Jim, in post #95 Lon says he believes that "all human and animal species evolved".. I may be wrong, but to me that indicates that he doesn't believe in God. His spiritual status is "unsure" but when asked if he is saved, he dodges the question and simply says he's "quite happy" with his spiritual status even though he's unsure of what it even IS...
I appreciate his coming to this forum and asking some challenging questions. All one can do is direct towards the light, but ultimately it’s their decision to walk that path. The posters age indicates time is really of the essence. I pray he sees the Lord.

I know this, but I need him to say it so I can point out that in his completely random worldview, where he believes that in reality we are meaningless pond scum evolved to a higher order, that his cries of injustice fall flat. Who says that it's not his blatant "Christophobia" that is the cause of all evil in the world. Why does he get to make the rules? Why is it not him that's hateful? You know what I mean? I need him to say these things to realize that when you remove God all that's left is opinion. Who's opinion is right? This was all I was moving towards. Thank you though, it's awesome to "see" you as always.
It’s a hard thing to tell people the truth only have it tossed aside. We ourselves become frustrated, but the reality is only the Father can bring one to Jesus(Matthew 6:44). I’m sure God has given him many opportunities to do so. At some point due to their unwillingness to seek His salvation, He will let them go. If God does that so should we.

I can tolerate homosexuality as long as it does not affect me personaly. I am against homosexuality primarily because it is against nature, not because of religious reasons
I do not believe homosexuality is OK because it's against nature.

When you say nature, what precept are you taking? Is there a natural law and if so how did that come to be?

That’s not really my question. What makes you believe nature has a law to abide by?
I don't believe nature has any laws to abide by. Plants live & die, the sun rises & sets with out question.

So how can homosexual behavior go against nature? In order for that to be true nature would have to have a standard. Yes?

Two men having sex is not natural. Neither is two women together.. God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.. And not Eve and Ellen..

Thanks for sharing your opinion. At least your honest.
I use the red X a lot. It means "disagree" if you press on it. It does not mean hate, or even dislike. I rarely use the dislike, thumbs down, because I will disagree with facts and opinions if they are wrong, but that doesn't mean I dislike the person.

It's too bad people don't read what those emoticons mean. And the heart one, I admit, is wrongly labeled. It's a good way of saying, I really like, it, or it is important. Instead, it is labeled as friendly. Very strange definition.

PS. I often get behind on threads, and so rather than answer every post, I just put the red X up. Esp. If it is something seriously heretical. I wouldn't want a newbie, or someone reading on the outside to think some glaringly wrong heresy wasn't opposed by anyone. There is so much bad theology in the BDF, sometimes I feel like the red X is the most important symbol in the whole pack. Again, disagreeing with the heresy, not disliking the person.

Nature most certainly does have laws. Never heard of the law of universal gravitation? A quick search revealed this:

The Laws of Nature: Gravitation, Matter, & Light. All interactions in the Universe are governed by four fundamental forces. On the large scale, the forces of Gravitation and Electromagetism rule, while the strong and weak forces dominate the microscopic realm of the atomic nucleus.

What happens if you deprive your body of air, water, nutrition? Inevitably, you will die. Is that a law? It cannot be escaped as a truth.

I do understand what you mean, I truly do, but I'm not called to make that judgement, I mean if they don't want to talk they wont talk, but this guy is here for a reason, and his view on how Christians view homosexuality is wrong, I ask these questions and will answer any he has, he is here for a reason and I will engage in respectful dialog as long as he's willing. I do agree with you though, and get what you're saying.

Disagreement is fine. I kind of view these forum conversations as the same as a personal conversation. So it's kind of odd to me that someone might walk up on a conversation look at someone and say I disagree and then move on without any explanation. It's possible that I might view it wrong. At least the fellow that I were responding to had the courtesy to State his disagreement. He said I was out of line, which is quite possible, I do tend to be out of line. While my response to him may have been somewhat snarky, it wasn't disingenuous.

I personally try not to drop emoticons because of my personal view that these are actual conversations with actual people. But my standards are by no means a gauge for anyone other than me.

I believe he was brought here for a reason as well. What I have gotten from his responses is everything is relative to his point of view. Hence his truth is his truth and our truth is our truth. It’s seems like he is fishing different forums to see how different people react. Maybe it because he is bored or maybe he is doing it for fun. Either way I get the impression he has never been a fan of Christianity as it’s currently presented.

I agree :) Long before I became Christian, I had Christian friends who presented the gospel to me. They were not pushy, they were caring and sincere and fun to be around. I even went to Bible studies with them a couple or few times. One in particular whom I was friends with for quite a few years, gave me an NIV study Bible for my 42nd birthday (I converted at the age of 49 :D) She attended my baptism :)

Today's discussion "climate" is quite different, and technology allows people to communicate in ways we never could before. Now we have atheists and many forms of non-believers seeking out believers simply to argue with them, and as I said before, some of them have the unabashed purpose of destroying the faith of believers.

During the election of a few years ago, I saw a video where Hilary was talking about out-moded belief systems and how they need to be scuttled, eradicated completely from society. She may not have used those words, and she did not specifically finger Christianity, and yet it was hard to ignore that it was Christian beliefs that were being called into question and labeled as irrelevant, passé, and dangerous. Look at this: link.

Lord Pearson::
“My Lords, I thank the Minister for her reply. However, I fear that we are on our way to losing our freedom of speech in this area. I repeat a question I put a year ago, which the Government refused to answer: namely, whether a Christian who proclaims that Jesus is the only Son of the one true God can be arrested for hate speech if a Muslim feels insulted and complains to the police. By the same token, can a Muslim be arrested for preaching the supreme divinity of Allah if a Christian takes offence?
“Secondly, can the Government assure your Lordships that they will not follow a new judgment from the Strasbourg court, which upholds Austria’s criminalisation of a lady who said that Muhammad was a paedophile? Or are we to have a new blasphemy law that prohibits discussion of Islam?”

Lord Pearson’s question was not a difficult one to answer. Neither should it be difficult for the minister to confirm that someone proclaiming the uniqueness of Christianity should not be arrested for so doing no matter whether people are offended by such statements. She would only be repeating what Section 29J states in law. The minister avoided stating this though, which means that Lord Pearson is quite right to fear that we are losing freedom of speech in this area. source

Romans 13:5 comes to mind

you need to examine yourself, not your parents or anyone else. You need to prove it to yourself.

If Jesus Christ is in you, you will know.

Hmmmm...good question.
I think it increases the chances greatly of the children following if they are brought up by Christian parents but does not guarantee. I am so grateful to my parents for introducing me to my Lord and Savior. We are all given the choice to accept or reject.
