The first rule to remember is that we live in a fallen world. Take great care before you decide to meet any man or woman for the first time.
Verify the person's photos BEFORE you decide to start talking to them! DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING!
Use TinEye and Bing search. Better to be safe than sorry!
Pray, pray, pray for God's best for you!
Your profile isn't just about you or your personality, it's also about what you expect from the person you want to meet as well as what your personal boundaries are and what attracts you to the man/woman that you are hoping to find. BE PICKY!
Beware of people using photos that don't match their age!
ALWAYS meet in a public place for your first meeting and (for you women) make sure you have a lifeline in place to help you bail if you feel uncomfortable at all during your meeting.
Men and women should tell their friends where they are going and what time they expect to return.
After you feel comfortable with the person you've met is the time to relax.
Be willing to pray for each other when you start talking, while you're apart, and when you meet and when you end your evening. Keep your relationship lifted before God and under His covering!
Remember that breakups may hurt but always learn from your mistakes! Remember that it's the Lord you serve and that He is your fortress and your shield (Psalm 27).
Men, don't be afraid to use your imagination when it comes to romancing her and winning her heart! Candles, soft music, and good food are a great setting, but also remember the little things like complimenting something about her looks, how she's dressed, how she wears her hair, the color of her fingernails, etc. (Also, do the unexpected: take charge and clean up after the meal; if she's had a rough day, offer to wash her feet. Don't shy away from her wanting to return the favor!)
Also, communication about everything is key to a good, solid relationship. Be honest! Be transparent! Let each other know how you feel about each other!
When you include the Lord in all your activities be prepared to be blessed!
Seek the Lord and seek to honor Him in all you do!
Remember, the joy of the Lord is your strength!

Now if we can actually find God fearing blessed women, who aren't narcissist or aspirational, then we could all start finding a life long partner. Until then I am staying single and free. They just aren't out there anymore

All I've heard on this site for 9 years...
Men: There are no Godly women
Women: There are no Godly men
I find it rather amazing that both genders make the exact same complaint about the other. Makes me wonder who the real narcissists are. All these "ungodly" men and women, or the ones that think 1000's of other are not good enough and they are the lone spiritually genuine person.

Which is why I usually fall back to the supposition that if God could make me in all my weird uniqueness, he could do that for some guy as well and said guy just might be out there somewhere and I might meet him someday. Only has to be one, so those are pretty good odds.

You must be looking in the wrong places. Seek the Lord and He will bring them to you or you to them!

do people take their online dates to online dances and online restaurants? I dont know how that works.
If they want to order pizza for me and watch me eat it through skype or facetime or something that migh be fun but otherwise, I think I will pass.

What really puts me off is when men or women say “I want a God fearing man/woman....“

When i used to hang around in yahoo chat years ago i remember this one female said she had an E-baby with a guy she was dating online. She then made one of her younger online friends that baby, and the guy had to babysit, things got really weird.

I thought there was no fear in love....

Of course what do I know maybe you want someone who is afraid of God.

So... who's dating online?

We sure aren't. That's why we're frittering our time away in an online forum. ;)

What I have experienced so far is that what they are actually looking for is someone who practices Christian values but has no spiritual depth. "2 Timothy 3:5 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people."
So they end up not wanting anything to do with me because I am who I say I am. I am uncompromising when it comes to my relationship to the Lord and you should be as well!

I am one of those weird people who seem to get rejected, I sew, I knit, I am an introvert, I don't like socialising, I am certainly not materialist, I enjoy my solitude and freedom, sometimes I just sit by the local river and daydream. Oh and I collect hot wheels and matchbox toy cars as a hobby. As soon as I tell women that , they run a mile. And never married, no kids

I have the same values, Jesus/God first, no compromise, then the other things follow from that

God fearing as in knowing once your in that relationship, there is no compromise, otherwise there is consequences. So no going to church on Sunday then off to Las Vegas gambling, drinking etc then returning expecting all will be ok. It wont

One in what...3,000,000,000? Doesn't seem like "too" tall of a request. I expected this to be another hum drum thread but that produced a smile. Just need 1. I like it.

I'm a bit confused here. Plenty of places in scripture that speak of fearing the Lord. Or even work out your faith/salvation with fear and trembling. Fearfully and wonderfully made?

Sure that word can mean reverence, but then we must define reverence.

Reverence vs fearful respect.

Like when someone says "I'm not afraid of that Lion!" and proceeds to try and pet it and they "die". To be "afraid" is different than "fear". The issue is english and translation.

I'm not trying to nitpick here or anything, but it's just that the element of reverential fear when defined I don't think you would disagree with.

"healthy fear" is uncommonly said vs "healthy respect" Or even "I'm fearful of lions" who says that anymore? Or even "I am much afeared."

"Look dad, I'm going to attract these fish with my water gun"..."sorry son, that won't work I'm afraid".

"I fear our efforts will be of little use"

It's not to be confused with timidity and cowardice but being meek can be misapplied to these characteristics.
Long topic and I'm excessively tired. I had fun thinking about it.

It can also apply to licentiousness in an important way.

It is certainly possible to lose sight of the fear/reverence/awe/respect element when encompassed in different elements but it is indeed the beginning of wisdom.

Sorry for mini-derail "God fearing" is old school for sure though. It would stand out for me personally but it should certainly be explored what they mean by it. They could just lead an insular life and read the KJV a lot. Pious self-righteousness would be a potential mentality to be on guard about.

Unexpected thoughts once again, thanks for the revisitation :)

Because God fearing doesnt mean you love God it just means you are afraid of him...very OT. if you know God as your Heavenly Father, you have a loving relationship with Him.

I thought all Christian knew this...maybe those who arent born again need to actually get to know Him better througn His son.

Me? I'm talking about what I've heard others say, so why are you saying I'm looking in the wrong places? I'm arguing Against the claim. You may need to reread my post.
