Vague, open ended, poorly constructed, needs a lot of clarification.
He, and people like him, don't "get it!"
Hopefully, one day? Some day, they will!
But, at this time?
James 4
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Yep.

It is not the law of moses which makes us righteous and holy and morally good people. it is the law of Love, We love because God loved us first. It is his power within us that causes us to love, which causes us to walk in a way which is christlike.

The law never could do this, and it can not today
So did Jesus ever tell us that we no longer need to keep the law of Moses? (I'm referring to the 10 commandments which is God's law/commandments given to Moses for Israel)

Again,

For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:3-4
Do you live according to the Spirit? If yes, what requirements have been fully met in you?

Love, for the Day Is Near Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:8-10

Do you keep this commandments summed up as "love your neighbour as yourself"?

I went searching for an unbiased resource for the question posed in this thread. We all defend with the words of God our own understanding so as to post an answer. Maybe this will help and reduce confusion and maybe even bring a little peace. I hope so.

Compare below Moses Law vs.
God's Ten Commandment Law
MANY people often confuse Moses Law with God's Ten Commandment Law, but they are very different.
Moses' law was the temporary, ceremonial law of the Old Testament. It regulated the priesthood, sacrifices, rituals, meat and drink offerings, etc., all of which foreshadowed the cross. This law was added "till the seed should come," and that seed was Christ (Galatians 3:16, 19). The ritual and ceremony of Moses' law pointed forward to Christ's sacrifice. When He died, this law came to an end, but the Ten Commandments (God's law) "stand fast for ever and ever." Psalm 111:7,8.
There are two laws that are made crystal clear in the following verses below. Daniel 9:10 is talking about God's law and verse 11 is talking about Moses' law:

"Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets."
"Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him." Daniel 9:10,11

Special Note: Please note that God's law also called the 10 Commandments has existed at least as long as sin has existed. The Bible says, "Where no law is, there is no transgression [or sin]." Romans 4:15. So God's Ten Commandment law existed from the beginning. Men broke that law. "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." 1 John 3:4Because of sin (or breaking God's law), Moses law was given (or "added" Galatians 3:16, 19) till Christ should come and die. Two separate laws involved: God's law or 10 Commandments and Moses law.

Good Morning NayborBear,

Would you help me to get a clearer understanding of the difference between "eternal" and "everlasting"?

Thanks

SG
Sure SG!
Everlasting, lasts from One point in eternity, to another!
Take for instance this current earth/heaven age, which "started" at Genesis 1.
And, "ends" when Jesus is sent back to earth.
Another "everlasting", although it is not stated as such, is the period of time called "the Millilenia." Where satan is "locked up" for a thousand years. Also considered to be a "rod of iron time of teaching."
And "ends?" When satan is "loosed for a season!

Eternal, has no ending! And actually? Has No Beginning either!

Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Matthew 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Hebrews 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Hebrews 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

Hebrews 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

Hebrews 9:18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.

Hebrews 9:19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

Hebrews 9:20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

Romans 7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
Romans 7:2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

Romans 7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

Romans 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

The Ten Commandments Moses summoned all Israel and said: Hear, O Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them. The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. It was not with our fathers that the Lord made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today. The Lord spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain. (At that time I stood between the Lord and you to declare to you the word of the Lord, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever! “Go, tell them to return to their tents. But you stay here with me so that I may give you all the commands, decrees and laws you are to teach them to follow in the land I am giving them to possess.” So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:1-6,29-33

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. Romans 13:1-5

Rejecting God's laws and commandments is rejection of His words.

There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.” John 12:48-50

See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? Hebrews 12:25

Walk in Love.

Love is the fulfilment of the law.

So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” Luke 17:10

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
I guessed I missed it.

Which of these shows that the fruit of the Spirit is disobedience to the law?

And which of these shows that your work at the law produces this fruit of the spirit?

Maybe you just don't understand the question...?

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
So what in there answers the question "what do you think the accuser of the brethren uses to accuse the brethren"?

Never heard of Gish galloping before. I think PH was on a debate team.

Gish Galloping...huh!?

Yeah, the Berean way is a safer bet.

Just like there's "No replacement for Displacement" in the motor world,

There's "No replacement for Eye placement on the Word itself!" ;) If you find that goofy I can't blame it on anyone else.

I can look over my thoughts and find myself putting thoughts out there that are for consideration only, but with a heavy leaning on confirmed. I appreciate having calmer heads and wiser minds than mine to get to the bottom of some of what I am beginning to learn. It's an amazing thing how the Holy Spirit begins to connect the dots and sometimes the revelations come at you so fast you cannot contain them all. Just like when Yahshua said;

Joh 16:12-14 NIV "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. (13) But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (14) He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.

It's a guided process! And such a blessed one at that.
Isn't that GREAT, SG? In having the "seed" just FLOODING your mind, thoughts, heart, soul, spirit!
Gives you a more clearer UNDERSTANDING concerning the "parable of the different types of ground!"
Don't it?

Tells me (anyways) You are "tilling the soil!" Breaking up the "stony places." Bush hogging :)the "thorns and thistles" And, "shooting" the birds that swoop down and take the "seed" away!

Seems "fitting" to put this here: (y)(y)

My bible says the same thing

The law is a unit, and what was required to be obeyed perfectly was the commands written in stone, thats why they are called the ministration of death.

The parts of the law your talking about never condemned anyone to begin with.

The law requires perfection

Are you perfect

If your answer is no. You do not keep the law

I acknowledge this. So I look to the law of Christ.

Hey wokinluv,

I the following verses finish the thought of the verse you cited and the theme of this thread;

Joh 14:21 KJV He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Exo 20:6 KJV And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Mar 12:30 KJV And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

These are the beginning of Love.

And complimentary verses;

Mat 7:21-23 KJV Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The very last word "iniquity" in the verses above is Greek word "anomia". a-without, nomia/nomos- the Law.

When I reread the verse by replacing the word "iniquity" with it's basic Greek form "without the Law" it opens up verse to mean that Yahshua in the last days declares to those who do good works without the Law are strangers to Him, because they sidestepped the only way in the Word to "Love" Him and to "know" Him.

Bless YHWH! Know and Keep.
Galatians 3:9-14
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Romans 9:30-33
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Which one did the will of the Father here? The Gentiles, which have attained the Righteousness of faith in Christ.

Or those who work at the law and have not attained to the righteousness of faith in Christ?

Which one is the worker of iniquity here? The one who works at the law or the one who doesn't?

Pretty easy to see that the one who HAS attained to righteousness is the one who keeps the law. The one who hasn't attained to righteousness doesn't keep the law and IS the worker of iniquity.

JESUS kept It and JESUS IS the VINE and we ,members of HIS body are the branches receiving sustenance from the VINE displaying spiritual fruit.

Galatians 5:19-23
King James Version

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

So "Everlasting" is similar to "Age Lasting"

Eternal takes a special move of the Spirit for it to become perceptible!

One is a "Long time!" The other has nothing to do with time! :)

Remember when Jesus answered after being asked about the law? Love the Lord our God with all our heart and mind. And love our neighbor as ourselves. On those two commands hang all the laws and the prophets. The commands then of God are hung on love. Love of God , love of others.

The way I see it, when we love God and love others, the ten commandments are the details as to how that is accomplished.
For instance, when we love God we have no other Gods before him. Because there are none actually.
When we love our neighbor as we love ourselves we don't steal from them. Because we would not want our things stolen.
When the law hangs on Love I don't believe we can say it is abolished and replaced at all. Because Love is its foundation.

If the law then is hung upon those two Loves Jesus talked about, then I think the question turns into, how do we ignore the ten commandments thinking they no longer apply and still do what Jesus said as pertains to the law? Love God, love our neighbor.
And also, God wrote his laws on our heart and mind. How are they then abolished when God said he did that so we'd never be separated from them?

I know of no such thing that appears in my Bible. Does it appear as such in yours?
Read John 8:44. The Father of the Pharisees was the devil and people today are still being entrapped by their lies.

If the only law that requires perfection is the law of Moses, and the law of Moses has been replaced with the law of the kingdom, which doesn't require perfection, why does anyone need to be perfect?

If Jesus died for our sins, we must be sinning and not be perfect. So we must be following the law.
If we were made perfect by His death, then nothing we would do would be a sin.
If nothing we are doing is a sin, then nothing is holy.

That is like says works are bad. If no one does works, the word is not spread and we never hear it.

In my opinion, The biggest lie being told today is that those who follow Gods law, have not been saved and do not have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. And those who have "only" faith are.

James 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

James 1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

James 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

James 1:24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

The lie is: "The law of Moses is the way of salvation."
