Zep 1:7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.

Zep 1:8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.
Zep 1:9 In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.
Zep 1:10 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.
Zep 1:11 Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.
Zep 1:12 And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.
Zep 1:13 Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.
Zep 1:14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
Zep 1:15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
Zep 1:16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
Zep 1:17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
Zep 1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

Above describes the day of the Lord. The sacrifice is Jesus and the guest are those who attend the wedding of Jesus to his bride.

How do futurist view this?
What do you believe the sacrifice is and who do you think the guests are?

I ran across his today while driving and listening to the Bible.

How does this fit with your view? What is the sacrifice and who are the guests?

If you like, you can reply at the thread I started earlier so as to not derail your thread.

Like I said, I just discovered this passage today and would like to know how it fits into every bodies end times scenario.

I think this was accomplished in the fall of Jerusalem around 606-586 BC.

Revelation 19:17-21
Who are the guests? The kings and captains that get sacrificed and then eaten by the birds?

Or are the guests the birds?

Zep 3:1 Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!
Jerusalem or the entire world?

Zep 3:2 She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.
“Her God” - Jerusalem or the kings of all the earth?

Zep 3:3 Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.

Zep 3:4 Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.
“Her prophets and Her priests ” - Jerusalem or the King’s of all the earth?

AD 70 or the end of time?

What’s was the lords sacrifice and who do you think the guests were?
I'd have to do a bit more research K16, I don't see how you are tying this to the cross.

As for guests in the context I don't know. But I would say that this is not speaking of the guests that were invited to the wedding in Christ's parables.

Because the Lords sacrifice for the world is Jesus Christ.

I still think this was in the 600 BC plus or minus a couple of BC's.

Because the Lords sacrifice for the world is Jesus Christ.
I don't see how you can connect it to the cross K16, I'm not aware of any commentaries that do.

I’m not trying to convince you, I’m showing reasons why I believe what I believe, while at the same time looking at your reasons for believing what you believe. :)

Ha, well you haven't really shown any reasons K16, just what you believe.

The dispenstationalists do include Zephaniah in the 70th week of Daniel in the supposed end scenarios, but remember for them the prophetic clock got stuck at midnight on the 69th and has been in suspended animation ever since.

Zep 1:7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests....Zep 1:8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.
These verses have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SACRIFICE OF CHRIST.

They must be understood in the context of the battle of Armageddon, where the enemies of Christ and Israel are sacrificed, and the invited *guests* are all the carrion eating birds of prey.

REVELATION 19
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God...
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; [HERE ARE THE GUESTS]
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great... [HERE ARE THE SACRIFICES]
21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

REVELATION 14
15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
20
And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs. [A RIVER OF BLOOD 200 MILES LONG AND 5 FEET HIGH]

They fell asleep at midnight --- the clock didn't stop - it kept runníng - it didn't miss a beat --- they are in suspended animation...

Maktesh is the Kedron valley,,the blood flowed out of the pipes from the temple into the Kedron(priest washed the blood away after sacrifices). It flowed down the Kedron to the dead sea and the scrolls are a booty.

bingo

Read Nehemiah6's post above...
You had the right idea but the Scriptures needed to be presented. I am simply amazed that anyone would equate the day of the LORD with anything other than the wrath of God.

(Zep 1:10 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.)

(Zep 1:11 Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.)

The day of sacrifice is most probably a day of slaughter.

A sacrifice is an offering to God, Revelation 19 is God pouring out his wrath, killing those who have profaned his name. That’s IS NOT an offering to God.
