If something touches you when you are alone, how do you come to the conclusion that it was God? even if you felt warmness.
This is quite the opposite with Jesus when crowds were pressing against each other and He asked who touched Him when the lady with bleeding problems touched the hem of his cloth. His disciples thought he was crazy.
I would add there is one experience I had that really stands out to me. I don't know how to explain it by simply natural means. It was when I was asking prayer to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The exact wording I don't remember. I just wanted to have the Holy Spirit and know I was a child of God. What I experienced during prayer to be filled with the Spirit seemed so powerful it was hard not to believe it was God. I did question the experience though because I tend to question many things.

yet faith is defined as assurance.

Sevenseas warned me through her posts, not me personally but I took it as to me.

I should of listened.

But, I do feel sorry for those of us who are content just to read the scriptures and not experience His Presence.

Am done now. ❤️😇

I need to listen to myself at times

hugs

what a person has in their heart does express itself

IMO, ANYONE ... anyone...who has any hope or desire to know who this God we say we worship is, will seek Him. will desire Him and will want Him

the proud, the self righteous, those who depend on the flesh, will not and the understanding of those who thump the Bible in everyone's face will be arrogant and used to hurt others. we see it here all the time. it pains me to see these things and know how hungry some hearts are while others hold onto the Bible, in their own understanding, as though it was their personal book of the law from which to judge all souls but their own

it's a good thing, sometimes, to be brought to the end of yourself. that seems to work out more the more we want Him and then we actually do begin to live

Geesh! This is a deceptive post!

As if to say if someone doesn't have some kind of "ecstatic" experience, like you describe electric running through you, or writhing on the floor, shouting out with jerky motions, or laugh hysterically for half an hour, you don't experience His Presence!!!?

Yeah... Not too passive aggressive.

I never said writhing on the floor ,shouting out with jerky motions or laughing hysterically for half an hour.

Electricity like yes. I don't believe I was showing anything but the doctor who was sitting beside me, did.

Caught in a river, swept away in the powerful current in the spirit, affected me in the natural, yes. And all I could do was laugh afterwards. No time limit...wSnt watching my watch.

I feel sorry for you PE.

Truthfully, about your video....I've been slain in the Spirit. But, I'm not in agreement with what the minister said about making a move first then an experience happens. That IMO, is oldtime pentecostal things and I'm not comfortable with it. I've never been in a meeting like that.

You are religious. Not very happy are you?

So what have you experienced?

I have had several experiences, or direct encounters, that I have spoken of before. I don't speak that much of it because it's not about me or my experience. So I don't see a need to satisfy that question for this thread. But I'll speak in generic terms.

It's about HIM. How HE changed my heart. How HE drew me to HIM. How HE drew me back after I left and lived a prodigal life.

There is absolutely no reason I am a Christian, but that HE drew me to HIM. Why would I go to Church after being catholic, and 8 yrs of strict catholic school? I'm DONE with Church! Or... so I thought. Til my brother gave me the true Gospel and I found myself in of all places ... CHURCH!!! And BELIEVE me, the Holy Spirit was there! How does that happen that I'm at Church? I got fleshly desires to fulfill!

But further...

I experience Him, in my car when a great song comes on, in the hug of a brother and sister in Christ, in my wife and sons, in my work, in my food, in my sleep, and a billion other ways.

The question isn't when have I experienced Him, the question is when DIDN'T I experience Him!

Mr. PennEd the behaviour in that video is a travesty, completely apart from from a Godly spiritual experience, did we ever see this behaviour in Jesus...NO...He was God in the flesh, did his disciples behave this way NO.

When we are touched by God's love we are humbled, filled with peace and joy, our bodies do not fall over, twerk and jerk or utter meaningless phonemes, we are moved, speechless in complete awe of the pure love of God.

This is the experience of a profound, deeper, denser reality and would never cause histrionics.

The problem is, you don't understand what a spirit is. A spirit is a conscious mind or at least greatly connected to the mind. There's only one thing in a conscious mind, information which could be truth or lies and there's only one process, it is understanding, whether right or wrong.

When the spirit of truth comes who is God, there's only one thing a person can do and that is to understand the truth.
Understanding has nothing to do with movement on the floor/ running/laughing/ speaking meaningless words/ feeling electrified.
Worshiping in spirit and truth has nothing to do with movement of any muscle, just understanding.

I don't disagree with your post noose, but experiences like I've mentioned are mostly found in conferences and special meetings. Where the people who are seeking meet together, there's great power expressed.

Believe me I know what the demonic is like. Holy Spirit is gentle, not so with the enemy.
And God is as close as our very breath....when we speak faith, He reacts.

I don't understand why the cynical attitude towards what you said you once had. If you weren't faking things, then there should not be disillusionment.

Isa 30:
19O people in Zion, who dwell in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. He will surely be gracious at the sound of your cry; when He hears, He will answer you. 20The Lord will give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, but your Teacher will no longer hide Himself—with your own eyes you will see Him.

21And whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.” 22So you will desecrate your silver-plated idols and your gold-plated images. You will throw them away like menstrual cloths, saying, “Be gone!”

Yes, this Is true. Love. Spiritual? Natural? Both probably I would think but even the unsaved experience love.

However, are any gifts expressed here? Or are you a cessationist?

If it's of God, no one can stop it. If it's not? It doesn't last.

The giftings are not idolatry. Be careful.

I'm not responding to this thread anymore. Not when unbelief is expressed bordering on blasphemy.

uh......

no

a spirit is an entity and some are greater than others. read Ephesians. well organized

having met a few, you know when they are around. the Holy Spirit is altogether different

thing is, many teaching spirits are active in the world today...they teach 'doctrines of demons' and if anyone thinks they do not know scripture and every way to misrepresent it...through PEOPLE...who are deceived and not taught by the Holy Spirit, then wake up if not too late

understanding rarely brags and seldom self advertises.

when I have been touched by God's love I have danced, sung, been overjoyed and felt completely free and wishing it was time to go 'home'

oh bodies do at times fall over...once fell over all by myself God's presence was so strong on me...at home mind you. still, I don't agree with hysteria or out of control actions. reasons for that though and far better than calling us all demoniacs..the laughable thing is, most of you cessationists would not know what to do with a person who actually did need the demons booted out.

you all are far to free with your name calling. especially choosing to say it is all demons or just mental flukes of some kind

some people prostrate themselves before God. I am one of them

I don't want rewards or crowns...but I expect some are looking forward to it and we are all different

nah. I just want to ride beside Jesus...or even the back of the column is good too.

some folks have not learned to contain their gift(s) but that is another story. no pastor or teacher should ever preach on this subject or teach on this subject if they have not got a handle on it themself

you don't know what you are talking about. you refuse the gift but claim to revere the giver

a mystery there

yeah there is something going on there for sure

sad

I don't think any of us believe as we think we do until faced with something that makes us call out to whatever god we imagine

I prayed once in the middle of the most awful moment ... fell to my knees in agony and the greatest peace came over my heart and I was far from God at the time but yet He never left me

and many others prayers and experiences.

The unsaved feel drawn to the Lord and act upon it? The unsaved read the Bible and the Word speaks to their hearts? The unsaved exhibit love to friend, foe, stranger alike? That hasn't been my experience.

I told you, I'm not gonna hold up any of my experiences of proof or lack of proof of any gift. That is lifting up the self, the gift, and experience above the Giver.

Personally, I haven't decided if the gifts are ongoing. But I'm NOT going to use the experience or lack thereof to vindicate one side or the other. Only the Word, not special revelation, or someone who calls themselves a new Apostle. I think if the Lord needs to reach people for His Glory and our good, he'll give someone exactly what they need, including the gifts.

I have heard good Biblical evidence for both sides, but this pursuit must NOT come at the expense of wasting time presenting the Gospel. VOC's opening couple posts on his thread does an outstanding Biblical job on the one side. I have seen very mixed, inconsistent rebuttals on the other.

One thing is crystal clear however. There is NO WAY the stuff we've seen many of these Charismatic NAR churches doing is Biblical. So if it isn't Biblical, what the heck is it?

Well I guess this WOULD have to be the reaction if someone is calling "experiences" you hold dear as unBiblical, and not from the Lord.

If I start laughing like Rodney, or roll and squirm for an hour on the floor, or bark like a dog would THAT prove to you that I'm a pretty happy guy!? LOL

BTW, your'e feeling sorry for me doesn't affect me, it only make YOU feel better! So if feeling sorry for me makes you feel better, have at it!
