I would be disappointed too. Oatmeal raisin cookies are OK but nothing beats Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookies, not even peanut butter cookies and I love them.
I love peanut butter cookies too! :D

Actually it is a kind of candy over here in America. It's kind of like a cross between taffy and marshmallow. Never had figured out why they call them peanuts. But they sure are good.
OH!

I thought they were like Mountain Oysters or something........

Chicken tastes like frog legs. Yes, I have actually consumed such a thing. Chicken tastes like rabbit too.
Frog legs have a *similar* texture to chicken, but a totally different flavor.

If you have to make a comparison, call it fishy chicken. Chicken texture (almost) but a definite fish flavor.

And rabbit is closer to raccoon than chicken. But not really like either. It's kind of like squirrel, but not as tough.

Our church does a men's wild meat supper every December. We've seen a little of everything. Duck, goose, ostrich, deer in more forms than you can count, elk... ugh, the elk... that is some gamey stuff!

Boiled okra. Just as soon eat snot. My dad loved turnip greens - grew them out in his back yard. One time he cooked turnips and told me they were potatoes. I about gagged and never trusted him again.
Completely agree about the okra!
Actually, snot might taste better. 🤔

"Try it. It's so good! Kind of like (insert what they THINK it tastes like) but gamey-er (? Spelling)

Okra: Fried mmmmm Boiled with Black Eyed Peas, Red Onions, Corn, Taters, Jalapeno Peppers, and some good old Crawdads.............. MMMMMMMMMMM Need Crackling Cornbread with it though...

Mustard or Collard Greens........ mmmmm NO SPINICH! ew! just EW! Turnip Greens in a pinch, but better if mixed with one or both of the others. NO POLK Salad...... ugh

Lots of non-Country folk on here I guess.....

Wild game.....??? Not crazy about any of it.

WILD FISH?? OH YEAH! Catfish, Bream, Blue Gill, Crappie............ Saltwater Bass or Trout. or many others.

But, I like most of my fish baked. Wrapped in tinfoil, sprinkled with Lemon Pepper, and a big dollop of butter and a good squeeze of real lemon juice on it. Bake until tender done.

As much as I enjoy rhapsodizing about food, and listening to others enthuse... I must mention this thread is specifically about foods that are wrongly described. :geek:

One place that always gets me is Cracker Barrel. They wrongly describe their food as good ole southern home cooking. Nope nope nope nope. The food is pretty good, and at a decent price, but it ain't nowhere near what people around here make in the kitchen. I'll still eat it though.

I've heard of a lot of restaurants purporting to sell "authentic" dim sum. I don't know what "authentic" is, as it pertains to dim sum, but I know a lot of asian people who say those restaurants are lying. :whistle:

I am confused, so they are a candy in America. We call them lollies over here.

When you tell a really big lie, it is colloquially referred to as a Whopper. Hence the name, because of the misleading way in which they describe the sandwich.

This isn’t wrongly described, but maybe wrongly presented? I hated the way most veggies were cooked growing up. There are quite a few that I love now that I eat them raw or steamed. Spinach and broccoli are two of my faves, but I couldn’t stand them growing up. Same with peas. I’d have to wrap those in bread to choke them down at dinner time, but I loved eating them from the pod when we visited my grandpa. (He hated us going through his garden 😛)

I know what you mean. My mother and grandmother boiled the life plum out of the veggies. I started steaming them when I got married. Now I love them all. Steamed where they are still crisp and flavorful. I married my second wife and was cooking carrots one night when I was informed her kids did not like cooked carrots. I ask them if they liked them raw. They said yes. I said you will like mine then because they taste like raw. They gobbled them right down. :D
