John is not talking about physical death ... A person can practice "sin that does incur death" and staying physically alive ... If the person dies because of something wrong that he did, John would not be differenciating among both kind of sins and warning about praying for those people. You can not get the point.

Let me put an example maybe you can understand: in the first century there were some expelled from the congregation because they practiced "sin that does incur death" ... nobody would be praying for those. But in the first century they (those in the right positions for that) did not expelled all who commits all kind of sins, or the congregation would be totally empty ... cause we all are "sinners".
