2 Corinthians 13:8
For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
Paul's words, in a letter of rebuke to the church at Corinth.
They are not a recipe for attaining salvation through works.
Paul also wrote more letters to other churches about how salvation is secured by grace through faith in Christ.
Here's some verses for you to ponder.......
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;
it is the gift of God,
9not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Romans 4:4-5
Now the wages of the worker are not credited as a gift, but as an obligation.
5However, to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.
Romans 9:16
So then
it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.
2 Timothy 1:9
who has saved us and called
us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,
Romans 3:21-27
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22Even the righteousness of God
which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25Whom God hath set forth
to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26To declare,
I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27Where
is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
