Let's see, by what standard do atheist ... Unicorns and cuss words, does that sum up the atheist part?

And how do we explain why the gate is so narrow, or how did you answer to "tolerance advocate"

Your biggest struggle in CARM?
There were a few non-believers who did not hate Christians simply because we were Christians, and who really did (intellectually at least) grasp the Christian message. Some non-believers even defended Christians against the outright haters. Largely, though, atheists believed they understood what they constantly maligned and misrepresented, while either denying their hostility, or wearing it like a badge of honor. It was humorous, to say the least, to listen to them tell us we believed only because we were told to, and then watch them turn around and try to tell us what we should believe instead. Such contradictory stances were a hallmark of the non-believer. Even the ones I thought to be quite rational and logical (and they were few, to be sure) would, at some point, show their complete irrationality and total lack of logic when it came to whether or not it was rational and/or logical to believe.

Perhaps my biggest challenge was to not take what they said personally. I kept meeting them where they were, knowing they were not open to Scriptures at all, and simply showed them the flaws in their thinking, which was not something they appreciated, either :giggle: Some were just so hateful, vitriolic, toward any Christian, and Biblical teaching, and they could be corrected multiple times and would come back again with their same line of reasoning and claim nobody had answered them. The blatant lies were hard to take.

It looks like the management got rid of Hertic yet again, and all of his negative reviews.

Thank You Management!

There are some temporary blessing as some non believers would actually defend Christians against haters

The last part makes you wish that CARM has an ignore feature

And it does make bdf sound as friendly and kindly worded as prayer threads

In comparison

I see why you like cc.com better

I did witness a few Christians crash and burn as a result of their interactions with non-believers, and it was quite a sad/heart-breaking thing to behold, to see them thinking those who (secretly?) hated them were their friends, and be witness to their suffering when they were betrayed. I learned to be careful to say only what was necessary, and to stay on point, because anything extra was just an invitation for them to change the subject and obfuscate some more.

There's a huge difference between non believers and atheist's. Atheist's are anti-god and theology, the word is a contraction.

I had enough of that when I was a christian telephone counselor. I, personally, resist throwing pearls to swine.

I'm sorry to hear that

*Hug* it's ok, you are in cc now, not in CARM

I didn't mean to bring back bad memories for you,

And I can thank God that apologetics give me a headache, and that CARM even reject my application

CARM was the closest to mental and emotional hell that you've been through

One day, in Paradise, all your tears and sorrow shall be erased, and you will be rewarded abundantly

God knows, God understands

And he prays for you as well

It was tricky business to stand up to them and speak the truth in love, when what was being said to them on almost every front was an affront to them. On my first apologetics site, it took about three years for the "regulars" to stop trying to trick me. I was sorry when that site closed down and deleted everything, but obviously it was time to move on, and so I did. That was when I went to CARM. CARM was at least a Christian run site and had better moderation. I put what I had learned in recovery to work for me :)

Seohce, have committed the logical fallacy of argument by intimidation, and the slippery slope fallacy of saying osas, therefore disobedience

And non sequitur as well

In the eyes of logic, seohce will pay dearly

Our ministry was suicide prevention. Trinity Broadcasting used to post our number but people angry with God used to watch and call to argue with us. That distracted us from doing our jobs. Saving lives. No time to waste arguing with angry knuckleheads.

Oh, they are not bad memories at all for the most part. You know what? I really enjoyed speaking to the non-believers for all those years :) It was challenging to be sure, but I did learn a lot and I also found it fun and all-consuming; my desire was to encourage them to seek no matter what. I felt I had a good understanding of where they were coming from, for I did not "convert" until I was in my 50th year. I hope some fruit came of it, but I may not know that as long as I inhabit this side of life :D Thank you for your well wishes! :)

*stamp my testimony on the table*

Therefore, salvation according to the Christian Bible is true

Fine, non-believers don't believe that, all is made up by the brain

Then a rebuttal against them: if my brain is that brilliant, would it be a bit arrogant for them to think that they can refute me?

Shouldn't they get off their high horse, if I turn testimony into a science journal, we would miss the point, salt lose saltiness, and lose impact

Identity crisis

I am Jesus, so perfect, holy, free from my past, just by realising I am Jesus.

Unfortunately this sounds like an LSD trip. We are not Jesus, we are in Christ His workmanship,
the example of the Holy Spirit in a repentant, purified and redeemed believer.

But realising in Christ our hearts can be cleansed, purified and healed, through repentance, confession,
and walking in faith and victory, accepting the love of Christ to us, and knowing we are kept in His hands.

Good grief FHS, That’s not at all what I said nor what I believe.

In Him. Our identity is in Him. A fixed position,

Plus I’ve never heard what you just posted from anyone except those who have mental issues.

You are digging at my words without true comprehension.

There was something obviously wrong with them, no doubt. Why would an atheist stay up all night watching all christian all of the time programing? And call because they are angry with us because we chose to serve the Lord by helping others? We weren't trained to deal with that level of insanity. Many counselors got depressed and quit after a few tries. Well trained and educated volunteer's are few and far between. The knuckle heads would rather drag us down than admit they were mixed up and angry with God.

Without God's help, there is not a single Bible verse that we can apply, and even if we apply, our hearts would fail to please God for our motive fall short. therefore, we need to rely on God

Some counselors used to try casting demons out of them through the phone because of what they heard on TV, get laughed at. Cursed out the some callers pretended (or not) to be possessed and start talking back in tongues. That really messed up gentle, loving, minds. That was our enemies (real or not) goal.

Some people got sick, trying to help.

Well the three extremes were those who didn't believe in mental illness and thought it was all demonic vs those don't believe in demons and think its all psychological vs those who don't realize the brain is like an organ that malfunctions in some people. They think it all imaginary. Hence ignorance and mistreatment by well intentioned people.
