Hey BF - what is required of a person in order to have salvation, then? According to the Bible.
Well it says that no idolater is getting in so we need to deal with that if I think I am an issue...

The Lord has a diferent judgment than we do, and should be obvious. "ALL manner os sin shall be forgiven to man but rejecting the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven to man." Not obeying the New comandmant "To Love one another as I have have Loved you; that you also Love one another." "If anyone comes to me, I will not turn them away (no matter what)." I had an idol of women most of my life and could not have a healthy relationship. The Lord did not abandon me there and spoke to me with compassion during that time: come to My house, I'm coming to My house. Now. I have a healty relationship with a woman from the Philippines who is in the charismatic Catholic renewal. That also happens to be where I received the Holy Spirit over 40 years ago, when at the time I was in a foursquare Pentecostal church. But would go on Friday evening to the charismatic renewal because I wanted more and was not judgmental then. I did fall in the trap of dualistic thinking later.
Another word the Lord told me 36 years ago: Behold.I am with you in a time of trouble such as never was and shall never be again, for it is coming upon all people as amtestimony against them.
The time of trouble is because Faith works by Love and appart from the Holy Spirit faith is dead.
The renewal of the Holy Spirit is welcomed in the Catholic church and has been for years, more than such as Baptist church. And those who preach not by woks are the worst at judging one another. I am to wirdraw miself from trying to help here. I knew this for years, yet felt I should try to warn them. While the Lord had already told me: I don't need your help. You don't know that the Judgment will begin with the US do you. And it's likely where you live. People are lukewarm and don't care and think they are right. Yes there are saints there who will rise to God in the time of trouble. But what about the foolish who will not invest their whole heart in Christ and preach not by works and spend there time quarreling and judging one another. Can you see Why we are to withdraw from them that walk disorderly? I have been coming here for a few years on and off and the quarels are getting worse: those who think they are right are in the worst danger. "There is none Righteous." The revival is more welcomed in places like the Catholic church because they know their need. I have been called as an evangelist and wondered if the Lord was sending me to the Catholic church since He gave me a wife from there. He said: I am sending you to all churches. I have noticed that that those who have judgment against other churches and think they are right, can't hear me, especially those who preach not by works; istorting the Word and turnimg it upside down. A word that was ment to say: not by our work (in pride of achievment), witch we done but Grace alone; agreement with the work of God: to influence our hearts to be joined to the Holy Spirit; to do the work of God, to follow Jesus in His death and Resurrection, that we may go on to perfection, and not stay as we are in dead works. "Let us not judge one another, but judge this that no one ause another to stumble.
I have been thought like you for years that Catholics were idol worshipers, but I was the one who could not get past an idol of woman: bearing my own judgment. The church is divided because we think like men in the flesh. "There are divisions among you... are you not behaving like men in the flesh."
The Bible says test every spirit. It tells us that true worshippers will worship in Spirit and in Truth. God tells us to be holy and without it He says we won't see God.
Jesus said when He returns there will be those who say," Lord, Lord, we performed miracles and cast out demons in your Name".... and He will say to them, " Depart from me, I never knew you."
Spirits can speak to us, we are not immune to deception, that is why we are told to be vigilant and also to test every Spirit.
You are judging me and you have me all wrong but that is between you and God, He knows my heart. There will be divisions if some are not obeying the Word, and we are told that the Bible is useful for reproof and rebuke. If someone follows a doctrine that is against the Bible then as a Christian it is my duty if I care about that person, to tell them what the Bible says.

Do you think any Catholics will be in heaven?
I fail to see how a true Christian who really knows and loves God can remain in the Catholic Church long term. I have different friends who came out once they came to know HIm personally.
One thing I would say to all Catholics is, to read their Bible themselves and ask God to lead them into all truth; and ask Him to help them live the life He wants them to because we were bought with a price, the highest price of all, the Blood of Jesus, we are not our own.

And I don't believe in being saved by works either just to clarify. Christians live out their life by yielding to the indwelling Spirit of God, Christ I them, allowing Him to live His life through them; then all the glory is His as it ought to be.

My .02¢
A lot of people call themselves " christians" that ARE NOT!

If he wanted to bread the word daily with me,have heart prayer,be open, receptive, caring towards others and myself and I completely trusted him..........Catholic is just a label....IMO
It's actually a doctrine and a religion

They Just need explained that divisions on both sides were made by people desiring to be in charge of the work of God. "They parted My garments among them and cast lots for My Vesture." The Vesture was a seamless garment woven throughout, representing the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will not be divised. Neither should we, otherwise we are gambling our opportunity for wholeness, and He will not take sides.
Come out from among them my people and be ye separate.
Since the time of Constantine, Catholicism has been a mixture of Paganism and Christianity. God hates mixture, He desires holiness/ separateness from that which is evil such as Paganism. Sorry, but this is the truth.

The commandment is to raise up according to scripture. But it is not a promise they will be formed in Christ like with Paul and Timothy.

Paul suffered as in pains of birth until Christ gave Timothy a new heart and willing spirit. Timothy is typified as a chaste virgin bride looking ahead to our new incorruptible bodies.

We can plant the spiritual born again seed(Christ) and water it with the doctrines of God. But he alone can cause growth if any.

He must do the first works of His faithfulness.

We walk by faith the eternal not seen and not of them of the number who compare the things seen to the same things seen the temporal .
.
It says after this .. that the child when he is old will not depart from the way he should go.

I think with every passing century the Roman Patriarchate has slipped further into error...until you get to 2019 and the Pope is worshipping a Pachamama idol at the Vatican. What each individual Roman Catholic must do in response to such ever increasing error is a matter for their individual conscience. One thing is true, however...with a top down, heirarchical, non-conciliar establishment like the Vatican...reform can no more come from the grass roots than it could in Martin Luther’s day.

Yes, but when there are 2 different beliefs, there will be conflict. Parents do far more than just plant a seed.

Parents are charged to raise their children. From birth to their going out on their own. Years of instruction is far more than "A seed".

Two people decide to marry.

One believes predestination.
One believes free will.
One believes OSAS.
One doesn't.
One believes water baptism 4 salvation.
One doesn't.
One believes in Holy Trinity.
One doesn't.
One believes indwelling presence of Holy Spirit.
One believes Bible is promised comforter/teacher.
One believes women can't be Pastors.
One believes women can be Pastors.
[and on and on]

They knew their different beliefs and still chose to marry, so it's on them to work it out.

But their children will be forced to choose between, live between the differing beliefs, and that could cause great spiritual harm to the children!

That is why it is important that husband and wife be of one mind concerning what they teach children.

.... if I got in the looking mood:)
This "if" speaks volumes. Why are you still sitting on the fence?

People should avoid religious conflict as much as possible within a marriage. And believers and forbidden to marry unbelievers.

Humor is ok. However I believe that God charged us with raising our children in His ways.

Not gonna laugh about that.

I don't know too much about Catholicism vs Protestantism but I find Catholics to be Christians. They believe in the main doctrines (Trinity, meaning of Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, etc.). They don't pray to the saints, but they ask for the saints to pray for them (if I understand correctly). To me, this seems to be similar if I ask someone else like a friend to pray me (I'm not praying directly to God in this sense, but asking someone else to pray for me). The biggest distinctions are that Protestants believe in faith alone, and scripture alone, whereas Catholics believe in both faith and works, and scripture plus tradition.

Protestantism is only about 500-600 years old, and is fairly new. Personally, I've questioned the credibility of Martin Luther (founder of Protestantism) after I learned that he wanted to remove a few additional books from the New Testament such as Hebrews, James, and Revelation. He had concerns over these books because they supported faith plus works-based salvation. So, sometimes I think we should just rely on the original (Catholic) Bible that has all the books.

A big reason due to the different beliefs is that we are using different books.
well said. an enlightened view. a breath of fresh air. hope you arent swayed by some of these other more claustrophobic posts.

The books themselves are a small part of the problem. The Catholic "church" holds the papal decrees and declarations above Scripture (including the Catholic canon). If you investigate the decrees, you'll understand the divide more clearly. :)
The Catholics are not the only denomination that is guilty of this. Many uphold their own customs and traditions far too highly.

Me too! I knew at the time I was not following the word of God, but my own desires. I should have been more patient until she became a believer. She got saved in our first year of marriage, praise the Lord. We’ve been married now for 26 years, and she is an unbelievable follower of Christ.
If you had waited until she became a believer she probably would have married someone else who would accept her as she was. What makes you believe that you were not following the Word of God?
