It is not that difficult to grasp the truth of all three when ONE is honest with the fact he never died.....

Prayer answered when drowning---swallowed by a PREPARED great fish
Prayer answered while in the belly of the fish and DELIVERED and puked UP (*)
AND the PRAYER while he is IN the BELLY (*) is HIS perception of what BEING in the belly was LIKE

There is NOT one verse that INDICATES he died, zero, NADDA, NONE......it is all a presumption, surmised and supposition by those trying to prove a POINT that is not validated by scripture.

GOD is PRECISE with his wording and the words he USES and INSPIRES IF he had DIED would plainly state....JUST as JONAH was three days and three nights in the HEART of the EARTH SO SHALL the SON of MAN be THREE days and THREE nights IN the HEART of the EARTH

These JOKERS peddling this are equating JONAH to JESUS and this false VIEW has JONAH doing what JESUS DID and NO where in scripture do we SEE ANY MAN DOING what JESUS has done which is the FORERUNNER of our FAITH.

JONAH is a TYPE, a PICTURE of WHAT JESUS WOULD ultimately DO.......

DO you want to DEVALUE JESUS' experience and BRING him down to the level of JONAH.....SORRY.....not buying it.....

The verbiage is not the same, it does not say JONAH died or gave up the ghost, it does not say Jonah resurrected or stood again NOTHING matches the descriptions of what JESUS went through.....the belly of the fish was SYMBOLIC only of the heart of the earth and what JESUS would DO and JONAH'S perception is SEEN in his words.....Nothing MORE, NOTHING LESS.....!
Truth ... unlike the OP which seems more akin to speculation, theorizing, reading into the text and extrapolating in the wrong direction.

You only come to this by not taking the words literal. Jonah went down to the bottom of the mountains. What’s at the bottom? Hell. He was brought UP from corruption. Up from where? Hell. Hell literally has bars as Jonah described. Are these “bars” the teeth of the great fish?

Nope. 41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

Wrong....keep devaluing JESUS and putting Jonah first............and my post stands regardless of your continued rejection of the truth while embellishing it beyond the facts.......

YEP.......you say JONAH did what JESUS did and the verse you cite does not say Jonah DIED and then RESURRECTED

You say you take the story literally. What’s literally at the bottom of the mountains? What are the literal bars?

Jonah suffered corruption and was in affliction in hell. Jesus did not suffer corruption, He did not suffer affliction, but deposited our sins in hell and preached victory.

I read somewhere in one of your posts that you take all scripture literally .. the bible is like all writing it employs different figures of speech and it is important to know where a passage is literal and this is not one of them.

It is really not a good thing what you are asserting here.

So, no answers? Just insults?
I did answer, neither one of those statements have any basis in scripture.........NO MAN goes to hell, suffers and then comes back....and NO verse states that JESUS deposited our sins in hell.....so....hence my statement about both statements being ignorant.......

NOW....if you want to quote two sets of verses in context that state.......I might listen

a. A MAN goes to hell, suffers and then RETURNS

b. JESUS deposited our sins in hell

That’s not exactly what I said. We are to take it literally unless the words of the passage says otherwise. There’s nothing in Jonah to tell us that Jonah’s experience should not be taken literal.

Excuse my intrusion but there already was a lengthy post outlining why your eisegesis is wrong. Go back.. find it!
Opinions...we all have one. And I posted tons of scripture that states otherwise. This topic is nothing to get angry about, not you. Just a study showing different view points.

Emphasis is not anger.. ...... but if you see red print that could be indicative of extreme indignation ... especially when connected to Jesus and His work .. and I believe rightly so.

We need to be more intolerant and rebut doctrine that seeks to take away from the glory of Christ Jesus.

b. JESUS deposited our sins in hell
After dying with our sins upon Him, He then took those sins and deposited them in hell. He did not ascend to heaven with our sins still upon Him.

As the scapegoat carried all the sins of Israel into the wilderness, so the Lord took our sins away into the wilderness of hell.

The oceans and does not matter.....it is symbolic of being in the fish and his expected demise.......hence praying and begging for deliverance....

Listen....You will not change my mind....the evidence is NOT there to support what you guys are peddling....especially saying a man died, went to hell, suffered, prayed and then came BACK......HE was A HOLY man of GOD (per PETER's statement) HE got thrown over board, prays in the process of drowning, is delivered by being swallowed, suffers in the fish's belly, voices this in pray and compares it to numerous things symbolically, prays, is delivered and puked UP and does exactly what GOD told him to do.......there are NO verses that states he died and resurrected and absolutely NO verses that state a man can die, go to hell, suffer and COME BACK and NO verses in context that states verbatim that JESUS deposited our sins in HELL.......

Believe what you will migo.....the evidence POINTS me to a different conclusion.....end of story!
