A little more clarification on the Law of Moses

I have heard it taught that the "Law of Moses is "a unit" that can not be divided, and The Commandments are contained within, thereby allowing The commandments to be "done away with" at the same time the statutes are. That is not a truth of the Word, that is a tradition of man, being taught as a truth.

Deuteronomy 5:31 But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.

Deuteronomy 5:32 Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

(From Deut 5:7-21 the commandments are given
Deuteronomy 5:22 These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

The commandments - The Spiritual, or moral part of the Law. THEY DO NOT CHANGE. They were written by God, on stone, and are placed IN the ark.

The statutes - The rituals, blood sacrifice. Once the Lamb of God was slain, they were done away with or nailed to the cross (yet never gone for education). They were the rituals of Gods Word, they were done as a likeness or type of what was to be accomplished by Christ

The judgments - Civil. Civil law. Judgement can be reward or punishment. Follow God, reward. Don't, punishment

Deuteronomy 6:2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life and that thy days may be prolonged.

Well, Jesus said: "Love your neighbor AS yourself", not MORE than yourself.

By "swappin' spit with snakes" you mean loving our enemies? If this is what you mean, I can say the following: Jesus was preaching a super mega advanced version of the law of Moses. I'm sure you don't have to kiss a hungry lion in the mouth to be saved. As far as I know Paul never said we have to loooove our enemies to be saved; just not hating them is enough (at least this is what I think).

As for gay weddings etc, we shouldn't take part in. That doesn't mean we don't love them; we just don't approve of some of their actions.

The body of Christ is the one that will be presented to Him as a pure virgin and whom He will save. (Ephesians 5:23, 2 Corinthians 11:2-4) Israel (the people) are the original branches of the olive tree (Jesus Christ) which makes them a part of the body of Christ. They received the law from God as part of His "gifts and call" which is irrevocable. They were entrusted with the very words of God such as the law and I believe that His words will never pass away.(Romans 11:25-32, 9:4-5, Matthew 24:35) .

It is the gifts and the call that are irrevocable, not the law of Moses.

28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable

So as parts of the body of Christ we should not look down or judge them.

What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision? Much in every way! First of all, they have been entrusted with the very words of God. What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness? Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge...”

In my opinion "circumcision" here means the Jewish identity. The Jews/Hebrews received God's law through Moses, they made copies of it and preserved them. The Gospel was preached to them first and then to the Gentiles. They were privileged and yet many of them rejected the Messiah.

See what Paul wrote in Galatians 5:2

Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.

Look at the similarities. Both were given and both were received then rejected. Both can be found on/in their hearts through the new covenant through FAITH and OBEDIENCE.

You are assuming the laws of Moses is a gift, not a command. Then, based on THAT ASSUMPTION, you add to it something that pertains to Gods election.

God tells us the gifts, salvation, justification, etc. I have never heard of the law being a gift. WHERE DO I FIND it in the Scriptures? What Jesus accomplished for us are gifts.

Everyone considers Gods laws as from God.

No need to quote historians. James himself in acts 15 decided that only gentile believers were excused from the law. Jewish believers must still be zealous for the law, and acts 21 confirmed it.
