For one thing it is not a moral law but a law of interpretation. Yet for all that they hear me not is repeated . They will not enter his rest (no faith) just as Cain did not receive the sabbath rest .. The problem is men make the foundation of the law without effect. and rather than confirming unbelief it get turned upside down into a supposed blessing, calling evil good.
Tongues is simply the promised new manner God would bring his interpretation the scripture. No sign gifts. Spiritual gifts not seen yes.
2 Corinthians 5:7(For we walk by faith, not by sight
Jesus said these sign shall follow them, so IF Jesus said sign would follow the believer and HE said the works that I do you shall do also IF you Believe. FYI I believe what Jesus said.
The sign that followed (not one desires to seek after to confirm something. )were metaphors, shadows not the substance, the faith to beleive.. All of the signs followed everyone that did hear the gospel and believe the author. They are not individual gift. But again all for one and one for all.
All speak in a new tongue the gospel of Christ. He promises us he will not forget the good works we have offered towards his name.
He whose name is Jealous seeing he alone owns all things will not share his glory with the corrupted creation . Even Jesus as the Son of man refused to be called good master .One is our Master in heaven no man can serve two, the flesh seen and the Spirit not seen. ( hate the one.... love to other vice versa) .Jesus said only God is good not seen is good. We walk according to His faith that does work in us to both will and do his good pleasure..
New tongues represents the gospel. The tongue of God. The signified tongue of prophecy spoken of in Revelation 1:1 .referred to as hidden Manna in chapter 2. The understanding hid in parables the understanding revealed to those who do walk by faith according to the prescriptions . Like the 20/20 prescription below.

Moral and ethic behavior is of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The tree of life is Jesus and is His ressurection life. I haven’t yet walked through a wall but that doesn’t mean I won’t if needed. Or that I can’t. Too hard to believe? Yep...that’s the problem.
And the reason for lack of history is simple. Christians were trying to stay alive.

do you not understand that Paul says differently? do you think you know more or perhaps your church elders know better?
I cannot fathom how someone who professes such knowledge of all things spiritual can insist that what is taught in their church is correct while the Bible is wrong

Hi seven. I thought that Paul was speaking of the gift of tongues in speaking a message to the fellowship. Not all have this. But, the language of the spiritual person, all can have it. Some quit seeking for whatever reason, but my opinion on this would be a serpent lie speaking that God doesn’t want to give this to me.
The gift of tongues is equal to the gift of prophecy, but this must be interpreted or is not understood.
Simply another manner of the same prophecy

He prohibits private interpretations and warns of of those who say we must have a man sen to teach us ."The furit of the fall" ; did God really say.? etc .
He moves us according to His interpretation. Not of us moving Him .We all have a person commentaries as a bias a little different or a lot . Like fingerprints . His, is as it is written . I don't see anything that would give us the idea that we are seek out a private interpretation of some sounds

interesting thought and one expressed here often enough
some think that the congregation were actually praying in tongues out loud which personally I don't see indicated by Paul
I don't think it's a matter of whether or not all should speak in tongues because I think that in private life all might but this does not seem to be what happens
I've known people who earnestly wanted to speak in tongues but it just did not happen for them
on the other hand, some do at the moment of asking...that 's how it happened for me
tongues are both a sign and a gift. a sign to unbelievers and a gift to believers
while I believe that not all will speak in tongues, that is what I see actually, I would not use that as an excuse not to pray about it
frankly and this is something I'm not sure has even been discussed here, praying in tongues does open up a spiritual door with consequences ... you probably might know what I mean by that
it isn't something to be flippant about
I will agree that tongues do seem to be the first evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit as a separate event after conversion
I'm wondering about all those that were converted on the day of Pentecost with regards to being filled
IMO, there is really not enough taught in churches and people get carried away and strange beliefs happen sometimes
once we do pray in tongues, our spiritual awareness is heightened and we need to understand that employs both realms

Thats the question. Which Spirit is behind this teaching? I know ex pentecostals which would say that the devil is behind this teaching. Because it brought them away from God.
The catholics burned thousands of solid believers and their writings.
Interesting enough,anyone with revelation (illumination) sees quickly that that same light of illumination is awesome,and from heaven,making the walk and actions,and Gods tangible glorious presence,the same component the apostles had. God authenticating Himself,and His Word.
But for those rejecting every gift and miracle,or a God of power,"church history" is their source and authentication.(ironically sourcing illumination off of "church history",denying true church history...the bible)
Ironically, both cases of church history also backs up the still present Power of the Holy Spirit.
The unilluminated cessationist is in a defeated position. A fool's paradise of mental salvation,walk,and God. A powerless gospel strangleing their flock and proselites.
IOW A "peaked out" (God is mental,and lost his power.therefore so have we) leader will have,as a result of his backslidden doctrine,a flock that is hamstrung by his imposed ceiling. (Ain't nobody gonna be like them apostles around here,and I'm gonna see to it)

Then you maby should give hanania1 in the christian Family forum some advise. He/She has some Problems in her/his Church. Its a pentecostal Church. And it seems that the leaders of this Church have no Idea how to lead this Church in a biblical way. How that? If they are empowered with the Holy Spirit?
