Actually, some are mentioned as having four wings, while others have six. Those mentioned in Ezekiel and Revelation have eyes covering their entire bodies. These are clearly different from Archangels and other types of angels. These particular ones are mentioned as being four in number.
Neither Michael nor Gabriel, or others are mentioned with the characteristics of those referred to as cherubim, seraphim and as living beings. They are obviously a different type or rank of heavenly beings.
However, this subject is nothing to become upset about, as it is just the description of heavenly beings.
I didn't notice any such scriptures, why don't you point them out for us?
If we are given no other references to the appearance of cherubim, why would we conclude they all look the same. That is merely assumption.
I believe the highest order of angels are cherubim, as Lucifer was a governing agent before his fall because of evil. Ezekiel 28:14 "Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire." Mountain being prophetic of government.
If they are the highest order of angels, that would make Michael and Gabriel cherubim also. Gabriel appeared as human in appearance couple of times (see Dan. 9:21 and Luke 1:26, 29).

These creatures are among the most elusive in the scripture. I can assure you that no matter how deep you dig into the study of these creatures, outside the scripture itself , will only leave you with the same question. Who and what are they. My thoughts are base on what the scripture itself says and nothing else. God was adamant that the face of these creatures be turned toward the mercy seat. Angles have no need for mercy. But here it seems to me God is saying to these creatures your relation to me depends on your obedience in sacrifice. That obviously does not include angles. There are some who believe these creatures represent how man was in the beginning.
Another point: Ezekiel 28:14 could just as well describe Adam before his fall.
Also only denominational theology teaches that satan is a fallen angle . Their thinking that Lucifer " SON of the morning" or "bright and morning star " equates to satan is simply that "their teaching".
In my way thinking which includes the belief that God is in every way without limits why would He allow an angle He created, and can just as easily speak Him into oblivion, resist His plans. Why would He be allowed to interfere with the redemption of the saints. The only places in the scriptures that gives some insight are ones which say "God created the waster to destroy and another place where it says he is a lier from his beginning. Even today ,when it comes to The Saints Of God, satan cannot make a move without a nod from God.
It is not a question of weather satan exist or not its the matter of where he came from and why. The scripture tells us that in Christ we have authority over satan and his demons. We are not greater than Christ and just as He was make perfect thru suffering so shall we be transformed into His image thru our suffering. Does a God of Love allow us to suffer in order to perfect our faith? We have yet to resist unto blood as Jesus. Further more in the eyes of God when His Son died on than cross so did we. All of humanity hopes hung on Jesus coming out of the grave. How did God feel when His only Son died hanging on that piece of wood. I can speak first hand to the pain of losing someone who is close me. For me the pain has become a part of me but it has made me stronger. Is there any reason to believe that the pain God felt on that day was any the less?
