There is only faithing towards God, " pisteuo ". Or faithing away from God, " Apisteuo ". Apisteuo or faithing away from God is anything other than a Continually surrendered life! Such as " believing" in God's word!

Got to put the "a" in front to reverse the action! Have a resemblance of a clue before you speak.

Pistis is the noun = where we get our noun " Faith ".

Pisteuo is the corresponding verb to the noun Pistis. But the English language doesn't have a corresponding verb to the noun Faith like the Greek does for the noun Pistis.

The English language should have had the words faithe, faither, and faithing for the translators to use, but they weren't! So the translators needed to choose a word that would come close to the original. They chose the words believe, believer, and believing.

Pisteuo or the application of the noun Pistis or Faith is an act, based upon a Belief, sustained by confidence. So " believing" is a part ofthe complete definition, but taken on it's own is error.

Just go by what the Bible itself defines 'faith' as being. That's what I do.

"1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. " Hebrews 11:1 KJV

Faith is the knowledge that something you can't see is true. That 'alone' never saved anybody, and never will. You have to trust in what faith shows you to be true in order to be saved. The confusion comes in because we call that 'having faith'.

I did not mock you, unless having a different opinion is mocking,

and before you judge you have to look inside, you mock us every time you say we believe or say things we do not.

God did not tell you anything. That’s just an excuse, if you can not handle us having a different opinion. That’s on you not us,

No, we define faith as true living faith, which saves, and changes people’s lives, and makes us new creatures, unable because of our new nature to fall back into our old selves, and since the one we entrust our faith in, will never let us down we would never even think of losing faith, because the one who is faithful In The cross, is also faithful in his promise.

Brother... You understand the simplicity that is in Christ.

Humility holds more weight than any long winded dispute over semantics regarding a language from a time we did not live in. The Holy spirit will teach all of His how He sees fit.

We know His voice and we follow Him. (He wouldn't let one of His sheep go too far if they were to wander)

I know that we use the word 'faith' when what we are really talking about is 'believing'.

That's why we have to go back to the Bible's definition of 'faith'. It's a noun.
Meanwhile, 'believing' is a verb. It's the action you may or may not perform in response to the thing called 'faith'.
But don't get confused when the Bible uses the word 'faith' when talking about 'believing'.

Your view of faith can be lost, thats not faith, that’s wish wishy washy, it comes and goes. And may stop altogether

we believe, no we are assured Christ forgives all our sins, it is our hope as scripture says, faith is the substance of things hoped for not see.

so how can you believe in a faith that can be lost?

Not to open a can of worms, but James calls that 'faith alone', and says that can not save a man. Even the demons know the truth about Jesus. And that didn't save them.

Surely, it's the trusting you do in response to the knowing of faith that secures the forgiveness of God in Christ.

The verbs believe, believer, and believing are corresponding verbs to the noun "Belief", not the noun" Faith".
