was a lying prophetess and it seems like he would have left.

Additionally, there is no evidence that the church persecuted Sabbathkeepers. They anathematized them, marking them as troublemakers and heretics, and removed them from their fellowship.
