As has been said already, not all the founders were Deists.
And if any government of any nation followed this rule: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also, they would cease to be a free nation. Because their enemies that would take advantage of the passivity and failure to respond to aggression against a people, would believe the government of the people did not care for them, or the potential to be conquered by an enemy.
I'd suggest you research the founding of America after you maybe realize I did not say America is a Christian nation.

well Kayla, and I am not taking sides here but just in reference to your post above, some people could really stand to hear some preaching on eating too much and yes food can become an addiction, or too much alcohol but absolutely preaching against gossip and putting a stop to it would go a long long way to creating a far more Christian atmosphere in church than what most seem to have now
and again, just responding to your post and not taking sides with anyone
gossip, IMO, is one of the main sins of Christians and I think one of the reasons Christians do not get their prayers answered

3. Then James I decided to establish British colonies along the eastern coast of America.
4. Then there was the French and British seven year war (1756-1763), which led to dissatisfaction with the British monarchy among the colonists.
5. This led to the Boston Tea Party (1773) followed by the First Continental Congress (1774).
6. Then there was war between the colonists and the British, which finally led to the American War of Independence (1775-1783) which led to the Declaration of Independence (1776).
7. The Constitution of the United States was signed on September 17, 1787. In its preamble it said: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
No Christian can object to these principles. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" began to be used on US currency as early as 1865.

The church I grew up in had a couple that had a terrible habit of gossiping. No pastor wanted to deal with it because they were a couple that basically ran the church. She was an excellent cook and organizer and they were that "go to" couple. But they had lethal tongues and caused more hurt and drama in the church. They would invite people to church, get them attending church then turn on them and gossip. I don't know how much damage they did with their tongues. So sad because otherwise they would have been an asset to the church.
Unfortunately I too have seen and experienced “Busy Bodies” in the pews. Clicks can form and there can be that us against them mentality. This should not be occurring but it does. I for one am in favor of rebuking when these actions are apparent. With love of course which not always easy to do. Praise be to God for the Holy Spirit to guild our emotions.
