Where do you find your conversion experience in the bible? You claim the bible as authority for all things yet you have a conversion experience that appears outside of the bible?

For the cause of Christ
Roger
What do you mean?

I can't find a passage on the conversion of Roger in the Bible, either. I would venture to guess that all of us had conversion experiences outside of the Bible. None of us are that old. Even if the apostle John were still walking around, I'm not sure we have his conversation experience in the Bible.

When I was 14 I found a little pamphlet on the street with bible verses about salvation and I immediately accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. That conversion experience was not stated in the bible either. I believe that the salvation experience is unique and as such would not necessarily be related in the bible. I would say almost all conversions experiences and the events leading up to them do not specifically appear in the bible.
What do you mean by 'not related to the Bible'?

One member had a question for another member who had a dream that later influenced a life-changing decision leading to salvation just because the bible apparently does not state that a dream can play any part in the salvation process. See post #64.

See Job , ch 33, I think, about how God warns men through dreams.

How about what scripture says.

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
Hebrews 1:1‭-‬2 NASB

God has now spoken through theSon, greater than speaking through OT prophets.

This passage does not say God stopped speaking through prophets. Christ said He sent prophets. He ascended and gave prophets to men. Acts, I Corinthians and Ephesians mention prophets. In Acts, Agabus, Judas, and Silas are identified as prophets.

Do you believe that each of us should wear a denominational label?
No.
I just know many will, and what the advantages are that just happen to come along with doing that.

Do you believe that each denomination could be given it's own forum here on CC?
No.
That would pretty much end discussion, IMO.

Would that be a good thing or a bad thing:unsure:
I don't know, but probably a bad thing.

Though I am catholic there is a movement within the church that is charismatic.
I was a teen in the 70s when I was baptized for the first time ( confirmed at the same time) I was completely immersed in the church. Though I had no overwhelming experience, no down pouring of the Holy Spirt in my life.
Then at the age of 17 I did start to have dreams ( about the return of Jesus) and then at 23 I had two visions ( both about the return of Jesus) I don't speak in tongues but I do pray in tongues. I can not do it on demand nor have I ever done it publicly. ( It happens only when I am alone and in prayer. )
I absolutely believe in the power of God and His Holy Spirit. I believe in the gifts of the Sprit. I do not believe it is a free ticket from troubles and woes, from illness or even poverty. Having the Comforter is just that I find comfort from God through His Spirit in those times of affliction and I give praise to God. I praise Him and thank Him for all things
in both good times and bad.
And most important I trust Him!!!
Is charismatic catholic pray to Mary?

If Pentecostalism was true, the Church would have had the gifts all along. Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail against it. If only one person had the gifts today, it would be headline world wide news. And millions of sufferers from around the world would be thronging him or her.

Do a search on Wm. Seymour and Azusa Street. That's where American Pentecostalism came into being.

If we follow the doctrines of men rather than the word then we CHOOSE to be blinded to all God is or ever will be!

Strange tongues = exile or occupation by foreign troops in Isaiah 28:11.

There have been gifts all along. Some gifts are rater than others.

If you were interested you could go to web pages that list examples from the men some call church fathers of references to spiritual gifts in their day. I gave read plenty of accounts od medieval miracles as well-- St. Martin Tours, St. Patrick, St. Columba for example. Since Jesus called casting out demons in his name a miracle I should include St. Gregory 'apostle of Armenia' to the lost

Historians accept two documents as being written by St. Patrick. He was kidnapped by the Irish as a slave. One document tells of his seeing a vision that helped him escape Ireland. The other tells of his hearing a supernatural voice telling him to return.

Augustine recorded numerous healings of his day, also.

Paul lists teaching, giving, and serving among the gifts. Look up charismata (gift) and grace and how grace is used in gift passages. The gift of teaching is God's grace working through the individual to teach others. The alternative would be teaching from ones own human wisdom and strength. Is that your experience as you type your posts.

Sometimes people throng a teacher with grace to teach. Sometimes not. There are all throngs at healing crusades.

There are many news people who still hold to a modernist philosophy. If you tell them you saw an obvious healing in front of their own eyes they would not want to investigate. Would you or would you dismiss it our of hand?

Where's the documentation?
