Matthew 3:13-17 (KJV)
13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Why do you suppose the Holy Spirit was exterior of Jesus, descending upon Jesus after the heavens were opened to Him, if Jesus already was in possession of the fullness of the Godhead?
Whose voice from that opened up heaven called out a claim that Jesus was Son? I believe Jesus came from birth to that day with John in the form of a man without that fullness, receiving the Second Person (Holy Spirit) on that day, while the Father remained as usual in heaven on the throne.
The Magi followed a sign from heaven that led them to Jerusalem and King Herod, then from there 5 miles south to Bethlehem. The babe who was worshipped was not identified as YAHWEH or ELOHIM. He was the babe to fulfill prophecy. Even yet, being identified as RULER of Israel while yet a babe, that won't happen until Jesus returns. Remember, the Magi were diviners. God can even use eastern religions to His purposes even thousands of years coming.
In the ancient days the Spirit came UPON certain leaders , such as judges, prophets, and kings. The Holy Spirit would remain upon them, not IN them, as long as He was welcome. In the words of David
Psalm 51:11-17 (KJV)
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
No Christian should have to pray that over himself. There is a HUGE difference between a spirit upon one's shoulder, holy or unholy, and the Holy Spirit residing inside a believer, sealing them to eternity.
Hey, Ya'll, Henry Ford is dead and the Ford Corp is completely different, though disappointing to me as a former devoted Ford customer. His examples relate to secular concepts, which are rampant today and are affecting their sales. Look to the scriptures instead!
